How was your weekend? I love to imagine you guys all over the country doing different things in your respective communities with all different kinds of weather and dynamics. Single gals partying in NYC to moms in Texas heading to the farmer’s market to West Coasters going on sunny hikes. Here are some scenes from our weekend!
Friday chia pudding for breakfast – mixed with some yogurt, banana, granola and sunflower butter.
I have been LOVING yoga lately and went to a hot power class at Hot Yoga Cville. I want to write a whole yoga update post soon, but I have fallen in love with this studio after discovering that they have way more than just Bikram. Friday’s 60-minute class was hot (as they all are here) and had some really awesome music – kind of movie soundtrackish!
Our sitter was able to come a bit early on Friday, so that’s why I was able to go to yoga and have this amazing salad at Tea Bazaar! The candied nuts are the best part…or maybe the herbed toasted pita!
Friday afternoon Matt, Mazen and I headed to the country to Pippin Hill for a little wine and conversation. Puzzles and pretzels for the win!!
We enjoyed the Petit Verdot – so good!
We went to an early dinner at Kardinal Hall – my first time to the huge new restaurant beer hall and garden opened by the Beer Run folks. They did everything right here – there is TONS of seating, games, a good food menu and of course lots of beer options. Can’t wait for spring weather!
I had a really awesome kale salad with really interesting and flavorful mushrooms on top. Plus some pretzel and french fries! And a beer of course!
We spent the rest of Friday night on the couch relaxing.
Saturday Matt had to work, and the weather was bad – I don’t think I left the house all day! I did a home workout in the basement with One Direction blasting, doing plyo moves and dancing around with Mazen. We have that little trampoline which makes an excellent home gym asset!
Saturday leftovers for lunch – spinach lasagna and fish sticks, both from Gathered Table (post in the works with them!)
Saturday evening we had some friends over for dinner.
I made one of the Frontier Soup mixes we sell at the bakery – a sweet potato and white bean chili, plus a big kale salad.
We had a great time laughing into the night and stayed up way too late watching Moulin Rouge and music videos on You Tube!
Sarah (+ Sylvia and Sawyer) and Lauren spent the night, so we had a fun time having a big party at breakfast. Matt brought home a bunch of scuffins and muffins from the bakery, and I had half a blueberry muffin with almond butter and raspberries – plus a fried egg a little later.
Sunday at noon I went back to Hot Yoga Cville for a 90 minute Power Vinyasa class. I think I was starting to prune by the end – definitely got my yoga glow on!
Happy Monday to you guys!!

It’s funny how much fun a night out or a night in can be, it’s all about the people you spend it with! Your breakfast chia pudding looks amaze, I’m working on really having some bigger better breakfast this week! Chia pudding is definitely on my radar!

Oh man, super jealous of the yoga! I love hot yoga but haven’t done it in over a year! It’s not in the finances right now for me to go to a studio so I’ve just been trying to do it at home and I just haven’t been successful at it getting the habit going, but man, I miss that post yoga glow!

So funny to read this! We’re about at the same stage in life, and I can’t imagine having a sleepover with friends/kids. It would be so much trouble to make sure I bring all the right stuff for my kids, and then for sure they would sleep terrible.
I can’t remember the last sleepover I had!!

It went surprisingly well!!

Looks like a weekend with such yummy eats! I am also a hot yoga lover. I wish I had more opportunities around here to take classes. I usually take classes when traveling. It is fun to take classes in new places!

Hi kath! I’m a work at home mom with an almost toddler 🙂 I know you mentioned having a sitter…how do you use your sitter on a weekly basis? I have been thinking of hiring someone as I am having a hard time finding a balance 🙁

I live in Iowa where it was -5 to -10 actual temperature all weekend with wind chills making it -20 to -30 below. So! The most we did was get groceries, go to church and let dogs in and out, in and out (in and out, in and out…).
Today’s in the 20s with SUN! 🙂

Oh man so cold!! I’ve never been in temps like that

Hey KateEats, This is an awesome article. I have tried many of the foods you have share in the images. They are really delicious and mouth watering. Oh, I would love to eat them again.
Thank you for making me recall all the memories of the foods.
Great to have this article.

Hey, a Macbook. For some reason I feel like I read a post (years ago) about you switching to Apple, and then going back to your HP because it was more conducive to blogging. What made you try Apple again? (Besides the obvious correlation between Apples and Real Food 🙂 ) Just curious. I do love my Macbook… 🙂 On another note, being from Ontario, Canada, I never get to try Great Harvest. I was so excited when I saw one in Florida (over the holidays) that I could go to. My hubby kindly brought me and the kids to go check it out and….it was permanently closed…..I was soooo bummed. Everything was just sitting inside … taunting me with its empty shelves….
Oh well….some day…

I’m back with the real food Apples!! I had an iphone in 2010 and worked on a Mac in 2007 and didn’t love it, but I gave it another try and am a convert : ) LOVE my MB Air!!! SO sorry about the Great Harvest! That stinks
