love this fabric, any ideas what brand/where i can find on the target site?
greenbean says
it was Dwell Studio for Target. I can’t find a link for it on the target website.
i found a link for it on another website and you can see that it takes you to the target homepage. http://blog.delphinepress.com/wish-list/wish-list-bedding-by-dwell-studios-for-target/
they may no longer sell it :-/
KathEats says
It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing they’d have on the site since it’s so small – but perhaps Dwell brand will help you find it? I found it in the tea towels section
Sweet and Savvy says
Love the lyrics! <3

HRCK says
I hated that song when it first came out, but now I think it’s beautiful. Pretty breakfast spread– gray and yellow are such a cozy color combination.
Meredith says
I don’t meant to be a bother… but isn’t it illegal to use Coldplay lyrics if you haven’t purchased the copyright? For people using them on Facebook it is different, but you profit from this website so legally I think you needed to have purchased the copyright and add a disclaimer saying so. Otherwise you’re profitting off the work of Coldplay and it is copyright infringement.
Katherina says
I just saw this post and immediately thought of that! This was the first google result I found- http://www.pdinfo.com/copyrt.php I doubt Coldplay is reading, but it’s still worth thinking about since this is a professional source of income for Kath.
KathEats says
I’ve added a credit to Coldplay, which I left off. But I also believe quoting a small portion of lyrics falls under fair use.
But also, if the above website’s statements were enforced, musicians who sing covers in bars and venues all over the country would be in legal battles, dance performances would be limited to really old songs or techno computer generated tunes and street performers would be in big trouble. I think musicians realize that a certain amount of use is beneficial – in the form of buzz marketing. Certainly illegal download of the original song or playing of that song in mass-marketed ways (like movies) would be much more problematic.
That said, I have deep respect for the music industry and if Coldplay were to have a problem with me quoting their song, I would gladly take it down.
April says
Covering a song or using it in a performance have different copyright rules than publishing lyrics.
But even without the legalities, it’s just polite to give credit where credit is due.
Lo says
I’m not sure I understand the defensive tone in the second paragraph. A simple “Oops – meant to put the credits on and forgot” would have sufficed and come off considerably less smug.
Michelle says
Not to get embroiled in something so ridiculous, but don’t support a complaint about the way someone handles their blog and THEN complain about the way they explain themselves to you.
I’m sometimes astounded by the nuttiness.
carla says
I wish there were “like” buttons in this comments section. Because if there were, I would like yours. Right on the money, lady.
Abby says
I don’t think there is anything “nutty” about a difference in opinion. I think the tendency for bloggers and their loyal followers to stand on guard at anything less than explicit praise and adulation is what qualifies as “nuttiness.” Kath is a grown woman, as are her readers. Surely she and those who read can appreciate a difference in opinion, and take it at face value, rather than see it as an attack against the person herself. Come on people! I love this blog and others, but it’s this lack of freedom for discourse perpetuated by the readers, not the bloggers themselves that ruins it for everyone else.
Michelle says
While I am just as likely as the next person to leave a critical comment (though, I’ve never had a reason to do so) – I happened to disagree with Lo in this case. It is in this spirit of free discourse that I leave my comment.
Ashley says
i agree — i truly don’t see what is so “smug” about bringing up a fair and valid point about how the same rules would be difficult to apply elsewhere and to indicate that there is a little bit of sway when it comes to what is infringement and what is not. i’ve probably read kath’s reply six times by now and am still not seeing the smugness. just solid articulation about an issue in a really complex industry. both kath and her original copyright-questioners had good points imo.
Jen says
LOL – just to inject a brighter note into this – I think if Coldplay were actually reading Kath and cared what she said…then that would be another story altogether! 🙂
Michelle says
LIKE!
Christina @ Just Running says
Shucks, I thought Kath was trying her hand at poetry. Can we look forward to an original Kath poem Monday morning?
Leah says
Why so defensive. I think,”oopss,I’ll fix that” would suffice”. I find it hard to relate as when there is this constant need to appear “perfect”.
I think anyone can forgive a mistake, but it just looks foolish when you are wrong and still try to defend your point.
Leah says
Also, complaining about your readers, “mean” or nice on Twitter is not exactly nice either Kath. It makes me feel you don’t appreciate your readers or our opinions unless they are praise. Do your advertisers deny you income from us “mean girls”. If they are appropriate comments to post, then can’t you simply post them here and respond to us “mean” girls here? I think we can disagree and be civil about it.
KathEats says
These aren’t not comments that simply disagree. They never are. These are comments like “you are a stupid smug bitch.” I’m not going to allow that on my site. If you want to disagree, that’s totally fine, but if it’s attacking my character or done in a disrespectful way, I’m not going to allow it on MY blog.
KathEats says
I did say I would fix it.
However, the posters were saying that I couldn’t have ANY lyrics on the site, and I was simply clarifying why I felt it was OK to quote
Leah says
I know, I know, how could you be wrong! 😉 (sorry I know thats sarcastic). It just seems like a little weird that your Twitter comment came around the same time as the cold play copyright comment.
However, I do not at ALL blame you for not wanting comments like those above on your website, that is rude and unacceptable, and certainly not worth your time to respond to, so I wouldn’t worry about not having their email addresses. Those types of comments are plain STUPID!!
On the other hand, I personally find you defensive and a tad snappy when you get any sort of critique, the coldplay comment is one in a long line of such examples.
I know you must work hard on your blog, but its good to have all sorts of feedback. Have a nice weekend Kath, I must say I am liking your blog more and more these days, so keep up the good work (that is sincere!)
KathEats says
Well it’s really, really, really hard to be criticized every single day and not get defensive. I would counter and say that I get the most defensive in the comments that have the most passive aggression, so I always feel it’s somewhat provoked.
I really do appreciate it when people ask questions that might be dissenting or challenging in a polite way – such as how you’re doing right now? I never delete those – never have. And what makes me mad is people accuse me of deleting any comment that isn’t glowingly nice, but really they just don’t notice when people disagree in a polite way because it doesn’t jump off the page as much or cause a stir. I’ve had plenty of intelligent debates with commenters over the years- they are just hard to find.
Christena says
I can’t believe people send you the kind of comment you quoted above and I don’t blame you one bit for deleting that kind of crap – or anything passive aggressive.
I think your response here (2nd paragraph) is good and consistent with what I have observed on your blog & in the comments.
Jules says
I believe I have been banned from commenting on your blog. I have never EVER directly or passive-aggressively attacked your character.
I have disagreed with your choice of words sometimes. And this ban came after I pointed out that “potato fries” have one ingredient: potatoes.
Maybe you can explain to me how that is directly offensive. It is a point of view. You can’t say you never do delete those, and never will because it is simply not true.
Heather says
Actually … Wouldn’t they have more than one ingredient ? What were they “fried” in ??
Jules says
Not necessarily – “potato fries” can be baked – the “fries” does not have to be taken literally. It’s common, especially in the healthy living blog world, for all sorts of vegetables to be sliced into “fry” shapes and baked – and then called “fries.” So no, potato fries would not need to have oil as an ingredient.
Brittnie (A Joy Renewed) says

LOL — Your chia seeds looked like pepper at first.
At the risk of echoing everyone else, these photos really are wonderful today. Perhaps it’s the yellow. Perhaps it’s because it’s kind of a cold, dreary day — the yellowy sunshine is just right.
