Matt made it safely to Napa. He is feeling better and wanted me to show you all his veggie sandwich that he managed to eat when he arrived. I’ll be featuring some more of his trip throughout the week 🙂
I set out on my adventure this afternoon and did bad, bad things. Like spend $100 on new workout clothes at Target. I went in for one thing and came out with 2 cute pairs of fitted workout pants (one cropped, one long – if you’re petite these rock!) and two new yoga tops (mine were all a bit to cleavage-y!). In my defense, I really did NEED these!
I also went to Fresh Market and found SPRING BLEND! I got a Caf and a Decaf.
Yesterday when I was kicked out of the house I piled my things into this new tote I was sent: EnviTote. It’s a reusable box! With a very convenient shoulder strap. And it’s washable. When you don’t want things (like bread) to get smooshed, sometimes a reusable bag just won’t cut it. This guy was SO convenient!! I added it to my Open Sky store immediately!
Just when I was heading back home I got a message from Kelsey asking me to meet her for a drink. Good timing!!
I was just going to order water….until I looked at the wine list and remembered that my husband was in wine country without me. So I got a 2 oz "taste" portion of a delightful moscato!
And was starving so I broke into a purse-stash of pistachios!
Still starving when I got home (10 miler eh?) so I snacked on a few more almonds as I packed my lunch and prepped dinner.
Karen is back from New Zealand! She came over to join me for dinner and will be spending a few nights (keeping me safe!) while Matt’s gone.
I made us a nice American dinner of omelets with Organic Valley cheese, North Carolina kale and Montana wheat Great Harvest bread.
More Eggland’s Best from the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program!
Seriously, this Organic Valley cheese has so much flavor.
Chef’s mocktail
Sometimes butter is just necessary.
Our omelets had shrooms, pimentos and shredded mild cheddar + pepperjack cheese
Kale was lightly dressed in a drizzle of olive oil and lemon juice
Toast was toast in 5 minutes flat
Karen brought me back some beautiful gloves made from possum and sheep’s wool. Love that they say "Lothlorian" like LOTR and are a nice Elven green!

omg thank you for linking to that blog post about poop and running – it was hilarious and, frankly, so important!! every athlete deals with this issue and people do not talk about it enough. it’s like they say: everybody poops!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
I love a good omelet for dinner. Sometimes you just need a breakfast dinner.
Kath says
Funny because omelets are always dinner for me! I don’t really like eggs for breakfast 🙂
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
Dito. I can’t do savory in the a.m.
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
I wanna get one of those totes also, I think that would work really well.

Cute clothes! 🙂 I’m glad Matt is feeling better. Travel + sick = bad all around.
Katherine says

Great new workout clothes – jealous, we don’t have a Target here. Enjoy!
Trishelle says
Love the new workout tops and bottoms!! You’re right – sometimes you just need to restock the exercise clothes! 😉
Have fun the next few nights as girls’ nights. Those are the best when hubbies are out of town!
Holly S. says
I totally just “loled” at the end of your post–so random to see “ever pooped during a run?” at the bottom!
The workout gear looks super cute–I’m going to check out the cropped pants because most end up being too long on me! Do they hit right below the knee or midcalf?
Kath says
I got one of each!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
The Last Song is SO good! I can’t usually get into his books (so sue me) but that one.. loved it.
Your dinner sounds yummy!! Simple is sometimes awesome.
Target workout clothes are THE bomb.
Emilie says
I laughed out loud at your abrupt transition from gloves to poop. Love all your new target stuff; i don’t think I’ve ever walked out of target without something I didn’t know I needed.
Lisa says
… possum-fur gloves? Eeeek! I can’t stand possums – I had no idea someone would actually shear them for their hair … you can’t even call it fur! Are they comfortable?
Jill says
I find it very easy to drop $$ at target. Since I’m new to the US it was a brand new shopping experience. They have everything, love it.
Wendy says
Those pants also rock if you’re TALL. I own 3 pairs! I just wish they made tops in talls, too. Hello, long arms and torso.
And the last question? YES. I have multiple stories, but will spare you the details. 🙂
Megan says
I love the new workout clothes. I do agree with the last person to comment… it’s way way way too easy to drop a lot of money at target. Their stuff is just so cute!
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
If I was rich, I think I’d spend all my money on exercise clothes…well, maybe not all, but A LOT! I live in them, so they’ve gotta be cute ; )
rustique says
No lies, omelettes are perhaps my favorite dinner. Eggs are just the greatest any day and any way.
Ida says

Okay, you workout almost every day. You deserve to spend $$ on workout clothes. You will make use of it that’s for sure.

Ladies night! You party it up right with that Nicolas Sparks action. I wonder if you blog that, for Matt’s sake, and then head out and it the town, a bag of almonds, glass of moscato and a stick of butter in tow!
Someone’s sleep deprived, sorry.
Kath says
🙂
Mama Pea says
*hit* the town. Proofread much?

i’m always wayyyy hungrier the day after a long run (9+ miles) than the day i finished it. and i can literally never go to target and come away with just what i went for. their workout clothes are pretty great. 🙂
christie @ honoring health says
Cute work out gear!
We had omelets for dinner last night, too. I much prefer eggs for dinner than for breakfast!
Teri [a foodie stays fit] says
That tote is awesome!
I need some cropped workout pants…looks like I’ll be hitting up Target soon! 🙂
I’m headed to Charlotte with some friends for the AFI concert in a couple weeks. Any restaurant suggestions? [Something not too expensive]
Kath says
Real Food Charlotte. Crisp. Big Daddy’s. EarthFare salad bar!
Heather says
Oh I just purchased the Last Song too! I plan on holding onto it for two weeks to read during a cruise! 🙂

I adore how satisfying and simple an omelette dinner can be.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Long runs leave me *starving.*
Your workout clothes are adorable *and* a necessity! 😀
retrokali says
HAHAHA! That post on pooping was hilarous. I am not a runner ( I am a bellydancer), but that feeling of having to go when you can’t is horrible. funny funny funny.
and nuthin’ wrong with a little retail therapy, especially since your hubby is out of town having fun…you should have some fun, too!
Jonna says
Hi Kath,
Just finished The Last Song! Read it in 2 days. It’s another great
Nicholas Sparks book.
Have a good one!
Bonnie says
Pistachios and moscato yum!
I love Target’s workout clothes. Why doesn’t walmart sell anything even close?
JENNA says
fun! buying new work out clothes is the best. I bought some cropped pants from target that were realatively cheap and they held up so well. That is until my daughter decided it was a good idea to put stickers in the washing machine and the melted on to my pants! :-/ I’ve been meaning to go get some more!
Amanda@lessonsinmoderation says
Good tip on the workout pants for shorties! I have been looking for some. What material are they? I really prefer the moisture wicking fabric like the Nike Dri-fit pants, because a regularly cotton/poly blend shows all the sweat but I only have them in capris and my ankles get cold in the winter !!! 🙂
Kath says
They are cotton 🙁
Michelle says
I just finished the Last Song and loved it! I think it is one of my all time favorite books now and can’t wait to see the movie. Although I’m not sure how much I’ll like it since I don’t care for Miley Cyrus.
Heather says
love target pants! I actually recently did a review of them on my blog! I ahve the opposite problem, I am really tall and the regulars are too short!
Heather @ Side of Sneakers says
You wouldn’t believe how many times I go into Target for something innocent and come out with workout clothes–they just fit so well and don’t cost an arm and a leg!! I JUST said the other day, I sure wish Spring Blend would come out already…YAY!! To Fresh Market I go…
Jenn @ Livewellfit says
Target = the $100 store. I never walk out of there spending less, even if I try so so so hard! 🙂
Joanne says
Love the gloves. Just your style. 🙂
Bethany says
Love the new workout togs! Target is a great option for workout clothes (are those the Champion line?) — think about how much you could have spent elsewhere…so really, you SAVED yourself money, right? 🙂 That’s how I justify it.
Kristilyn (My 29th Year) says
I’m so bad at spending too much when I only go out for a few things. Those tops are lovely though – a necessity indeed!
Thanks for that poop article … LOL! It is something that runners have to think about! I run on my treadmill at home, so it’s not a huge issue, but now that the weather is getting nicer, I know I’ll be outside for double digit runs in no time. It’s already something I’m thinking about!
K
kate says
i just bought some new workout clothes on saturday, too. cute new clothes are always a motivation!
Casey says
I love Target’s workout clothes!!! I’m doing WW right now, and they totally talk about the pooping/running thing on the message boards! Will def repost!!
