Mornin’
I think having a full cup of 100% caf coffee yesterday AM had me wired through the night. Both Matt and I had trouble falling asleep, and I’ve noticed this has happened before related to caffeine. Geez, my body is just super sensitive to all kinds of beverages! So I’m walking around with droopy eyelids today 🙁
Today’s bowl of oatmeal was made courtesy of Matt while I showered. As a result, I’m ready super early this morning!
The Mix
- 1/3 cup quick oats
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/2 banana
- Pinch salt
- Handful wheatberries
- Leftover Carrot Raisin Walnut Muffin
- Crofter’s
- Nuttzo PF
Nuttzo!
Here’s your discount:
Nuttzo PF is 10% off today! I am proclaiming a new name for this jar: Nuttzo Chia Fluff – because the chia seeds make this nut butter almost soft. My favorite part is also the hazelnut flavors that burst through the other ingredients (cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, flax, pumpkin seeds, sea salt).
To get the discount, we did have to bundle two jars at once. This guy is awfully pricey, but I promise you’ll be licking the bottom before you know it 😉 Price: $31. Coupon Code: GoNuttzo. Available in the KERF Shop here.
I also sampled some more Golden Moon tea at b-fast. Sugar Caramel Oolong.
Sadly, even with TWO packets, I still found it to be weak 🙁
Chicken Soup for the Soul:
HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY CAITLIN!!!
Peace
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
Wow, coffee in the morning keeps you awake at night? You must be supersensitve! My stepdad has a coffee at 10pm every night, and always sleeps fine…individual differences!
Have a good day 🙂
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Nuttzo chia fluff?! I want!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I’m really sensitive to caffeine too…sucks, but again– it’s kind of like being a cheap date, right? 🙂
Hope you have a great Monday!
Diana says
Yep, I’m super sensitive to caffeine and alcohol too. It’s just how I am so I rarely drink both. 🙂
Have a great day Kath!
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
Did you know that you can be allergic to caffeine? I found that to be interesting. You should get tested. 🙂
Muffin oats are looking goooooooooood!
Jenn
Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) says
Some people are really caffeine-sensitive, others can down a can of Coke and climb straight into bed. Caffeinated tea at night really affects me but as long as it’s more than 2 hours before bedtime, I’m fine.
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
I couldn’t sleep last night either, it’s the worst!
Shawna @ Balancing Me says
Wow, sorry that caffeine has such an effect on you! The difference between the caffeine in tea and coffee must be your breaking point.
Hope your day perks up!
Annie@stronghealthyfit says
I was hoping the discount on the Nutzo would make it affordable enough for me to rationalize buying some… but it didn’t. Btw, your store says it’s $35, not $31 🙁
Too steep for this student! I’ll keep looking forward to trying Nutzo.
Kath says
Sorry Annie, I fought for an even bigger discount myself, but this was as close as we could get it without losing money
Wei-Wei says
Apparently getting an “instant” energy boost from caffeine is just a psychological effect – it takes about 5 to 6 hours for it to have any stimulant properties! I’m not sure I believe it though… I wouldn’t know, caffeine has almost no effect on me 😛
$31?!?!??!?!?!? That… wow. Okay. It must be extremely beyond delicious… o.O
Have a great Monday! 😀
Wei-Wei
Kath says
5-6 hours? I can feel caffeine after only 30 minutes!
Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies says
I’m fairly sensitive to caffeine as well…so I’ve got to watch that I don’t get too coffee happy in the afternoon or something if I’ve got to get to bed early!
Jenny says
Ugh- I hate the coffee cycle – when you drink it to wake up then it keeps you awake all night, and you feel like you need more!
theemptynutjar says
I would so order that stuff if I could afford it. It would have to be free first!
Nice oats Kath, as always. Have you ever put raisins in your hot or cold cereals? Its so great, I love that also.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
I have a friend who can’t drink any caffeine or else she’s up all day and night as well. Fun stuff. 😉
Your oats look so summery and picturesque today. Yummy! 😀
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Sorry to hear about the rough night… hope your Monday gets a lot brighter!
Simply Life says
Caffeine definitely affects my sleep – even if I have chocolate shortly before bed!
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
That stinks you had trouble sleeping, but at least Matt made you oats while you showered! I know you don’t love the instant oats, but those look amazing!
Lisa C. says
I’ve found that I really can’t have more than one caffeinated beverage before 2 pm or else I will be kept up. There is nothing worse than being kept up by caffeine!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Oh yum, that Nutzo sounds so good! Have a great day…I hope there is sunshine in your future, that always helps me wake up!
Shannon (The Daily Balance) says
the nut butter sounds delish – love the fluff factor! I dunno about the price, though! especially if it’s addicting!
have a great day 😉
Marla says
How can anyone afford that price? Yowsa that is sooooo much moola!I buy my organic nut butter for a very low price locally and love it.
Teawise Kath I think the flavored teas just can’t compare to a really tasty strong black tea(looseleaf preferably).Do you find the flavored teas weaker as I do?I can’t stomach those for breaky myself.
Are all your teas gone from Africa trip?Hmmm maybe GlidingCalm will send you some tea samples from her tea adventures in India recently 😉 (fun when blogs collide!)
Christie {Honoring Health} says
I hear you on the caffeine. I gave up coffee, tea and chocolate for the longest time and recently got re-hooked on tea and chocolate and it had me wired. I can’t even have a cup of green tea anymore after 11am or I can’t sleep. Bah.
Veggielady4life says
How sweet that Matt made you breakfast! I need to convince my husband to start getting up earlier to make my breakfast!! 😀
Christina says
I had a carrot cake muffin in my oats this morning too. Yum!
jen trinque says
Yup, $31 is still too rich for my blood, but maybe someday I’ll bite the bullet and get some! Until then, I’ll just have to watch you enjoy it.
Meg @ Be Fit Be Full says
And here I am again. Comment #27. Weird, weird!
I wish caffeine got me wired! I could take a nap after four cups of coffee 🙂
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
Chia fluff?! Umm yum!!! If I didn’t already have a million jars of nut butter open I’d be all over that!
I’m not really sensitive to caffeine but I’m SUPER sensitive to alcohol, so I feel you.
Camille says
Thanks for the Nutzo discount, sounds great!
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
I’m super sensitive to everything. I can’t have more than one shot of coffee or I’m absolutely bouncing off the walls and really jittery.
skinnyrunner says
the tea sounds really good, sugar caramel… yum.
Midgetkeeper says
Caffeine has never done much for me, but then again I’ve never had more then one serving and I like my coffee kind of weak .
Have a great day!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
i’m so sorry that you’re body is so sensitive to caffeine…i’m that annoying person who can down some espresso 2 minutes before bedtime and sleep through the night fine. the tea sounds AMAZING though!
Lauren says
I really need to cut the caffeine addiction that I’ve developed lately. My body is so sensitive to it, too!
Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) says
I love both that mug and tea strainer. Having a customized accessory that adorable would almost make me trade in my morning joe for tea…ALMOST.
What a sweet husband to make you a rockin’ bowl of oats in the morning. Looks delish!
Erin (thehealthyapron.com) says
I have yet to try chia seeds!!
runnerforever says
Maybe get another big and STRONG coffee this morning hehe.
Amber K says
I had to completely cut out caffeine to try and get my sleeping back on track. Luckily, it was easy for me as I can’t stand coffee in any shape or form, and tea tastes awful to me as well.
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
even though he reads my blog, i can’t imagine my husband getting my oatmeal “right.”
Caitlin says
When you put muffins in your oatmeal, about how much of one do you put in each bowl? I am always curious!
Kath says
Maybe a 2″ by 1″ piece? All crumbled up? Maybe 1/4 a cup of crumbles?? About 1/6 of the muffin? Hard to gauge!
Caitlin says
thank yoU!
Carter says
Wow. That’s some crazy-‘spensive PB. Not so much for the budget-conscious. Must be quite tasty. Are we sure it’s not caviar-based?
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I’ve grown to love coffee along with my caffeinated tea but if I forget and have more than one cup I am WIRED!
Lorin says
Do you only put a 1/3 cup of oatmeal in because you have other toppings on there? Because I always use 1/2 cup.
Kath says
Yes, I started using less when I amped up the fun toppings
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
That’s to bad that the tea is weak with 2 bags. What if you steep it longer?
Hannah says
Does Matt make that oatmeal for himself, too, when he prepares it? Or just for you? Either way, it’s so lovely 🙂
Kath says
He loves it too!`
