Hiiii!! Long time no see. We sure lived up this weekend! Matt was gone on a guys trip, so Mazen and I spent a lot of time with the Struckmanns. We spent Friday night over there and got in plenty of pool time! (No photos of the pool because you know how pools and technology mix…)
Friday night I brought over lots of salad greens and Sarah, John and I made salads with cod on top.
Later that evening once the kiddos were sound asleep, Sarah and I went to an 80s cover band concert – The Legwarmers! We went in full costume. I decided on aerobics style for comfort of sweating and dancing.
We met up with Lynsie, who always pulls off the 80s look well. Note my fanny pack – it’s actually a spi belt but it was the perfect accessory for holding my phone and cards all night!!
And then we ran into these crazies and their wigs! Man I am short..
The concert was amaaaaaazing!!!!! “Come On Eileen” was the highlight of my night : )
On Saturday I watched the Sayas while the Struckmanns had to run some family errands.
They played and played and snacked and played.
That afternoon I took them back to Sarah’s and we went swimming and ate quesadillas stuffed with turkey, zucchini and cheese for dinner.
Saturday night I watched this movie. So great!
Here’s my Sunday morning raspberry smoothie! It was so thick with frozen fruit that Mazen called it ice cream.
I went to the gym and ran a fast 3 miles on the treadmill before getting in a little rooftop time.
We walked there and back too – so I covered about 5 miles total. Sidebar: Mazen is obsessed with Oprah’s What I Know For Sure. No idea why, but he carries it around and “read” it the whole walk home!
Next up was the grocery store where we also had lunch. Kale salad / fish / beans / macaroni.
Sunday afternoon we hung out around the house and did our weekend chores. And then we ended the weekend with a joint cookout with our neighbors. Dave made homemade veggie burgers with black beans and lots of greens and a noodle and pea salad.
Mazen and I made a big batch of yogamole to share.
Hope you all had great weekends as well! There is so much to pack into summertime. We will be so excited to have Daddy back in town!

What little cuties!! And what a fun concert!
Courtney says
I thought that was my trick…call it “breakfast ice cream” and they’re all over it.

I loovveeeeeeeee The Legs! I’ve seen them around 6 times, they never disappoint! Random: looks like they have a different woman vocalist with them. Their usual one must have just had her baby. When I saw them a couple of months ago, she looked around 7-8 months along, but didn’t act like it at all!
KathEats says
That’s what I hear! This new girl was totally awesome though! Loved her Like A Prayer. Can’t wait to see them again!
Randi says
Every single time you post I think: you have the best gym ever! I’m super jealous and wish there was something like that near me (Seattle/Tacoma area).

I agree – love that rooftop pool!

Paper plates all the way! We’re having a family BBQ on Saturday evening for my aunt’s 50th, definitely saving on cleaning up with that idea 🙂 Yellow runners are AWESOME!

Love the pad on your changing table! So cute. Does Mazen still let you change him there? My little one is far too wiggly these days 🙂
KathEats says
We do a lot of them on the pad on the floor or bed 🙂
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
YUM that quesadilla!! Sounds like you had an awesome weekend! 🙂
Dani @ DaniCaliforniaCooks says
Haha – what a trick to get kids to eat their fruits and vegetables. Call it “ice cream”!
Cilla says
Kath, what do you think about the book? i haven`t read it, but heard different opinions about it.
KathEats says
Which book? I’m confused!
Jen says
The Oprah book M has 😛
Cilla says
Oprah`s. I thought that Mazen probably “reads” it, because you read it. 🙂
KathEats says
Yes! Sorry I thought you might mean the movie! Actually I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet – he won’t let me take it out of his room!
Kay says
OK, now I’m confused & feel like I missed something…what movie? I just re-read your post & didn’t see a movie mentioned…did I miss it?
KathEats says
Crazy Stupid Love!

Looking at that pic of you and your girls, all I can hear is “Let’s get physical, physical!” in my head!
Linda @ TheFitty says
Girl, I FEEL you on being short! What’s your height?
Amanda says
Kath, that 80s headband looks so so so pretty on you!!! LOL Sorry if that’s a weird thing to say!
KathEats says
Haha thanks! It’s actually Soccer pre-wrap! Comes in a million colors. It’s the best sports headband I’ve found!
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola says
The pictures of Mazen playing with his friend are so sweet 🙂
polly says
so cute! Love the 80’s since I graduated in 1990 that was my music! haha
and you are adorable! How tall are you, girl? I am about 5’8″. I am the shorty in my family, as my hubby is 6 foot 5, my dad is 6 foot 6, and my brother is 6 foot 7!! eek! We go to Disney World and have no trouble finding them in a crowd. ; )
happy week friend! Mazen is cute as ever!

Emily says
Y’all look festive. That smoothie looks like the kind of smoothie I like. Thick and icecream-ish. 🙂
Amy says
Your cookout looks delicious! I noticed your soda cans often have a dent in them – just wondering if there is some secret reason behind this?
KathEats says
It’s actually something I picked up from Matt! He always indents his cans and turns the tab to the side. I guess it makes them easier to hold!? Just a habit!
Linda @ TheFitty says
Love the table, Kath.
Erin Shmidt says
I love Mazen’s room! We are doing the navy and red look! Where did you get the rug from? 🙂
KathEats says
Land of Nod!
