Hi friends!
Look at this little sunflower that Mazen grew from seed! He planted it during his Zoom survival skills camp back in June and it’s just now blooming. #latebloomer

Cool For Skool
How are you guys doing with your childrens’ education these past few weeks? Whatever path you chose, I am sure there are challenges.
I can say that being on Zoom with a teacher most of the morning is SO SO SO much better than the offline school at home we did in the spring. Mazen needs someone other than me in charge and he’s great! I am liking that he doesn’t have to be up and dressed for the bus at 7am, which gives us all more time in the mornings.

Birthday Rewind
Mazen got to have one friend sleepover for his birthday this year since we couldn’t have a pack of his buddies together for a party. These two guys had a blast building a fort, playing Legos, battling with Star Wars blasters, playing video games (I let them play till 9pm and then they actually went to sleep!)
Let Them Eat Cake
We got this “Ultimate Vanilla Cake” from Wegmans and it was delish! I added all of the sprinkles.
Sheet Pan Pancakes for breakfast
Get the recipe here: Whole Wheat Sheet Pan Pancakes.
Look at Birch – so pleased to be one of the big boys!
Meals Lately
Here’s a Birch meal I captured! He loves freeze dried foods.
Family Taco Night
The usual once-a-week celebration!
My plate
Two tacos, naturally 😉
Thomas’s Tacos
T-Daddy takes 3x as long to build them as he does to eat them!
Happy Little Yogurt Bowl
Plain yogurt, banana, jam, and Cinnamon Cheerios, a gift in the mail from General Mills. (I really hope Pumpkin Spice Cheerios arrive soon!!)
Quiche From Plenty
And a simple side salad made by me.
Sunday Breakfast
Thomas often makes us omelets on Sundays! With fresh summer peach and grapes.
Pulled Pork Two Ways
Any time we make a home-cooked meal I’m trying to stretch it two nights.
Here is crockpot pulled pork and homemade grits x2. The first night we had caprese tomatoes…
…and the second night we had bell peppers because that was the only veggie left in the fridge!
Grilled Chicken
Early Mountain Vineyards sent us their Seasoned Herb Salt as part of their grill pack, and it’s our favorite on top of chicken!
Served with rice and lemony beans.
Cold Peanut Noodles
I made these noodles with tofu and peppers and ate them for days!
See exhibit B – same noodles, this time with shrimp!
Friday Fun Night
Since we aren’t going out to dinner too much these days, we celebrate with one night of take out (or a date, if we do get to go out) on the weekend. Sushi night was a big hit!

What do you put in your taco meat – looks tasty

We used the Wahoo! Taco Seasoning from Tastefully Simple this time – a new purchase – it was great. We have used random taco seasonings in the past.

Our local groceries had a nice display of all the Pumpkin Spice cereals mid-to-late August but those went fast and they haven’t got any more to replace those. Hoping that’s not another 2020 shortage problem…
Kath Younger says
Haha – well that shows you there is definitely an Autumn-loving audience in August

I’ve found pumpkin spice cheerios to order online in the UK that work out at nearly $13 for a 306g box. Just how good are they lol?!
Kath Younger says

Your meals always look delish, Kath! I had a terrible time menu planning + grocery shopping last weekend because I’m so ready for fall-inspired meals, but it’s not quite time yet. I’m so ready for chili! 🙂
