Hey there!
This morning was successful in work:
Chalkboards ordered for the bakery
Sneezeguards picked out
Emails floating around about carrying local/organic foods for our sandwiches ( <—so much harder than you realize!!)
Body Pump
Despite the weather, I actually biked to the gym and back! Who is this girl now not afraid of a little rain!? (BICYCLE RIGHTS! <—that video is SO MATT!)
Body Pump was express today (a shorter class for lunchtime) and I didn’t feel like I got as good of a workout. Who is this girl who is asking for MORE weight lifting!? I think I’m going to go to Saturday’s class to make it 3x this week. That’s a lot for me! More lifting then I have ever done in my life! But I’m still loving it. And my muscles are too!
My purpose in life is not to review the buckwheat bake, but just because I know some of you are wondering, it never really filled me up! I had a slight empty feeling all morning, but not really hunger. That said, I went from 9am when I finished eating to 1:30pm when lunch was ready no problem at all. So it’s still a great breakfast, and I’ll be eating it again!
The one good thing about cloudy days is they make for vibrant food photographs!
I had a leftover slice of pizza (always heated up – cold pizza is gross!!) with an orange
And a big salad with lots of toppings!
- Mixed greens
- Carrot
- Leftover pizza veggies
- Avocado
- Nutritional yeast
- Dried fig
- Dried cherrries
- Olive oil, honey, lavender salt
Something is wrong with this picture below. Anyone know what it is!?
I was feeling munchy a little bit later and dug into my Aunt’s magical secret recipe oatmeal cookies and had two small ones for a snack. LOVE those! Looks like Larbs has been enjoying hers too! I’m guessing my mom hasn’t had any left since we left Towson!
Nibble nibble.

Sounds like you had a productive busy morning. Your lunches always look so good! That salad is making my mouth water.
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Mmm…. cookies.
Great, now I want something sweet! 🙂
megan @ whatmegansmaking says
I used to always eat cold pizza, but now I have to warm it up! I do love leftover pizza – especially when it’s homemade! 🙂
Jessie says
Yea bicycle rights!
Hannah @ Healthy Whip says
The lunch looks great, but I have to say I ADORE cold pizza! My dad used to put it in my lunch box as a treat when I was at school- it reminds me of that! 🙂
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
Umm there’s no kitty cat in the photo?! Me me me! I’ll email you later.
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
The fork should be on the left hand side since you are left-handed? That is a guess but I think it is a good one! 🙂
I like delivery pizza cold, but homemade pizza needs to be reheated!
KathEats says
YOU WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m a lefty 🙂
Abby says
There are two more things we have in common. lol. Cold pizza=ick and I’m a lefty too! 😛
Christine says
Aww man!! You beat me to the answer! I totally got it only to scroll down and find out I didn’t win.
Sarah R says
I noticed the fork right away too! Darn it!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
crazy!! hahaha I was realllly thinking hard but couldn’t figure it out. all i came up with was, “hmmm perhaps–the fork is sliiiightly crooked?” 😛
Tatomme Flanagan says
I just thought the fork was on the wrong side in general!
Florentina says
I agree. The fork in the left hand, knife in the right hand.
Mom says
What are sneeze guards? They sound worriesome.
Jack O'Brien says
They’re the glass barriers that are between you and the person preparing your food. They are usually covered in fingerprints from eager sandwich watching folk haha
Mom says
Oh and you guessed correctly. My cookies seem to have disappeared.
Kristi @ KristiAteIt says
I only like leftover pizza a little bit warmed, or just not cold anymore. It tends to get kind of soggy or really hard if you heat it up too long.
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
Hot pizza is the only way to go!!
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
Your lunch is so pretty! And I really want one of those cookies…
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I know I say this every time, but your salad pics are always so pretty 🙂
Amanda (The Nutritionist Reviews) says
Just curious but how to cloudy days help your photographs? I’ve never heard that before!
KathEats says
Light bounce off the sky and no direct light
Kim @ Spoonful of Sass says
Also a good thing to say to a bride on her cloudy wedding day! That’s when I learned that fun photography fact!
KathEats says
My wedding day was cloudy and I did NOT LIKE IT!!!!!!!! 🙂
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
Gorgeous salad Kath!
Angel7 says
Cold pizza is not for me!
Your food always looks impeccable! The salad looks oh-so-good!
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
Stacey says
Pizza always has to be reheated. I have eaten cold pizza in my past but a few minutes in the oven/ micrcowave to make the pizza that much better is so worth it.
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
I learned from our wedding photographer about cloudy days being the best days for light and photography. Well, I want great pictures but I don’t want a cloudy day on my wedding…dilemma! I will be getting married during sunset on the beach so maybe sunsets are great for pictures too 🙂
Body Pump is addicting huh? I’ve never really enjoyed lifting weights until I started taking Body Pump.
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
You make me want to eat a salad!
Courtney says
Wow, Kath…take that as a huge compliment…I am pretty sure Jessica NEVER says that! 🙂 You two are so great…love reading your blogs everyday!
KathEats says
Haha – SCORE!! It tasted amazing 🙂
B & B says
Lurvin’ the pizza. I have to re-look at the recipe. Is that eggplant on it? I’ve never gotten into eggplant – either too bland, too bitter or too mushy. But I’ve discovered that grilling it is fantastic-o!
Do you have a simple recipe for a salad dressing for 1 person?I typically just douse in vinegear, mustard and salsa!
Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says
magical secret recipe oatmeal cookies = nice, I’d have a few too
I love the little playing card emblems you used as bullet points. It’s the little things that really excite me 🙂
Molly @ the F-spot says
The key to warming up leftover pizza is to do it in a skillet or pan on the stovetop. The bottom gets crispy again and the top gets melty. Try it next time!
KathEats says
That’s exactly what I did!
Courtney says
Why have I NEVER thought of this!? *lightbulb*
JenATX says
a toaster over works great too because it heats up so fast
Deva (Voracious Vorilee) says
I use my toaster oven when reheating pizza – soo good!
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Why have I never done this??!!!! Genius!
Laughter-Loving Stacy says
lol I *love* cold pizza! But I made a calzone last night so I will be heating that up for sure! 🙂
Julie @ Lettuce Choose Healthy says
whattt i love cold pizza!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Lunch looks yummy! Love the salad, and leftover pizza is the best.
Overcast here, too, but my pictures did not suffer by the window. A little run through Photoshop and all was well. 🙂
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I do oat bakes for dessert since they don’t do it for me for breakfast. Your eats look delicious…now I want pizza!
[email protected] says
Love this post – so funny 🙂
Janine
Lauren @ Healthy Delicious says
Your photos are exceptionally pretty today! I never understood eating cold pizza… ick!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I was going to guess the left hand side thing too!! I’m right handed and always put my forks on the right side. I rarely eat with a spoon so I don’t even bother pulling one out of the drawer – except when I’m taking food photos… the knife always looks lonely on its own! Your lunch looks amazing!
natalie (the sweets life) says
have you read the new rules of lifting for women? i just started it this week and not only is it super interesting, but it makes me REALLY excited to continue lifting more and more. i used to be a cardio queen and i’ve since changed…but now i want to lift even more seriously! check it out sometime if you haven’t! 🙂
KathEats says
I have the book, but it got lost in my move! I think it’s in the basement somewhere..
Amy (Honey, Love and Other Things) says
I just read that book! Cassandra Forsythe, the nutritionist who helped write the book, came to my Sports Nutrition class and really got me thinking about lifting. I just started the program and I attend Cassandra’s Bootcamps on Monday nights. I love feeling stronger!
Meg says
I know I’ve said this before but going through your blog is like flipping through pages of a Martha Stewart publication, haha!
I love me some cold pizza, not gonna lie!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
So glad to hear of your dislike for cold pizza. My friends think I’m nuts, but I cannot stand the stuff! I’ll barely eat it leftover, but if I do it MUST be re-heated in the oven.
Lisa (bakebikeblog) says
wow – you werent kidding! Those photos ARE so vibrant!
Arianna says
i live in portland, and i’m loving your portlandia references. ha.
Chelsea says
Yay for bicycle rights!! For all the times I’ve gotten in trouble on my bike….from the police 🙁 booo….Williamsburg, VA is so not bicycle friendly! Anywho your salad looks delish, you inspire me everyday to add more and more veggies in my meals 🙂 I’m too much of a fruit eater!
Emily @ Savory and Savage says
That orange is so bright it almost looks fluorescent.
The cloudy day does add an extra special glow to the picts.
Ashley says
Ooooooooooo that light is perrrrrrrrrrfect 🙂
Lisa says
That’s MY city! 😉 And it’s totally true. #Portlandia
Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama says
Wow cloudy days really do make for great pictures. Yours look amazing in this post!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I love cold pizza! It’s the best part about leftovers- eating it straight out of the fridge 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Another awesome salad mix Kath! I’m always so impressed by the combinations you come up with.
Thanks for the hunger-filling-rating from the buckwheat bake this morning. I was curious to see how well it held you over!
Hannah says
The word “sneezeguards” always make me giggle and feel slightly queasy at the same time.
Holly says
I knew the fork was on the wrong side right away! (I read all of Miss Manners’ book from front to back. For fun.) Anyway, the fork always goes on the left, whether you’re a lefty or a righty. Are those even words? The spoon and the knife are together on the left, with the spoon closest to the plate and the shark edge of the knife facing in. They both rest on your napkin. (In case of fine-dining emergencies, now you know 🙂 )
Just found your blog–LOVE IT! I love oatmeal, but have never branched out beyond brown sugar and raisins, so I’m anxious to try some of your concoctions. I find it doesn’t seem to fill me up, but I bet that’s because I’ve never mixed in any source of protein.
KathEats says
And doesn’t that mean leftys are smarter because we get to just pick up our fork and start eating! No reaching across or hand exchanges 🙂
Welcome!
Ashley @ Feeding Ashley says
That video was hilarious. Your lunch looks delicious!!
Morgan @ moments of mmm says
Looks delicious! I love the “what’s wrong with this picture” game… Never woulda guessed the placement of you fork… too funny!
kristinp says
I know this may be a bit random, but my best friend and her husband own a coffee shop/cafe/bar that stocks all local foods and beverages including locally sourced milk etc. She doesn’t live in your neck of the woods, but she may be able to give you some pointers on getting everything lined up. She’s pretty on top of things and they have been super successful for the past 6 years. I can get you in contact with her if you like.
Good luck!
KathEats says
Thanks for the offer Kristin. Do they do sandwiches? That’s our big hurdle.
Marisa @ Loser for Life says
You’re crazy – cold pizza is GREAT!!! Biking in the rain is NOT! LOL!
Have a good night, Kath!
staceyhealthylife says
Lifting weights is soooo good for you. So enjoy all that muscle toning/building.
Cindy says
Sounds like you had a busy morning!
Melissa says
No one gives me food envy like you do, Kath! 😀
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Yum to that lunch!! I had a huge salad with my dinner – love those greeens!!
Kathleen @ KatsHealthCorner says
How did the Nutritional Yeast taste on your salad. I’ve heard it has a cheesey type of flavor. 🙂
KathEats says
Nice and a bit cheesy 🙂
Courtney Leigh says
Thought of you during lunch today. I had a triple nut butter burger from one of our super awesome food trucks. A local beef patty on artisan bread, topped with peanut, almond, pistashio nut butter and cocoa dusted bacon. It sounds insane (and maybe a little gross) but it was SOOOO good. I believe I shall be recreating it at home. Soon.
Jessica says
Awww I’m from Nova, and I’d TOTALLY be down to meet up.
Too bad I am in law school in West Virginia 🙁
tiffany says
are you going to share the recipe to those amazing looking cookies?
KathEats says
Nope! Even I don’t know it – it’s a secret recipe.
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Aw, good luck with getting local food! I wish it weren’t so hard :/
Lauren says
Hi Kath! I am a 15 year old girl who lives in Arlington, VA. You probably don’t want to have dinner with a 15 year old and her family but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to mention it 🙂 -Lauren
Annie says
Have you contacted the local food hub? they sell local produce from the cville area. a source for organic non local is cavalier.
KathEats says
Yep – that’s who I called
