M says
A girl I went to high school with, Alison Fanelli, played Ellen on the show!
Carrie H says
You went to high school with Ellen?!?!? err, Alison? Was she nice? She seemed like the kind of person I’d have been friends with on the show: a total nerd! 😉 I loved Pete & Pete and used to watch it all the time with my brother. Good times.
jessica says
I grew up in the same town as Danny Tamberelli. He was older than me but I still run into him at bars every once in a while and have heard his band play a few times. 🙂

Kath says
Woo hoo!! I haven’t had my sardine fill this week yet!

I love your colourful salad!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says

Heather says
As much as I love ALL the Nick shows, I think Clarissa Explains it All or The Secret World of Alex Mack were my favorites.
Caitlin in MD says
This makes me feel old but what I really remember is Nickelodeon in the 80’s. When I was really young (like 6, 7 maybe?) I LOVED “Today’s Special” and “Belle and Sebastian”…among others. Now THAT is classic Nick.
Kristin says
I remember those too. I could probably still sing the Belle and Sebastian theme song.
Mandi says
Today’s Special!!! I loved that show!! Of course I also enjoyed You Can’t Do That On Television, Clarissa, and the Noozles.
Lana says
Oh, me too – Today’s Special….and Full House! 🙂
Kath says
Today’s Special was my kindergarten favorite!!!
Brittney says
Clarissa from Clarissa Explains it All was my idol. I thought her clothes were so cool! I also dreamed about how awesome it would be to be on Guts. The Secret World of Alex Mack was another favorite, too.
Brie @ Brie Fit says
My mom was morally opposed to Nickelodeon when we were kids because she said she hated how all the adults were always portrayed as stupid and mean! So, we never got to watch it. I feel like I’m missing a chunk of my 90s childhood.
Shion (Shi's Eating) says
Clarissa Explains It All!
LOVE your colorful lunch 🙂

Bree says
I loved Hey Dude and Salute your Shorts! I also loved the Secrets of the Hidden Temple, Double Dare, Doug and Rugrats, although I was probably too old for those last two. My brother watched them and I probably enjoyed them just as much as him 🙂
Sarah R says
Oh my goodness! Nick during the 90’s was amazing! I loved all of the shows–but I think that Double-Dare may have been my favorite.
Wei-Wei says
Your lunch looks so colourful! I love how dessert = the best part 😀 I’m so out of touch with American TV – I’ve never heard of either of these shows! 🙁

Karen says
Clarissa Explains it All!
Amy Pea says
I’m going “old skool” and showing my age, but my favorite was “You Can’t Do That on Television” with the sketches and green slime. Canadian actors and dialects – nothing better. Totally prepped me for being a high sketch comedy fan…

Krista says
Clarissa Explains it all!!!
Megan Hall says
Are You Afraid of the Dark!

Danika says
Are you thinking of “Welcome Freshmen” ? Do you remeber that one!? hehe
Camille says
Haha, love those shows!
I think it premiered in the late 90s, maybe early 2000s, but I am a Spongebob fan through and through. Last winter my sister and I literally spent a week not moving from the couch watching Spongebob. I am almost 21 years old 🙂
Lana says
Like you, I eat a lot of fruit and veg.
Two days ago I developed a horridly painful, incredibly large blood blister on my tongue. No doubt from too much acidic stuff – tomatoes, strawberries?, balsamic vinegar, oranges, etc.
Have you (or others) ever developed one? I’m using salt water to clean it, but sheesh – I don’t want this to happen again…or keep me from eating those nummy foods.
Nelly says
Wow. Are you quite sure it’s just from what you’re eating? Almost everything I consume has vinegar in it somewhere (including the water) and I’ve never had that problem.
For different reasons (dental health) I rinse my mouth out well with water after I eat or drink anything acidic, and also drink some milk afterwards. If it works for the one it might work for the other, I guess?
Lana says
No, I’m not sure. It could be another health complication? I hope not.
I chew an awful lot of gum, though; could that be it?
I will try to rinse my mouth carefully. Thanks for your ideas.
Kath says
I haven’t 🙁 But maybe it’s stress related?
Kristin says
Ha ha, I loved You Can’t Do That On Television. Remember Barth, the creepy cook in the cafeteria?
My other favorites were Double Dare and Guts — I wanted to be on Guts (and later on American Gladiators) for years!
Kath says
“Back to you, Mo!”
Erin says
After reading through many of the comments… I just can’t choose which show was my favorite! Nick had some quality shows during the 90’s. The only Nick show that I can think of that I DIDN’T like is Ren and Stimpy… So unnecessarily gross!
Amanda says
I didn’t have cable as a kid and have never watched any of these shows! I still don’t have cable though, guess I never really felt the need to watch TV as a kid or an adult.
Talia says
My faves were The Amanda Show, Rugrats, and All That! What can I say, I’m only 14! Spongebob is also a classic! Haha at least for me 😉
Andrea @ Sweet N Green says

Kath says
Oh fun!! I didn’t know Netflix had that!!
Michelle says
We didn’t have cable or satellite in the 90s, so I never really watched Nick. 🙁
But the other day I bought Organic Valley Sharp Cheddar! I look forward to my own cheese and jam conoction. 😉
Jessica says
I’ve been reading your blog for awhile, but this is my first time commenting! It was the Scharffen Berger that got me, lol. I <3 their extra dark and probably eat a piece almost every day, hehe.
I was also a big fan of Salute Your Shorts and Hey Dude! Pete & Pete was funny too. I also liked Clarissa Explains It All, and the Secret Life of Alex Mack. I wonder if I can NetFlix those?! lol
Kath says
It’s the best choco ever!
Heather @ Side of Sneakers says
Hey Dude. Hands down. 🙂
Mellissa says
Hey Dude and Clarissa were at the top of my list 🙂
Nelly says
Cheese and jam is the BEST! Everyone who’s ever seen me eat one gives me a look like I’m eating a sandwich of baby turtles, but the sharp/salty/creamy cheese and sweet/chunky berries just go together so perfectly!
I didn’t have a TV growing up, but my best friend did. I don’t remember how old I was, but one day we watched “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and I remember being scared out of my wits because I actually WAS terrified of the dark, and the story was something about a kid doing something he shouldn’t and then being dragged off to hell (quite the modern-day morality play, really :P). I had nightmares for weeks and my mom had quite a talk with my friend’s mother.
Stina says
I think loved almost every NICK show: Hey Dude (I even had books!), Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Doug, Alex Mack, Salute Your Shorts, Lengends of the Hidden Temple…oh man…

Alison says
Double Dare was my favorite. I remember my sister (age 27) watched Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts, but I didn’t. I’m a 7 years older, so that might be why.
I have an 8 year old daughter and now we watch iCarly on Nick. Kid tv has really changed since back in the day.

Meghann says
Too bad both those shows aren’t on netflix 🙁 Alex Mac is though!
Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness says
Oh my gosh, I loved Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts as well!
My favorite Nickelodeon show of all time would have to be Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, followed with Snick as a close second.
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
The Rugrats!!! I could watch it over and over and over again no matter how many times I’ve seen them. I even had the computer game and played it all the time. Nowaday’s they’re all grown up (really, the shows about them as young adults) but I liked the good ole’ baby episodes. Awwe thanks for the flash back 🙂

Help! Looking for a new food processor and wondering what you use… want to make some of that raw cookie nut dough, and also banana soft serve, of course! Any advice? thanks so much.
Kath says

Alison says
Love the Nick shows! I liked Salute your Shorts (one time they said my name in an episode (first and last) at least is sounded like it) and Brad from Hey Dude, was from my hometown, Grosse Pointe…That means I am famous by association! I remember it took me a long time to figure out why they called the counselor Ug….because his last name was Lee…put it together and you have Ug-Lee! Genius! I wasn’t allowed to watch “You can’t do that on television” because my parents thought they were disrespectful to adults…haha. My blog is about Saved by the Bell and Full House, but I should seriously consider talking about Nick shows too! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
