O.M.G.
I burst out laughing when I saw the silhouettes of three bear heads from the driveway.
So 3,000 miles ago…..
Alicia met me for a run! We went down Market St. and by all of the Piers. (Mom, I heard the seals for you). It was a great run and I was so glad to be outside in the beautiful sunshine. By the end though I started to feel kinda sick. My body was not primed for hard exercise! We ran about 4.5 miles before we went back to shower and get ready for breakfast.
Thanks for the fun run Alicia!
Breakfast was sooo convenient – this awesome cafe was right downstairs!
Girls minus Amber (who got stuck on public transport) –
I couldn’t resist!!!
Especially after getting an eye of this topping bar – complete with house-made granola!
You know this came out!
This was a huuuuge bowl of steel cut oats. I couldn’t even finish it all! I loaded on the raisins, chopped almonds, granola and Barney Butter.
What really put me over-the-top full was this fabulouso London Fog, a recommendation by Jenna – Earl Grey Tea with Steamed Milk. It was totally awesome and I will be getting more!!!
Our group!
From now on I am only doing blog meet-ups at cafes for breakfast. They always work out so well! I had a wonderful time talking to these guys 🙂
Maggie was sweet and brought us all homemade tea bags!
After breakfast we checked out of the hotel and awesome Krista and Kristen offered to take me to the airport. We had a chatty trip over – thanks again guys!!
Once there I plopped down and got some work done. I got SO MUCH done on this trip during my flights. I loved the excuse to be stapled to a chair with my laptop. Wheee!
I knew I wanted soup for lunch. Just what I was craving. None of the flavors they had seemed that appealing – chili, mexican, lentil, cabbage – but he let me taste the cabbage and WOW was it good!! There was beef, cabbage, big carrots and I’m pretty sure green grapes. It was really great soup! I took it on the plane and ate it about 30 minutes later – still hot enough!
+ Sourdough
Today’s flight felt longer than last weeks – probably because I didn’t nap for an hour of it. I read the Time Traveler’s Wife for a while (I’m finally getting into it – I thought it was a really slow start) then snoozed then worked for about 2.5 hours then read some more.
MOM: "Oh Beautiful For Spacious Skies!!" – Pike’s Peak just for you! Our pilot called it out!
A couple hours later I had a BethT honeycrisp and a Clif Bar
My flight got in at 9PM – I TIME TRAVELED 3 HOURS!!!
Matt was there to pick me up! [For the record Harry, who met Sally, he always picks me up :)]
Came home and nibbled on some BethT nuts
Got excited over my newly replaced Eye-Fi card. Let’s hope it works this time!
And made a quick simple dinner –
Microwaved sweet potato fries (3 minutes on high with cooking spray and cinnamon and kosher salt)
Carrot + celery + hazelnut butter
And some Oikos with Erewhon Raisin Bran + Jam. Probably didn’t need this part because I wasn’t really that hungry, but it tasted good!
Ended with a Scharffen Berger Chocolate. I have POUNDS of their chocolate that I brought home from the conference and it’s awesome dark 60-82% cacao! My favorite!
I can’t believe it’s after 11PM here. Going to bed now!
But not until I say one last major thank you to Nasoya and the Mushroom Channel for the bash of a weekend. It felt like a week-long trip and I can’t believe I have class tomorrow!! It’s going to be a busy week, but nothing too stressful.
Nite!
P.S. The gray dress is from H&M in Boston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Linda says
It was lovely meeting you. Time flew by so quickly at breakfast – wished you were able to stick around a tad longer.
I have a question about your camera. Do you know why the tones in the outdoors group shot is so washed out? The camera captured the warmth and depth of the cafe’s lighting very well – those are such beautiful shots.
You have a great camera. Thanks for letting me take a few shots with it.
Pam (Highway to Health) says
The bears are too cute!!! I would die if I saw those!
Red Head, Yellow Dog says
Harry said that you can tell it’s a new relationship when one is still taking the other to the airport ! People don’t get those romantic scenes by the gates anymore due to all the security. bummer!
sandyb says
Kath, your photos are beautiful.. for real.
Kath says
Linda,
A different lens, different aperture, different lighting?
Red Head, Yellow Dog,
But we’re a 10 year relationship so we’re the exception, right!?

Rachel says
Hi Kath!
I had to write and say hi, because I live in San Jose, CA and was running a long training run in San Francisco on Sunday… and I saw you running down the Embarcadero (I was running in the opposite direction) From your blog, I knew you were in SF for the festival and recognized you right away – I had to laugh because it was such a coincidence. I didn’t want to interrupt either of our runs by saying hi and introducing myself, so thought I’d do it now.
Anyhow, I really enjoy reading your blog and hope you had a good time in SF. If you are ever back in town and have more time, I’d love to meet up for coffee or maybe a run 🙂
Kath says
Rachel,
Hilarious!! You TOTALLY should have stopped me. How cool would that have been!? I am likely coming back in November for the Foodbuzz Festival, so maybe I’ll see you then.
Kath
