We’re movin’ along on our Saturday over here. We went to the gym this morning via bike. I just stuck to some light ellipticaling because yesterday was intense with my boot camp moves and biked back home. I was pretty starving when I got here!
We’ve got a fun food event tonight so I kept lunch light – with volume to fill me up.
I steamed some broccoli, bell pepper, carrot, parsnip and kale in the microwave and had that over a bed of romaine tossed with balsamic and lemon olive oil. Plus some leftover feta, flax and walnuts.
Plus half an orange on the side (split with the husband)
He made an amazing sardine salad melt, of which I had a bite.
And I served my salad in his bowl so I could soak up some of the flava.
20 minutes later, while full of veggies, I still felt kind of empty. I decided to add some protein in the form of heavy yogurt – along with some jam and Quaker Oatmeal Squares. Perfecto! Actually, it was almost too much in addition to the big salad, but I definitely won’t need a snack before our 6pm reservations.
After lunch I cleaned all the floors and did some more laundry. And we watched some more Always Sunny. It’s not going to be my favorite show, but I’m enjoying it so far. I don’t think the acting is as good as The Office or Arrested but I do think it’s interesting.
Barney Butter <3
I received an email from reader Laura, who was one of the lucky Barney Butter winners. Looks like she’s almost out 🙁
Hi Kath!
I was one of the lucky winners of your Barney Butter giveaway. I remember you had asked us to let you know how we enjoyed eating our BB. As you can see, I’ve reached the bottom of my jar. 🙂 I attached a picture of my favorite way to eat nut butters in general, which is with banana on sandwiches. I also love to eat it in oatmeal. Just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the jar that I won! (So did my dog Rocky, I’d stuff his hollow bone with a tiny bit occasionally)
I’m SO EXCITED about tonight!!!!!!! The suspense!!

I STILL have not tried Barney Butter. I tried a kind of almond butter that my uncle bought me for Christmas (yes, I have the kind of reputation where my family knows this is an excellent gift for me!) and I loved it, but I wonder if Barney Butter is Better. That salad looks great, Kath!

Aww, I like to split my oranges with Bobby too 🙂 It’s the only way I can get him to eat fruit! Enjoy your night!

You’re eating zebra for dinner? :p
Laura says
I’ll have to order some more Barney Butter. I may try the chunky kind next time around.
I’m curious to see what you have planned for dinner. A zebra is an interesting clue! 🙂

Are you guys going where I think you are going?!?! Let me know how it is, I have been wanting to try it out forever. By the way, I saw the first photo of your salad and thought it was from a restaurant, then I realized you made it yourself. Looks delicious!

I finally bought some barney butter after all your rave reviews! I can’t wait to try it! Have fun tonight whatever your plans may be 😉

I’m curious to see what’s going on tonight! The zebra made me think of a gala type thing they have here in Houston that’s a sample of nice restaurants in the area and it’s held at the zoo. Maybe it’s something like that??
VeggieGirl says
Have fun at the event tonight!!

perhaps a black and white affair/tux and tails. little debbie Zebra cakes…what ever could it be.
Amelia says
Really have to try Barney Butter. Everyone raves about it! I’m interested to see what your zebra clue means 🙂
haya (living and learning) says
i guess something at the zoo! i’m thinking of something like zoomerang (if anyone watches ace of cakes). can’t wait to hear about it.
the picture of the zebra matches your couch
Stacy (IN) says
I have to say the first thing that came to mind was Zebra Cakes, although I doubt you’re really a Little Debbie fan 🙂
Mom says
Stacy,
She sure liked them when she was little. Don’t let her tell you otherwise…

i TOTALLLY agree with your assesment of Always Sunny – its the “watch once” kind of show, not a DVD season you’ll watch over and over again.
I love how you used the sardine bowl for your salad!
Sarah (Tales of Expansion) says
mmmm, feta makes everything delicious (as does sardine melt juice :-)). can’t wait to hear about the mystery food event tonight!
Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
I’m not sure if I think its gross or cool that you ate out of your husband’s dirty bowl =) I think I’m just jealous that my Type A, germaphobe self could never pull it off.
I’m excited to hear about the “fun food event!”
Andy says
Do you think you’ll ever go back to calorie counting? Are you genuinely happy with the way you look? It’s such a daunting phrase, calorie-counting. For many it brings back bad memories, and a restricted feeling.
Kate says
oooh!!! I love the suspense-Have fun!

Yes, I used to love Little Debbies. Esp. the Swiss Cake Rolls!
Andy ,
I doubt I’ll ever go back to counting as closely as I did during my weight loss, but if I happen to gain some weight back (gasp!) I would probably use the same method to lose again. I have gained small amounts since entering maintenance and just cutting back on portions/snacks /extras has worked well enough for now, which is how I’d like it to stay forever.
Trust, Hope, Believe,
Thanks for your comment – yes they were filling, but mostly with all of my toppings. good luck with your blog!
