I don’t know about you moms out there, but 3:00 p.m. is a low time of the day for me. I always have zero energy! So the thought of going strawberry picking at 3:00 has crossed my mind day after day, but we just haven’t made the drive out yet. However, 5:00 p.m. was the perfect time to go! We went to Chiles when they were having an event, and the weather was perfect: cool and overcast. We had a blast with our friends!
We picked up dinner from Whole Foods during our weekly grocery shopping trip earlier that day: selections from the salad bar for me and pizza for M. Plus some wine they were offering by the glass along with Bold Rock Cider.
We loved listening to the live music!
M built this epic road with the blocks (although he corrected me later and said that it was a balance beam!).
And I bought THREE pairs of these great wooden sunnies!
On Saturday morning we had a light breakfast before heading to the gym for Bradley’s athletic conditioning class at 9:00 a.m.
It was a super class with a great mix of cardio and weights, and fantastic music mashups!!
Lunch was leftover cauliflower and a grilled cheese roll.
M and I spent the afternoon making sweet potato fries and forts on the couch.
I was able to read my book inside the fort for about 30 minutes! It was a great win-win 🙂
We also picked baby greens from the garden for dinner! Can you tell that I am SO EXCITED that this time of year has arrived!
We ate Saturday dinner at home and had panko-pesto salmon, garden salad, and sweet potato fries.
Sunday’s breakfast was eggs, mango and coffee.
And it was followed by lots and lots of soccer! We had so much fun despite being soaked by the rain. I scored two goals though, and we had one win and one loss. It was a tough day on the field!
Soccer lunch nibbles were almonds and a banana. I can’t believe this sustained me until dinner, but I honestly didn’t have much appetite.
However, when I eventually did make dinner (after a visit to the ACAC foam rollers and hot tub, loads of laundry, and an epic shower), I devoured this super-cheesy quesadilla and enjoyed a pumpkin beer alongside it!
I hope you guys had a good weekend. KNOCK ON WOOD, it looks like we finally might get some nice weather later this week!!

We went strawberry picking a few weeks ago too– so much fun. Although I do always think it’s ironic that we’re doing manual labor for a “fun” kid activity, heh. My great-great grandparents would probably have something to say about that. 😉

Haha!

I love strawberry picking, but haven’t been in ages! It looks like you had such a nice weekend! Every time I see your Whole Foods dishes, it makes me wish we had one! I lived near one before and it spoiled me!

That sounds like such a good weekend ! So jealous of fresh strawberries and soccer, those are two of my favorite things!

Yum! Everything looks delicious. I am definitely running out of steam at three every day, which normally leads to some serious munchies and poor dietary choices. Those strawberries look amazing!

Pumpkin beer? Leftover from last year or are they already out? I love them but it seems they come out earlier and earlier each year. Looks like a fun weekend!
KathEats says
Leftover! We still have a ton from the fall.
Angela says
Oh wow! I haven’t visited your site for a little while and your son is so big now! What a handsome little guy.
Talk about a fabulous weekend!

Looks like a fabulous weekend! Do you have a link of how you make your sweet potato fries? They would go great with the black bean burgers I have on the menu for this week.

I coat in olive oil, salt, cinnamon and cayenne and then roast at 425* for at least 45 minutes for thinner ones and an hour for thicker ones.

What brand are those wooden sunglasses? I love them!
KathEats says
Bold Rock Cider had them made/branded, but I didn’t see a manufacturer on them

I was going to ask! They’re so cool. Something similar popped up on my Pinterest page…..https://www.bourbonandboots.com/products/bourbon-barrel-polarized-sunglasses?pp=0

The strawberries and greens looks amazing! Your panko pesto salmon sounds delish! i didn’t see the recipe on your recipe page, would you mind sharing it? Yum Yum!
KathEats says
I spread on mustard, then a layer of pesto and then dipped in panko and pan-fried on medium heat for about 4 minutes per side. If it’s thick you might have to add a lid and let it “bake” on the stove top a little
Tina says
Thanks, Kath! This sounds fabulous! and so easy!

Three is a rough time for us too. It’s just too hot to do anything here during that time of day. Strawberries are out of season for us now, but this is getting me excited about taking a trip to do blueberry picking! So glad you and M had fun. Lovely pics as always!

Fun weekend! The strawbs look delish. Tell me about harvesting your lettuces – looks like you just cut them off with scissors? I always wondered how that worked – do you end up picking the lettuce from the root and being left with nothing? Ha! Love to be enlightened!
KathEats says
I *think* you’re just supposed to cut them flush across but leave the roots so they grow back!

Fruit picking is the best summer activity! Cherry picking is my all time fav!
Sarah @ BucketListTummy says
Those berries look so plump and fresh! Congrats on scoring two goals – almost a hat trick! Looks like a great weekend 🙂

Hi! Where are the glasses from? I love them!
KathEats says
They’re from Bold Rock Cider, so some promotional brand ones
