Our weekend started out pretty chill – a sleeping baby and a bottle of wine.
Along with a couple of salads made from leftovers
Then I watched the premier of Survivor in bed – yayyyyy for one of my favorite shows! (And booooo to the end of Downton for the year)
On Saturday I was up early getting ready to host a baby shower for one of my good friends!!
Over 25 people filled my house with joy!
And these cupcakes made by our friend Jessica were IN-credible!
After digesting that buttercream and Mazen’s naptime we took him down to the park to play for a bit.
Followed by a hair cut!!
This was our second attempt. Try #1 resulted in massive screaming and and lots of “all done! all done! all dones!” Luckily our try #2 (inside, which required a good vacuum) was much easier thanks to a banana and Curious George.
His hair looks SO much better now! Nice and neat.
So serious.
Saturday night we had our friend Elinor over for a date night with Mazen. She’s one of his closet friends, and he can say her name!
Toddler dishes! {They did not eat all those veggies…and they did eat lots more pizza!}
Alice, Al and Baby Walter came too!
We made two yummy pizzas and a salad
And Alice brought over some Chocolate Guinness Cake with extra ganache!! Omg…
On Sunday there was some of this…
And this…
And lots of this!!! Soccer is back in swing for the spring!!
And lots of laundry and weekly meal prep. And Karen came home from a cross country skiing trip in Montana. Fun weekend!

Baby showers are so fun! Love the nautical themed cupcakes as well! So creative with the sails!

Incredible! I forgot how busy it gets when there are things to do AND toddlers to take care of.
In a world without little kids (all grown up) and grandkids (they haven’t arrived), busy is shopping, a trip to the beauty salon for a cut, lunch without kids throwing food, watching a few movies, and maybe even taking a nap.

omg Mazen’s date is the cutest thing! And I LOVE those cupcakes – the sailboats with a few sharks and anchors is a really creative idea

Mazen’s haircut looks great! So cute. We’ve discovered that the iPad is an essential tool for Baguette’s haircuts, too.

Wine, friends, pizza, cake, and sports…sounds like the recipe for a perfect weekend! That photo of Mazen and Elinor eating together at the table is too precious, definitely something to keep and look back on when they’re older!

Cute haircut! I’ve always liked my boys’ hair short but now that they’re teens they fight me on it a bit. Luckily they go to a private school that requires hair “above then ear”. I win 😉

Looks like a beautiful spread for the shower! Do you have a go to Frittata recipe?
Mazen is so cute with his little friend…like they’re on a proper date! And oh my lord that cake looks sensational!

Firstly, those cupcakes from the shower are gorgeous! Secondly, kudos to you for trying to cut your son’s hair…I never would have even tried it! This my son’s experience at the hairdresser’s for the first time: http://www.bitesforbabies.com/blog/what-not-to-say-to-a-mom/

Haha cute!! I’m sure Mazen would have screamed in public too – he wasn’t shy about letting us know how much he hated it!

Shower looks like a lot of fun and yummy stuff. What is the stuff in the long pan? The casseroley loooking dish? Looks like asparagus or jalapenos in it?
KathEats says
A baked egg dish one of my friends made. It was good! Lots of peppers

The picture of Mazen and his date is SO CUTE.
Downton Abbey finale was really disappointing. They need to come back with a bang next season or people will give up! Such a snorefest this season.

Toddler date night– I’m in love!

Hi Kath!
Love this post. I can’t believe how freakin’ adorable Mazen is growing up to be. He seems to be so well mannered sitting at the table like a big boy!
Last month, I threw my cousin a bridal shower brunch for 30 people and we had about quadruple the amount of food! We had a few leftovers, but I’m curious, is that all you served for 25 people?
Love the cupcakes, so sweet.
