Love my commute to work (on a non-rainy, relatively warm day
)Montana Zeb is here!!
And my dad’s cousin Carol came to visit me! Her Franklin Lakes, New Jersey accent reminded me so much of my grandmother Younger, her aunt : )
We had a grand treat for lunch – Alex made us a sandwich sampler so Zeb could try all of our varieties. Pimento cheese, twin Oaks tofu + pesto, curried tuna, chicken salad, banana + almond butter crunch, and Monticello Garden.
Zeb said his favorite was a tie between the Monticello Garden (lemony hummus + veg) and the Banana Almond Butter Crunch!
A pile O Virginia chips to share on the side
And an Honest Tea for dessert!
I apologize for the Insta-heavy post – blogging from my phone today so I didn’t have to lug in the SLR!
Now the big question is: which restaurant should we pick for dinner!?
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Ahh I’m so jealous, a sandwich sampler platter! I have the worst time making decisions and always just want a bite of everything, that would be amazing!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
The sandwiches all look and sound delish…I think I would pick Banana Almond Butter Crunch it sounds amazing to me! As does diner out!
Hannah says
I’m not very fashionable myself but I really love your shirt! Very flattering color and neckline for you!!
KathEats says
THanks 🙂
jane says
agreed! I have found that with a larger chest a lower neckline is more flattering. when you(general you) try to cover a big chest up it just seems to accentuate! oh the woes 😉
Britt says
The shirt is cute and it’s really showing your baby boy !
Kimberly says
Yes! That shirt is one of the more flattering things I’ve seen you wear on the blog! Very cute and slimming!
Allison K says
Big breasts can be so hard to dress! My college rookie was a 32A and she could wear any shirt with out worrying about appropriateness. I always felt like I needed to make sure I didn’t look like a floozy.
I read once ( and I agree) that a shirt with a v-neck and 3 quarter length sleeves is almost universally flattering.
Allison K says
Damn autocorrect…that should say college roomie.
KathEats says
I generally buy V-necks and avoid scoop necks. I love turtlenecks, but they are not becoming!
Andrea says
Love that sandwich sampler! And no need to apologize for your photos! Instagram photos can be fun 🙂
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Samplers are the best – great for the indecisive like me!
Kaila @healthyhelperblog! says
Mmmm sandwich sampler?! Sign me up!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
never apologize for instagram! love the pics… and the food 🙂
R says
Mmmm Zocalo. I wish I were going to Zocalo tonight. That, or The Local- goes with your local theme of the day!
lindzjane115 says
Have you tried Whiskey Jar yet? I went for brunch/lunch, but it was good, Southern fare!
KathEats says
Not yet!! It’s on our list 🙂 And Zeb does love whiskey!
Michelle (Peachy Palate) says
Lovely spread! I need to bake myself some gluten and wheat free sandwich bread, I think I need a bread maker!
Catalina @ Cake with Love says
The sandwich platter looks delicious!!! Nice commute to work, mine is also not bad we live in Jersey City on the Hudson river, so we have this gorgeous Manhattan view and the company I work for is a 15 minutes walk on the boardwalk, it is very nice!
Mom says
Hi Carol. You cousins look good!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
No apologies necessary on your blogging format…can’t even believe how many posts you get up every day, run a biz, and grow a human 🙂
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
What a delicious lunch! I love the sandwich samples and the chips in the middle. Have a great dinner! 🙂
Jennifer (The Gourmetour) says
YUM!! All of those look delish. I don’t eat sandwiches all that often and today for lunch, even before I read your blog, I decided to have a sammy and I was so happy with this decisions. I forget how much I love them!
Mariel says
The Local! Or Tavola if it’s still cold tonight! Yummy hearty Italian always hits the spot.
Roger says
I’m reading your blog from home in Franklin Lakes, NJ. What a coincidence! I don’t recognize Carol by sight, but I wonder if she has relatives in town that I might know… Cool. 🙂
KathEats says
Oh fun! My Aunt Marion lived there too for years. I visited once and walked on a frozen lake! It was very scary!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Such a cute lunch spread! Lucky guest! 🙂
Val @ Tips on Healthy Living says
So jealous of your commute. What a way to start the day. And Instagram makes everything look cooler!
Laura @ She Eats Well says
Your lunch looks so pretty and delicious. I love the variety factor. And am quite jealous.
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Love sandwiches and that’s a tasty looking spread!
Cait's Plate says
Don’t apologize for the Instagram! I’m completely obsessed myself – I love seeing what others use for filters 🙂
And oh my – if I sat down to that table of sandwich samplers I might never leave. Speaking of Which Wich…that’s on my list of places to visit in Charlotte. I have a sinking suspicion nothing I get there would be able to compare to a GH Cville sandwich 🙂
TeenyLittleSuperChef says
Oh man, I would have a serious problem with all those delicious sandwiches to choose from. I think the almond crunch would probably be a top contender for my favorite too. Then again, you could slather pretty much anything on Great Harvest breads and they would still taste good! Baby KERF must be a happy little guy (or girl?).
KathEats says
Guy!
Alicia says
Seeing that spread makes me wonder…would a sandwich flight be a possibility or just a logistical nightmare?
How tall is Zeb? I ask because it seems to me that Matt is a pretty tall fella, but in that picture Zeb looks to be a good 3 or 4 inches taller. (height and teeth are the two things I always notice about people!)
KathEats says
I think for the public, it would be pretty hard to assemble in a quick service restaurant like ours. But in a sit-down place a la slider flight, it would be cool!
Angel7 says
You look so pretty, Kath! You are always glowing 🙂
Gotta love those kettle cooked chips!

Allyson says
Did you know there is a sandwich place called Which Wich? When I saw the title of the post, I thought you were going to blog about how you ate there! haha I’m sure it has nothing on GH, though 🙂
Sarah M. says
So funny that when I saw this title, I thought you were talking about the restaurant (sandwich shop) named Which Wich that just recently opened in Charlotte! 🙂
Jen says
I like the Insta – still keeps a “vintage” vibe 🙂
Laura says
I just feel its necessary to share that I had my first savannah bar today and it miiiiiight have been literally the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth!! Wow!! Kudos to great harvest!
KathEats says
Yay!
Sana says
Instagram is the new DSLR, it’s worth a billion dollars!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Love the commute — been doing it as well, either by bike or by foot. Nice to have options! Sandwich sampler looks super fun. 🙂
Jane says
I’m really curious about the thai, indian, or Vietnamese places in cville. I’ve noticed you mostly eat at American-type restaurants (which all look amazing!!) but do you ever branch out to the ethnic cuisines? Nothing beats Saag paneer or chicken tikka masala with naan:) maybe you could try that tonight!
KathEats says
I have to be in just the right mood for ethnic cuisine. We have ordered from Siagon Cafe a few times! I do love a green curry, but we haven’t done much thai here yet. Great sushi place downtown that we went to once called Ten. Pregnancy turned me off to all spices but they are coming back.
Margaret says
What a temptation to have a collection of little sample sandwiches to delight the taste buds.
That beautiful pathway looks like prime pram pushing territory, what a view for Bub on the way to see Daddy at work.
Kammie @ Sensual Appeal says
Sandwich sampler? That sounds awesome! & Instagram is great, no worries 🙂
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
I like the instagram photos….rustic feel 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
As always, lunch looks great!
Chelsea @ Designs on Dinner says
Wow, all those sandwiches sound amazing. I’d like to try the banana and almond butter crunch as well–sounds like a winner!
RJ says
Is Mountain Zeb single? What a great smile! I may need to call in sick to work tomorrow and road trip to Charlottesville for lunch! 🙂
KathEats says
Haha unfortunately he is married with a baby 🙂
RJ says
In that case, I’ll limit my drooling to the sandwiches! 🙂
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Oh I love Virginia Chutney Co.!! Awesome company!
Annette @FitnessPerks says
I LOVE tasting samplers…that looks awesome!
Rachel says
I’m curious do you guys cook the Twin Oaks tofu before you serve it? I’ve always baked or sauteed mine, but yours often looks straight out of the package? Twin Oaks tofu is hands down the best tofu I’ve ever had!
And I am always jealous of your commute to work! I’d don’t have as long a commute as some people, but I wish I could easily walk/bike to work everyday! I only live 4 miles from work so biking would be an option if the streets didn’t terrify me!
KathEats says
Yes we bake it!
Katherine says
Nice blog! I’ve tagged you!

Tamra says
Another Q about Zeb. 🙂 Is his full name Zebulon? My husband loves that name for our someday adopted child (if it’s a boy)… wondering how Zeb’s name has treated him over the years. Does he love it? Hate it? Just curious!
PS – you really are glowing in the pic!
KathEats says
I’m really not sure…
Matt says
Yes it is
Khushboo Thadani says
Wow I’m amazed you blogged this from your phone…i am more and more tempted to download Instagram!
