Before and after the shower we filled our weekend with lots of fun. Matt A’s family was visiting and my Matt’s dad and his wife came to visit as well!
On Friday night we planned an epic cookout
I prepped the fruit salad
And enjoyed a Cheerwine. My parents’ house is one of the few places I drink diet sodas guilt free. They have every flavor imaginable!
But an hour after these photos were taken, it stormed like crazy. We were forced to pretend it was Christmas dinner in the dining room instead
Burgers + salads + chips
Saturday was chilly but sunny
Egg, fruit, banana bread made by Candace!
Mimi and Papa came over for a morning with Mazen
After the shower, we all headed to Durham for drinks and Matt’s soccer game
Cheerios!
I enjoyed an arugula salad
The soccer game was great – Matt A. scored a PK and had an assist! Go Duke! [They won against UNC]
Mazen Duke liked his first sporting event
And snuggled in with Aunt Larbs when it got chilly
On Sunday we did more playing, ate a fantastic brunch
and drove back to Charlottesville to see daddy!

That looks like such a fun weekend! I love weekends filled with family (and good food).

I know how you feel eating your BBQ indoors, just come to the UK and the unpredictable weather will be a real treat haha.
Elise @ Expeditions of Elise says
Going home is the best feeling. I like that you don’t deprive yourself of diet soda 100 percent when you want one…that’s sort of my idea of eating: nothing is ever off-limits completely but some things need more moderation than others!
Anne Weber-Falk says
Your child is so beautiful. Love, love, love those juicy arms and thighs. Oh, and that fuzzy little head of his. So cute!
Lis says
I love your edgy little jacket that you have on at the game.
Where did you score that??
Looks like another fantastic weekend.

I think Loehmann’s
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
I’m dying of envy over the flowing trees!! We’re several weeks late on everything and I can’t wait until the shrubs and trees are in bloom. The smell is so fabulous – it’s one of my favorite times of the year.
Mazen certainly gets a lot of love. I so enjoy all the family shots. It’s clear he’s adored. What a cutie! 🙂
Marisa @ Uproot from Oregon says
I love making a big batch of fruit salad and having it for breakfast for a few mornings- so easy! That bread also reminds me that I need to make a batch of banana bread with my sad bananas soon 🙂 I’m glad you had such a great weekend!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Omg cheerwine!!!! I miss that so much! I used to get it every once in a while in college (I went to the College of Charleston) and anytime I visit NC or SC I keep an eye out for it!
Ashli @ The Sweat Revolution says

That final snapshot of your little guy on the bed is soooo precious, instantly changing my mood from sour (blame the lack of sun today in Chi-town) to cheerful…wheee:)
Have a good hump day, Kath!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl says
Mazen is getting so big! He’s as handsome as ever!
Jennifer says
I make the same exception for diet soda at my parents house too! Maybe because it reminds me of being a teenager – which was when I was a diet soda addict.
Hayley @ Running on Pumpkin says
Those burger buns look so good! I love seeded buns more than the typical plain ones.
sara @ fitcupcaker says
I love cookouts, we have had a few this year already! Fruit salad and pasta salads are the best at cookouts! Also, I now want brunch!
Nina @ Too Hottie For That Body says
It sounds like the perfect weekend. Mazen is getting so big! Have you written any baby food recipe posts yet. If so I would be seriously interested.
KathEats says
Not so much real recipes, but I have two baby food posts on BERF: Part I & Part II.
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health says
I’m pretty sure you can only get Cheerwine in a few (if not one) eastern states, that stuff is pretty rare! Looks like a fun weekend with family and Mazen just keeps getting cuter every day! He looks so much like you!

What a cute baby boy! He is adorable! You look like such a proud mom – with every right 🙂

Nothing better than spending a weekend with the Family. Our Daughter just had a new addition to her family last week. Things have been super exciting around here. It’s great to see that all things are going great your way as well.

I am always amazed at all the different types of ‘soda’ you have in the States…never heard of Cheerwine. What is it similar too? Too bad about the storm…bet the food still tasted great though! 🙂

Stop!! Mazen is just TOO cute!! Hehe…I’ve always enjoyed your blog, but it has gotten SO much brighter with Mazen .There is just something uplifting about happy babies:-D cc
Mary says
Are you concerned about the salt and sugar in Cheerios? Nestlé’s name brand cheerios has 190 mg of sodium per serving (if I remember correctly) Or is this a “Kleenex/tissue” type thing and sweet Mazen is having some healthy organic “oh” type cereal. I thought babies under the age of one shouldn’t have any sodium at all..
I am probably driving you crazy with my label reading LOL, but it is the on’y way I can keep my family eating clean with as little processed sugar as possible and helping my prone to high BP husband keep to his healthier low salt diet.
The red door is fab…
KathEats says
I’m not really that concerned. While I won’t be sprinkling salt on Mazen’s food any time soon nor would I feed him very high sodium foods like canned soup or soy sauce, I’m not worried about the smaller amounts of sodium in food, especially since the majority of his diet is based on whole foods that I have made myself.
