It is finally steamy hot here in Cville! After a few days in the 80s it’s quite the shock of heat. I’m eating lots of smoothies and yogurt for breakfast. See the above – smoothie with toast!
On Friday Grammie and Pea met us at Citizen Burger for lunch on their way through Cville. They are coming back today for a few days of visit! Mom and I split a burger, sweet potato fries and this big beet, goat cheese salad.
That was one of those lunches that fills you up for two meals! For dinner we went to Friday’s After Five and Matt and I shared a veggie pizza slice. Plus a gelato for dessert!
It was the perfect night!
Saturday breakfast – pancake, watermelon and a new Celestial Seasonings tea I can’t wait to tell you more about soon!
Saturday was chill – we made lots of forts and read books together
Lunch was leftover salad, fried egg and leftover roasted potatoes.
Saturday evening we hosted an impromptu party and ordered a bunch of pizzas to share. Not the healthiest evening but super fun!
Sunday was a family day, and we did lots of chores around the house and go organized for the week. For dinner I cooked two gourmet salmon burgers I bought at the farmer’s market – they were so good! Plus caprese salads – local tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil and EVOO.
Bertolli sent me their anniversary bottle of oil to test – this bottle might be a keeper!
Hope y’all are pumped for the week!!

Yummy weekend of eats! I love impromptu parties, so much fun! Can’t wait to hear more about that tea. I am on a tea hunt because I am slowly trying to give up the amount {not all of the coffee} of coffee in which I consume!
Jen says
Ooooo that chai tea is awesome! I visited a friend in CO and tried some at the Celestial Seasonings factory!

It went from feeling like fall to high summer finally! Not as hot as where you live, but still sticky humid. I can’t decide if I love it or want the rainy cool weather back haha. I’m surprised, with all the access to high quality bread you have and your taste for caprese salads, that you never make panzanella! I used to live off of it when I had access to day old bakery bread.

Salmon burgers sound like such an idea right now! We have the makings for turkey burgers but I may have to add Salmon burgers to next week’s menu!
Emily @ Life on Food says
I am all about pizza right now. Glad I am not the only one who has it more than once a week. Yum!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says

What a cute olive oil bottle! And what yummy eats!
Kate says
That weekend was a good one if only for the food!
Sarah says
How do you cook your fried eggs? The yolk is so yellow and shiny it almost looks raw!
KathEats says
Butter in a nonstick pan and medium heat. They are farmer’s market eggs so the yolk has a lot of color!
Heather says
Is that land of nob quilt the baby or full sized one? I am thinking about getting a quilt from them, but I am debating the size. Do you have a recommendation?
KathEats says
It’s the twin bed one.
Anjar Visla says
Hi Kath great photos! Can you tell me about the oil, I can’t tell if you liked it or if not because you said “might be a keepr”???
Also you eat a lot of pizza! so good.
KathEats says
I mean the bottle might be a keeper after the oil is all gone – it’s so pretty! A collectible someday.
Mary Jane says
I was wondering how you cook your eggs – I love an egg with a crispy underside and a runny yolk! That seems like such a great topping for a salad!
KathEats says
I just put them in a nonstick pan with some butter on medium heat and let ’em go!
Amanda says
Yummm a caprese salad sounds so good!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Been ages since I made salmon burgers, definitely on the agenda this week!
Dani @ DaniCaliforniaCooks says
I’ve been all about the smoothies too recently! Something about them screams summer to me, even if it’s cold here in San Francisco!
Kaila @healthyhelperblog! says
I’ve been ALL ABOUT caprese this summer! I love making open faced caprese sandwiches!
Alex @ get big, go to work says
Love that beet salad from Citizen! My husband keeps talking about how much he wants to go back there this weekend. I want to go to the city market. Any recommendations? Do we need to get there before a certain time to really experience the Market?
KathEats says
It’s definitely more crowded mid-morning, so if you want to really shop go earlier!
Emily says
Pizza….! I <3 all the pizza.
Elyse says
Good food, family and fun! What a perfect weekend!
Hannah @ eat, drink and save money says
I can’t wait to hear more about the tea.
Good luck staying cool. It’s been rough down here in South Florida too. It’s almost too hot to eat! Thank goodness for smoothies. Yours looks great!

We are feeling the heat (and humidity) here in DC too! I just moved here from Boston and it has been quite the change in weather!
Jennifer says
What is in that citizen salad and how was it dressed?!
KathEats says
Beets, spinach, candied walnuts, blueberries, apples and a dressing. SO GOOD!
Elyse says
Love seeing the Cuppow make an appearance! It was invented right around the corner from where I live.
