Afternoon shenanigans:
1) SNACK
Hunger!!! I added a small glass of milk for protein. And wanted an apple! Plus almonds.
2) SHOPPING!!
Nearly two years after my first life-changing purchase of Bare Minerals (at BlogHer ’08!), I HAD to restock!! I ended up getting the starter kit all over again so I could rope in some new brushes and all the basics. I can’t believe how much I was missing out on the glow being so low in stock!
We also got our wedding rings cleaned!!
And I broke in my Danskos!! LOVED them walking all around the mall!!! As I said to Matt, any shoe that I can walk 2 hours in without complaints or blisters is a winner. So far, so good!
[If you missed it last week, Clogscentral.com is still giving a 15% off coupon throughout April. Coupon code = kerf.]
3) SNACK #2
I came home from the mall starving with stomach pains!!! Weird because my stomach wasn’t growling, but I interpreted the pains as hunger and ate dinner #1 around 5:30.
The last of our arugula with some of the chopped veggies dressed in oil and honey with a scoop of cottage cheese and a slice of pumpkin bread!
This White Chocolate Pumpkin Bread arrived in the mail from the sweet Teens Eat!!
Matt and I made a significant dent!!! It’s fudgy and oh-so-good!!!!!!! Those twins know their pumpkin because this was amazing 🙂 I don’t know if they have a recipe, so go to their blog to ask them more about it!
My dinner/snack took away my stomach pains, but not by too much. I was ready for another dinner by 7:30!
4) ICE
To ice a foot:
- Find a husband giant sock
- Stuff with ice
Brilliant!
#5) DINNER WITH FRIENDS!
Justin + Amanda are MOVING to Vegas in just 3 short weeks 🙁 We will miss them terribly.
Dinner was scheduled for Savor, a quirky restaurant no where near any of our houses that somehow still managed to draw us back for a second visit 😉
Especiales [I got the crabcake!]
Love their simple clipboard menus!
[Look what Emily got for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]
K+K
We split a bottle of pinot for the table – from Sonoma! Only the best! I sipped a glass throughout the evening. Yum!
We ordered a round of appetizers for the table – pimento cheese dip with kettle chips and hummus + pita.
Wish the pimento cheese had been chunkier, but the chips sure were good and crunchy! I ate my fair share
The pitas were like pillows! Had two 🙂
For dinner I ordered the crab cake with a side of root veggie has and the drunken collards –
The crab cake was just OK – I ate half. Plus all of my veggies. Also didn’t realize the collards would have pork them, which I didn’t really care for (or perhaps it was the broth?)
Matt got a green curry seared tuna. He had some issues with his tuna’s doneness, but the noodles and veggies in the green curry sauce were AMAZING. I snagged a few bites. I heart green curry!
Happy Birthday Bob!!! The table near us commented on my photography and I struck up a conversation. Bob is turning 62 years young today!! I said that was like 26 backwards 🙂 And he also came up with the title of this post!
We debated dessert but decided to pass. My stomach pains are now gone! Whew! Hopefully my body’s hunger has caught up.
So very tired. Been up since 4:45am! Can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow, but then we have to CLEAN because we have an open house at 2!
Nite!
Meg says
What an amazing day! Glad you enjoyed your race, friends, food and good times 😀
Jocelyn@JocelynEatsFresh says
hehe Bob is sooo cute 😀
Emily Eats and Exercises says
I love Bare Minerals – a recent discovery for me, but I’m never going back. It smoothes out my skin without looking over-made up. Plus I don’t feel like I’m putting lots of gunk on my face.
Looks like a fun evening even if the food wasn’t 100%.

Lauren @ A Fit Foodie says
Congratulations on your race and time earlier! You totally deserved two dinners! I know how ravenous I am later in the day after my body has rested a bit after a long run or race!
Glad you’re loving the Danskos. I might be making the switch sometime in the future for nursing. Glad to know they got good reviews from you. Sleep well… you deserve it.
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
Running 13 miles will induce hunger!! 🙂 I’m hungry for ya LOL

All I have to say is WOW! …I don’t know how you made it through your busy day after running a half marathon! That’s a champ right there! Oh, and I also don’t know how you could’ve gone 2 years with 1 BE starter kit – I go through so much of my GLOing make-up; isn’t it the greatest? Get some zzz’s, girl : )
sarah (the SHU box) says
yeahhhh!!! dinner looked fabulous. matt’s tuna made my mouth water especially! although it looks like your pinot was oregon-ian rather than sonoma — still looks amazing, though!
all i have to say is: when is the next race!?!?
oh and i love my bare minerals too that you got me into . . . sometimes i think it may make me break out a little, but then again i feel like EVERYTHING does that to my skin. it’s unfortunate.
Kath says
You are so right!! We got the Oregon pinot instead. Ha. I must have Sonoma on the brain
Race maybe this summer? I have no idea!
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
I hope you get some rest Kath!
I’ve never tried Bare Minerals. I’ve always been a MAC girl, but I do have a sample of bare minerals that I’m excited to try!
Lauren says
I am terribly conerned: the gifting of a spoon that looks like it is made for babies. . . .is this some subtle way to sneak in disordered eating? Are you downsizing your spoons and plates to eat less? Does anyone else notice this obvious weirdness in your post?
Kath says
It’s a condiment spoon.
And I hardly think enjoying a big bowl of oatmeal with a tiny spoon indicates an eating disorder. Of course i’m not planning to eat less.
I think you need to read a bit more of my blog before making such assumptions…
Samantha says
SO off base, Lauren. I thinks it’s called savoring!…..what a crack up!
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
Awh happy birthday Bob! What a sweet looking man 🙂

So glad you had a wonderful day! Congratulations ( I know, I’m the last one to the party) on your race this morning! And time spent with good friends and Matt looks like the best Saturday! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Midgetkeeper says
I love bare minerals, but I can’t wear it since moving to the North East my skin has gotten so dry and it doesn’t work, seeing your glow makes me miss it 🙁
Kath says
They have a new primer that is moisturizing that you’re supposed to put on first. She tried it on me yesterday. Maybe that would solve the problem?
Mom says
Happy Birthday Bob! Love that plate.
Rachel says
Sounds like you had a great afternoon/evening. I can’t believe how much you did in one day! It is nice to read about how you honored your body and listened to your hunger cues throughout the day – it is a good reminder for me and an inspiration. Hope you had a wonderful sleep and are feeling well-rested this morning!
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
Thanks for the foot icing trick. After long runs my foot is sore so that will work perfectly.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Fun, f-u-n, FUN! 😀
And I love your tip on icing the foot. I’ll be using that in the future. 😀

Looks like overall you had a great day. And you even had the energy to do some fun things yesterday after your race. I think my legs would have been exhausted.
I just saw in a catalog that Dansko has some really cute trendy spring sandals that are out. I was surprised out cute they are and probably really comfortable.
Eileen says
What a great day! Congratulations on a great race! You prepared really well, and reaped the benefits.
Bob looks like a great guy … I hope he had a nice night out. 🙂

LOVE the mini spoon…I just stocked up a few weeks ago at c+b. The lady at the register was like, are you having a party with a bunch of appetizers? lol
Lauren says
Such a cute man. I love that he came up with the title of your post- it sounds like something my grandfather would say too.
Daniel says
That’s really awesome that you got to include that guy and his birthday celebration, I think that’s neat. Not sure why, it’s just really cool. ^_^
Good luck with your open house and I hope your foot is feeling better!

Very cute title of the post too!
Lauren says

Lauren says
Can you share more about bare minreals & the makeup you wear. I love your natural look.
Kath says
You must go get a makeover at Bare Minerals. Then you will understand! It blends so well and is truly magical. The Warmth is where most of the magic lies. I just have the starter kit and love it.
BroccoliHut says
I’m a huge fan of Danskos too. I have two pair–one brown and one black so that I have a pair to match everything:)
jessica says
I looved Bare Minerals and used it for a few months and then suddenly developed a sever allergic reaction to it!! I was so bummed 🙁
BalanceforMEre says
Congrats on the race. Quick question… where do you get the Bare Minerals makeup? I googled it and there are so many places and stores that sale “Bare Minerals”.
Kath says
We have a Bare Essentuals (sp?) store here in Charlotte, but you can also get it at Sephora.
Susan says
I love BE so much, I have a collection! If you don’t have a Bare Escentuals store, you can get it at Sephora, Ulta and I’m pretty sure department stores carry it, too. Online you can get it at bareescentuals.com (I think there’s a store locater here, too) and qvc.com. But if you can get to a store, go and get the make-under.
sassy molassy says
I’m glad you like your new danskos. Bare Minerals will definitely be my next makeup of choice after I finish what I currently have stock of. I like and use Origins, but it’s always fun to try new products that other people really like.
Julie @SavvyEats says
Nice icing strategy!
Ironically, I JUST bought that little orange spoon yesterday!
Hannah says
I can’t get past the moist fudginess of that pumpking bread… it looks divine! I just want to toast it udner a grill and slather it in almond butter… 🙂
Teri [a foodie stays fit] says
My husband and I went to Charlotte yesterday so I searched through your restaurants tag to find a place to eat. We ended up at Savor and LOVED it!! Thanks!
