Morning!
Yesterday’s bowl of cottage cheese blueberry oats were SO GOOD that I had to have the combo a second day in a row. This time with a teaspoon of Cookie Butter instead of almond.
Cottage cheese not only gives the oats a subtle cheesy flavor (think cheese danish) but they come out sooo creamy too.
No beverage today so I could focus on the oats.
TV Round UP –
I am now caught up on The Office (pretty good episode), 30 Rock (so-so), Gossip Girl (not what I was expecting – a little bit of a let down) and Glee (EXCELLENT music this week!).
I also watch Selling New York and Selling LA every week. Along with every House Hunters that I haven’t seen. Sounds like a lot huh! But there are so many shows I don’t watch.
I’d love to get back into Survivor (when does a new season start?) and I’ve never seen an episode of LOST but my friend Hilary is going to help me remedy that!
And I can hardly wait for So You Think You Can Dance!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
LOVE House Hunters and My First Place.. I rarely find episodes I haven’t seen. I’ve resorted to watching HH International even though I am not a big fan!
KathEats says
The new HH episodes are always on at 10pm 🙂
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
Haven’t watched any TV at all this week, besides the News – darn classes! I really want to see this week’s Glee…maybe tonight! 🙂
HRCK the Herald says
I actually teared up multiple times during Glee this week. I feel like they’re back on their game!
Steve says
Use cottage cheese instead of yogurt, but otherwise keep same equal proportions and mix in cottage cheese in the morning, not the prior night?
KathEats says
Steve, This was stove-top whipped banana oatmeal, not overnight soaked oats. I stirred the cottage cheese into the hot oats a minute before they were done. But you could definitely sub out the yogurt for CC in overnight oats as well
Steve says
Same flavor experience (i.e. cheese danish), you think?
KathEats says
Close cousins 🙂
Cait's Plate says
Oooh definitely try LOST – you’ll get completely sucked in. I would also suggest New Girl – SO funny!
Ashley says
Yes! Definitely watch LOST! I didn’t start watching it until the final season was on TV, so I was watching dvd’s everyday after work until I went to bed to get caught up! But it was worth it! 🙂
Elisabeth says
I so need to go back & watch this show on DVD! I can’t believe I didn’t watch it when it was on…
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Great looking oats. Funny you mentioned Lost. I was just thinking yesterday, that Lost was the most frustratinging ending show, and if I ever saw it on in reruns, I would NEVER watch it again. I was watching reruns of Vampire Diaries on Netflix, and when I found myself so happy to be watching it again, it reminded me of how I used to love and then hated Lost. Good Luck!
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Don’t you hate when you hit submit before you fix your errors… 🙂 Frustrating!
Hillary B says
I actually agree with you, but I still love Lost! Seasons 1 and 2 are SO GOOD and then it’s like they out-lived their expectations and had to make up a lot of filler to keep going for seasons 3, 4 and 5. I still loved seeing how it wrapped up, though! My dad and I had ongoing theories about it, so it was neat to get some answers!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i LOVED glee this week!! that synchro swimming proposal was so cute. i just adore mr. shu 🙂
Kavi @ Lab to Fab! says
I used to love LOST! The good thing about watching old shows is that you don’t have to wait week to week to find out what happens next! Then again, you could find yourself watching even more TV 😉
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
I could (and do) watch House Hunters all freakin’ day and there comes a point where The Mr looks at me like “seriously??” and I turn it off…until he gets interested in something else then flip it back. Now you really have me missing You Can’t Do That On Television. I don’t know…*green slime*
Christine says
hilarious – slimed!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I used to be a very loyal Gleek but sort of lost interest in the plot last season. Having said that, I’ve heard a LOT of good things about the songs in the past couple of episodes so I think I’ll check them out!
The Healthy Hipster says
YAY to a new season of SYTYCD! NOW I remember how I made it through last winter… 🙂
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Oats look great!! I’ll have to try adding cottage cheese.
Have a great Thursday!
Kelly @ Vegolosophy says
I LOVE Selling LA and Selling New York, so cool!!! I love almost every home buying show because I want my own house haha..I sit there and dream up of what our house will look like someday 🙂
Kelsey Y. says
Gossip Girl disappointed me as well! Hopefully things will change for the better as the season progresses. And SYTYCD?! I’m jumping back on the bandwagon!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I LOVE Selling New York but they haven’t added any new episodes online! And I love catching up on shows, but then I get so dissapointed when I realize I’ve watched them all and have to wait until next week!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
This title made me smile – I just made “green slime” protein icing for my waffle and wrote a post about getting slimed. I miss those old Nick shows!
Tami @Nutmeg Notebook says
With Netflix we have been able to watch a bunch of old series that we missed when they originally aired. Lost was amazing!
Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
I still need to watch The Office…good thing it’s always online to watch!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I love cottage cheese in oats- both the warm and overnight varieties! Heck, I love cottage cheese in almost anything.
Ugh- I wasn’t able to watch last week’s 30 Rock last night… I’ll have to try to catch it on Hulu before tonight’s episode. Too bad that videos from any site are blocked at my work- that would be a good time to catch up!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I have always been a fan of cottage cheese…loved it as a kid…used to mix Thousand Island Dressing in with it in my salad. Haven’t been in to watching tv as late…to caught up in reading the last of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. Has anyone seen the movie?
Paige @ Running Around Normal says
I can’t wait to catch up on Glee!! Blaine is my dream boat 🙂
Allison K says
LOST!!!!! My husband and I resisted watching for a long time because everyone was so into it. But man…it is amazing. In my top 3 tv shows ever. Mmm and the eye candy isn’t so bad either.
Shannon says
The Glee episode had me almost in tears! I love that Rhianna song and thought that whole scene was just so cute!
What is this cookie butter? And you might have persuaded me to try the cottage chs in my oatmeal with that comment! 🙂
KathEats says
It’s a Trader Joe’s product – like Biscoff spread!
Khushboo says
Never tried cottage cheese in oatmeal but love the texture it adds to pancake batter!
Lexi @ Cura Personalis Foodie says
I started Pretty Little Liars, and I’m a little embarrassed to say I’m already a little bit addicted.
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
Your photos are stunning – they still get me every time and I’ve been reading your blog for years! Any advice for someone looking to get better at food photography?
KathEats says
Thank you!!
I recommend natural light and Adobe Lightroom 🙂
Candice says
Hi Kath, do you just use Lightroom and not Photoshop? Been thinking of making the switch (I do baby/family photography on the side) but I’m a little scared of having to learn something new. Also, do you use any ‘actions’ for your photos?
KathEats says
I use Lightroom for all of my photo editing and photoshop only if I need to design something or write on words. I used to use Pioneer Woman actions for a while, but Lightroom is significantly better for photo editing
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
You are totally right about this week’s Glee. I’ve been sort of disappointed with the show lately, but Tuesday’s episode was simply adorable!
Karen says
I agree…finally some decent plot, and two good cliff hangers!
Karen says
I can’t wait for season five of Mad Men to begin, which I understand will finally happen late March! My calander is marked!
Lindzjane115 says
I can’t wait! I got so excited when I realized 2012 meant a new season of Mad Men!!! Do you know the exact date?
Karen says
Sunday, March 25 🙂
Now, that’s good drama, huh?!
Elisabeth says
My favorites on TV right now are Unforgettable, Hawaii Five-O, The Mentalist and Parenthood. Hmmm…guess my thing is the hour-long dramas! 🙂 I am looking forward to the Voice starting in February, too.
Emilie @ Emilie's Enjoyables says
Also excited for So You Think You Can Dance! And I agree about the slight disappointment with GG.
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
Everyone is talking about Glee! We kinda gave up on it. I guess it’s better?
By the way, without fail, I forget to check the human box.
Maybe I’m part robot, like Tiffany from “Small Wonders”
Laura says
Finally found cookie butter– wow! I bought Lotus (which I think is the same as Biscoff), had to find it at a Dutch store here in Canada. It’s amazing, but everyone in my house is eating it :(.. Must find better hiding spot!!!
Sam says
LOST was awesome through the first two seasons. After that, it went downhill. However, it’s totally worth it to watch for the first two seasons!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
kath – you should definitely check out “smash” (the one w katherine mcphee and debra messing, produced by steven spielberg about marilyn monroe on b’way) which is premiering soon on NBC – i watched the pilot (there’s a link to the download on iTunes on my latest blog post) and think you’ll LOVE it.
KathEats says
Oh cool – what time is it on?
lynn @ the actor's diet says
it starts feb. 6th (mondays) at 10/9c
KathEats says
Sweet!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I love that little yellow cloth. My grandma used to embroider and needlepoint and that reminds me of some of the handmade dish cloths she had from ages ago…like the 1950s! It’s so sweet, I love it.
I also love cookie butter (they’re out for the last month in my area…boo and not expected to-be-restocked date due to supply issues) and love Biscoff too!
Hannah @ eat, drink, and save money says
There are way too many shows to keep up with! I feel overwhelmed with the ones I watch, but there are so many I don’t watch too.
Life's a Bowl says
Love the addition of cottage cheese or Greek yogurt to oats- it gives it such an irresistible thick and creamy consistency! I usually don’t add it till the end though, as a topping, with some crunchies like cereal… Wonder if it gives it any different taste versus cooking it directly into the oats?!
I’ve never gotten into The Office and seem to be watching a lot of trashy reality TV lately- The Real Housewives, The Bachelor… Although, I recently started watching Modern Family [got it on Nextflix] and think it’s hilarious!
Jennifer says
I just posted something but it didn’t show up? Is there a delay or something?
Jennifer says
OK I will try again-
I didn’t like GG either!! They could have done so much better w/that plot. That “promise” of Blair’s is so stupid!!
Also- did you know that Fox cancelled the SYTYCD results show?? So now they have to do everything in one show per week. Not sure how they are gonna work that but I guess we shall see!
KathEats says
REALLY!?!?!?! It was a huuuuuge time commitment. But I guess we didn’t “need” to see the extra group routines and things. They did drag it out a big. I wonder how people will vote though!?
Jennifer says
I’m not sure either, Nigel said he was trying to come up with something good! I think they might do the elimination at the beginning of the following week’s show….
Katie says
Ahh, you will DIE when you start watching Lost. I could have cancelled my whole life to watch that show straight through when I first discovered it. So stinkin good.
Kendall says
Like you, I was a bit late to the LOST game and started watching during the Fall. Seasons 1 and 2 (maybe 3) are pretty excellent and I was always rabid to watch the next. I’m halfway through the final season, and I kind of couldn’t care less! I’d definitely recommend it based on the first seasons, but unless you like convoluted story lines, prepare to be a little let down in the end. Maybe I am speaking WAY too soon and the finale will blow me out of the water?
Jen says
I gave up on Survivor and the Bachelor. I can’t take how catty and awful people ate to each other 🙁 makes me sad for humans. Have you seen ‘Love it or List it’? I got hooked on that one! I think it’s the W network?
Hilliary @Happily Ever Healthy says
House hunters is one of my favorite shoes!
Angel7 says
You got me hooked on House Hunters 🙂 I also like Selling New York, Selling LA, and my all time fave is Property Brothers.
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
Elizabeth says
I’m SO sad I missed the last episode of Gossip Girl, I had no idea they got into a car accident and now I feel left out of the loop. I need to download the episode to catch up.
I LOVE House Hunters and you nearly have me convinced I need to check out Selling LA & Selling NY!!
Brandee says
I hope you enjoy Lost! I didn’t start watching until I realized it was being filmed close to where I was living. Once I started though, I was addicted!
Sneakers2Sandals says
I loved Glee this week!!!
Hillary says
You’ve never watched LOST?! Oh, good lord, I was absolutely obsessed with that show.
Might I recommend Mad Men, Game of Thrones, and The Wire as well? Such good TV!
Emily says
Glee was good this week. I knew every song, and that does NOT happen very often. 🙂
Heather H @ Run Eat Play says
I haven’t seen Glee in so long! We mostly watch CSI, Big Bang Theory, and Jersey Shore. yes, I admit it!
P.S. I never remember to check that I’m a human! Lol!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I don’t watch TV at all…would much prefer to read or watch a movie!
oats look yumm!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
For some reason my oats always come out disgusting when I put cottage cheese in them! Maybe its the kind of CC I use 🙁
Sydney@ Nutrition with Sydney says
So I have to share a story with you: I’ m a regular reader of your blog, and my boyfriend always laughs when he looks over at my computer and sees my reading up on what you had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He just doesn’t understand the foodie world! Well, this semester both of us had to start blogs for classes we are in, and when I working on my post last night, I said that it was a little long, but I thought it would work. He turned and said, “You know, whenever I write a blog, I just think to myself WWKD?” I couldn’t figure out what he meant, but burst out laughing when I realized he was saying “What would Kath do?” haha
KathEats says
Hahhaha. Love it!
Diana @ frontyardfoodie says
I love your dishes. I just want to get rid of anything not eclectic in my cabinet and buy all stuff like yours. haha
RunEatRepeat says
I will never get over the loss of LOST.
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Lost will suck you in like Hunger Games. We watched the entire series in about 2 months. Loved it!
Emily says
lost is WEIRD but you can’t stop watching it once its started. no matter how hard you try you MUST know what happens next. and so you think you can dance is one of my ULTIMATE favorite tv shows of all time. ive been dancing my whole life and have dreamed about being on that show! i want the new season to start NOW!
marie says
LOST is amazing! I know some people stopped watching after the first couple seasons but I think the entire series is briliant. I have to say that I’m glad I was watching it while it was on television because the wait between each episode, reading blogs and listening to podcasts was something that made it even better and made us feel like we were part of something.
Amelia says
How do you have time to watch all these shows?! Seems like you have so many jobs, projects, and friend/husband fun on the books — I need to learn your tricks to find more hours in the day!
Linda says
Ok — love House Hunters, Selling NY, Parenthood, Glee, Pan Am, Big Bang Theory, The Chew, Dr. Oz, and CBS Sunday Morning. I DVR everything except HH & Selling NY and whiz through the commercials and watch when I have the time.
Bizzle says
Forget Lost! Must watch Downton Abbey!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I loved the music on Glee this week too! Especially “Summer Nights”!
You’re going to get SO hooked on LOST. My friend made me watch the first episode with her and we ended up watching 5 seasons in one summer!
Michelle (Better with Berries) says
I agree – Glee was great on Tuesday!! I honestly haven’t been very impressed so far this entire season, so I was so relieved for a great episode!
Emily says
So You Think You Can Dance is my favorite! Finding more and more in common with you through this blog!! I’d love to hear about how you got into the creation of a food blog because I am a college student and aspiring editor and would love to start a healthy food on a college budget-type blog!!!
Ali says
Survivor starts Feb 15th, both teams on one island…can’t wait!
Sarah says
I tried this out and it didn’t work…my oats weren’t creamy and delicious but I think I burned the cottage cheese. Whoops! Oats take care and attention!
Rebecca Campbell says
Hi, I just wanted to say that maybe you should do a post on your bowls! Where do you get all of these beautiful bowls? Some look handmade. Let us know :0)
