We are wrapping up a solid weekend! It was filled with downtime as we got lots of rain from Hurricane Matthew. I hope you are all safe on this Monday morning. I bought the above Halloween masks from Amazon for Mazen’s upcoming classroom Halloween party. For just $6, they were great deal!
On Friday night I spent the night at Sarah’s house, holding down the fort while she and John celebrated their anniversary. I love that Sarah, Lauren and I all have each other’s backs. Lauren came over to keep me company and help out with the kids. I was so thankful!
We cooked salmon and made this delicious Greek pesto kale salad for dinner. Lauren also threw together some sugar cookies from scratch for the kids to enjoy while watching Beauty and the Beast.
“Oh Mazen, what shall we play with next?!” (Both kids also ate some kale salad – we were very impressed!)
Miraculously, all three kiddos slept through the night. 6:45 was an a-okay wake-up time for me! I went to bed at 9pm just in case they were up all night.
For breakfast we had pumpkin pancakes and cantaloupe. Bless all of you who have three kids!!
Mazen and I headed home mid-morning. His soccer practice was cancelled for the second week in a row for rain 🙁
I had leftovers for lunch – shrimp and grits heated up with baby kale on the bottom.
We spent the afternoon snuggling, reading, and playing Batman in my room.
Late Saturday afternoon we went out to a friends’ house for a birthday party! There was a big fort and glow sticks for the kids, which they thought was so cool!
I brought this wine from the Wine club – it was fabulous! I pretty much love all red blends.
We had cheese and crackers, guac and chips, and Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie for dinner!
And a Princess cake from Albemarle Baking for the birthday girl:
On Sunday I had two soccer games – one at 9am and one at 2. We woke up to breezy, beautiful weather. The calm after the storm!
Breakfast was a big mug of coffee and almond butter banana toast –
Mid-day re-fuel. I was craving cheese and salt after playing all 90 minutes of game 1, so I had a little quesadilla, a slice of leftover pizza, and an apple.
My co-ed team won our early game 2-0 and my women’s league lost 7-1…yikes! But it was still a really fun day.
I was supposed to be on my way to Texas today to meet my little niece, but she decided she is just not quite ready to come out yet!! I postponed my flight to November. Can’t wait to meet her!

I’ve never thought to mash my banana on my toast like that! Congrats on your soccer games, win or lose I’m still impressed! I have about as much coordination with my feet as a 1 hour old baby giraffe.

Looks like a great weekend. Sometimes it’s nice to be cozy inside while it’s raining 🙂

Wow! What a snuggly weekend! I’m so glad you and your cutie are safe and sound and that you got to catch up on reading.. SO many people were put out of their houses (and worse!) this weekend because of Matthew. Didn’t you used to live in NC? We had to rescue my cousin from flooding down there this weekend. xo!

Yes, I have many Facebook friends from high school and college who were reporting live all weekend. It looked so scary! A tree fell on our family friend’s house in Hillsborough. Flashbacks to Hurricane Fran that flooded our town in 1996. Glad your cousin is safe!

Modern Romance is such a fun, interesting, and thoughtful book! I loved it the audio version and then followed up with the print version. Hope you enjoy it too.
