(Said in the voice of a pirate)
Today was all about cleaning up the yard! We finished 95% of the back yard and have just the front to organize.
We walked to the grocery store and back at 10 and picked up 2 reusable bags’ worth of produce, plus yogurt and milk.
Once home, the shovels came out…
We worked for 3 straight hours. Here are some before and afters for you to enjoy!
Dead flowers…
Just rosemary…
Out-of-control mint (and out-of-control hose!)
Matt also FINALLY repaired the shed door. I encourage all of you who are not selling your houses to just pretend that you are and fix it up for yourself!!
After the yard, we moved on to the garage, which was WORSE! It’s where we put things that we don’t know what to do with 🙂 But now it has been sorted and I have a trunk full of stuff for my mom and Goodwill.
My oatmeal pancake held me over allllllllll morning. Seriously – no signs of hunger from about 8AM – 2PM. And even when I came down from a shower at 3PM I wasn’t that hungry. So strange.
I had just what I’ve been craving since Thanksgiving – yogurt and cranberry sauce.
~1/2 a cup of Oikos with ~1/4 heaping cup cranberry sauce and the Best Damn Granola (which I am almost out of and will definitely miss!)
On the side I had a pile of carrots + celery with a heaping TBSP of Costco PB and 3 clems!
I’ve got to do some laundry and sort through my wedding box so I only keep the very important stuff. Then I am settling down with THIS! I’m halfway through and need to pick up my pace.

What are you thinking of the book so far? Maguire is my favorite author currently, I LOVED Wicked! The sequel is good too, in my opinion.
Kath says
Honestly, it’s kind of slow. I need a good plot to keep me reading! But that said, I am enjoying it. The characters are very interesting. Hopefully my opinion will change as we go through.
Sam (Merit to the Carrot) says
Busy afternoon! You have a beautiful backyard. You also had a beautiful lunch! Enjoy your book!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I’m the same way with books! I need it to seriously keep me going the entire time. If I get even the tiny bit bored, I close the book and most likely never go back. I should be a little easier on the books I read 😉
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I did that with our apartment on time. We spruced it up and it was beautiful. We need to do that again 🙂
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
That’s excellent advice about maintaining your home. I’ve been craving yogurt + berries, wrong season, huh? lol That bowl looks delish. 😀

Hi Kath, loved your post today 🙂 You look goood in those puma pants!!
Anyway, I was just wondering if you’ve ever heard of this: Soy makes you fat.
My friend just told me a new study came out about that and I wasnt sure to take her word or not. What is your opinion on it?
Kath says
As far as I only, the only thing that makes you fat is a positive energy balance!? If you could send me the study, I could give a better opinion!

Cleaning up the yard and garage is definitely a huge project to undertake! But it will REALLY help move along the sale of any house. 🙂
Love your simple lunch. Honeslty, the simplest lunches can be SO appealing!
Lauren says
Oh my, 8 hours without eating?!?! I am hungry just thinking about that notion. LoL. Those must have been some FILLING pancakes girl! 🙂
Ameena says
I agree! Better to fix things up and enjoy them instead of just when you are selling your house. I made that mistake once but I don’t plan on doing it again!
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
Looks like a successful sunday! Love the idea of cranberry sauce with yogurt…yum:-)
christie @ honoring health says

Looks like you did a great job with the yarrrrrrrd work, haha
candice says
Haha, looks like you did a good job with the garden. I haven’t been hungry all day, either! Probably due to the festivities and excessive amounts of food these past few days. My body’s trying to recover!

I’m taking my little sister to see Wicked in January! She’s very excited.
I love, love, love cranberry sauce and plain yogurt. Such a perfect combo.

Garden work sounds really fun! I’ve never been much of a gardener but could be fun. Maybe someday I’ll have a great garden!

yogurt looks great!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Yard work always feels good. Enjoy going through your wedding box…good luck classifying anything as “unimportant.” Every time I try to weed mine out, I just end up throwing it all back in! 🙂

I hate when my tummy plays tricks on me. Like I don’t feel full after eating, and yet hours later I’m not even that hungry. It’s nuts!

Wow, awesome job on the yard! I wish we owned a house and had stuff to fix..but maybe that is more of a “careful what you wish for” thing? 🙂 Gad you were productive..oh and I am going out to get cranberry sauce for my yogurt, great idea!

I can’t believe it’s warm enough out there to do yard work! That’s so crazy! Here in the Northeast it’s getting pretty chily. I never knew Wicked was a book! I’ll have to pick up a copy!
Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now says
Glad you’re getting lots of stuff done around the house!
Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) says
Super nice job on the garden- don’t you find it very rewarding? I have this bizarre love for pruning, though I never do it. It’s just so fun to cut branches just above where you know a bud will grow in a particular direction. Like creating the growth patterns!
And I just love ripping out old plants, weeds. My back doesn’t love it though!
