^^Sweetness!!
How was your weekend? Mine went by so fast that I forgot to write this post on Sunday night so I’m squeezing this post in before getting started on our day!
Friday night was low key. Matt went out with friends and I watched 2 episodes of Nashville and 2 episodes of Blood & Oil on the couch. It was lovely! Drank lots of hot tea.
I had this sweet potato and turkey chili for dinner – a Cook Smarts crock pot recipe!
Saturday morning Mazen and I had smoothies! Blueberry – spinach – banana – oats – milk – yogurt.
And then we went to Pen Park to play a little soccer together! M enjoyed the snack break more than the soccer itself.
We also found this guy lurking on my backpack!
Saturday lunch was leftovers from Roots plus leftover salmon on top
I went out late in the afternoon to write some posts at Capital Teas, my new favorite spot. Their Roasted Almond Rooibos tea is incredible as a latte!!!
On my way home I picked up dinner at Whole Foods for the family – loving the sweet potato casserole they have on the hot bar right now!
We went to a renovation party on Saturday night for some friends and I ate too much cheese and sang lots of 1D songs : )
Sunday morning pancakes! Mazen’s favorite.
I had two soccer games on Sunday for my last of the fall season. I sprained my right ankle again and nearly broke my left one. Also got a ball to the face! It wasn’t an easy day. I had a lot of shots on goal, including a header that alllllmost went in. We lost one and won one – it was a fun day overall.
Matt surprised me with some hot bar food at the game in between them – much appreciated!
Karen is here visiting and we had pizzas for dinner on Sunday night, plus a yummy cheese plate for cocktail hour.
We started the day with eggs, grapes, raspberries and toast! Plus hot coffee -it’s below freezing here already!
This clip had me in stitches this morning! Love Adele!
xoxo

The greenish-colored sweater/sweatshirt you’re wearing looks so pretty from what I can see! I really love the neckline, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get it from?
KathEats says
It’s StitchFix!! The best : )
Savannah Thaler says
I was going to comment on that sweater, too! It’s gorgeous!
Poly says
Agreed! I’m glad someone already asked 😀
Sagan says
The worst part about coming to your blog is that it always makes me hungry for very specific foods 🙂 I need a smoothie & a plate of salmon NOW!
Off to make a smoothie for breakfast and talk to Mr. Science about dinner plans… 😉
Mess Hall Momma says
What kind of crackers are on your cheese plate?
KathEats says
Rosemary crackers from Whole Foods
Heidi Kokborg says
Looks and sounds like the perfect weekend 🙂
Katie says
I love those earrings! Where did you get them?
KathEats says
They are from Amy at the cville farmers market but you can find them here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/girlsdayout
Katie says
Thanks for the reply. I am going to check it out.
Kori says
The photo of you showing off your earrings is gorgeous!! Great looking eats, but ouch that game sounds like it was a killer! A coworker just told me about the show Blood and Oil. Do you really like it? I thought about Matt and I starting to watch it. Have a great day!
Alice (Full-time Foodist) says
Did Mazen say that there is a Vember? I love that story…so freaking cute.
KathEats says
Yeah!!
Tonya says
oh my gah!! too cute!!
Stacey says
I love Blood and Oil (and Nashville!) but read online it’s likely to end and not be renewed 🙁

KathEats says
Aw darn. I’m not surprised. Also heard that Wicked City (which I haven’t seen but Chuck Bass!) was cancelled after just 3 episodes
Stacey says
I did watch that too (because I loved Parenthood), but wasn’t sure I was going to continue. It was quite gruesome and felt more like it should be on cable.
Hillary | Nutrition Nut on the Run says
Where are you pretty earrings and teal sweatshirt from?
KathEats says
Earrings are from our local Girls Day Out https://www.etsy.com/shop/girlsdayout
Sweatshirt is Stitch Fix!
Kate says
I honestly think I’d be content with that cheese plate for my Thanksgiving dinner.
KathEats says
🙂 Me too!
Lindsey @ Simply Lindsey says
Love your earrings and the color of your sweater/sweatshirt!
Jenn says
Woah, when did you switch to a Macbook? I thought you were all PCs all the time?
KathEats says
I no longer use Windows Live Writer to blog (which was a huge selling point for Windows) and when my laptop started to get old I asked a handful of tech friends what the lightest weight, best battery machine was. Most of them said the MacBook Air, so that’s what I go. I LOVE it and the battery life and weight exceeded expecations! There are a few quirks that I miss from Windows, but consider myself a convert to Apple. I also switched to an iPhone when my contract was up – total convert. Although I still stand by how much I like Android and its Google integration and widgets : )
Christine says
That SNL skit is awesome!
Tonya says
“We also found this guy lurking on my backpack!”
Yikes! but of all the lurkers you could find at a park, I suppose he’s the most harmless! LOL
What’s a renovation party?
KathEats says
haha. Hope he wasn’t trying to steal my wallet!
Our friends just finished renoing their whole house so we got to see it all dressed up!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
What’s your go to pancake/fave recipe for Mazen? I WISH we had Wholefoods in Ireland!
KathEats says
We use the Great Harvest pancake mix 99% of the time : )
Katie @ Live Half Full says
I love those earrings you are wearing in that picture and I’m drooling over that cheese plate… what a good weekend!
Pam B says
Hiya Kath!!! Just wanted to throw out a warning not to let Mazen play with those bugs. I first saw them on a late-night newscast last night from Charlotte. They’re here in NC now too. They carry some type of parasite that can make you very sick—cold and flu-like symptoms that can develop into much more serious illnesses. Just wanted to give you a heads-up. Take care, blessed be, hugs!!!
KathEats says
Ew gross!! Thanks for letting us know.
Tonya says
Well dang! Guess my comment above was wroooong! lol
KathEats says
hahahah!!
Julie says
Cute Mazen story! I’m trying to write down all the cute things my 2.5 year old says, and at this point, there are several daily. Love this stage 🙂
Linda @ The Fitty says
The mac and cheese at whole foods is what I die for.
Diana says
Hi Kath! Coincidentally I just read your post after reading this article: http://www.wistv.com/story/30591372/cdc-deadly-kissing-bug-reported-in-ga-al?clienttype=generic
The bug in your picture looks a lot like the one in the article. Not to make you paranoid but figured I’d pass it along in case you see more.
KathEats says
I didn’t know this but it’s gross and scary!
Stepfanie says
I came here to say the same thing! OMG those kissing bugs are scary! They can cause Chagas. It didn’t bite you or touch you, did it?!
KathEats says
I touched it….but no bites. I’m a little freaked out about its feces but I think I’m probably fine after a little research.
