^^ Matt harvesting his first hops!
Well that was a fun weekend! I love writing these recaps – it sure feels like we cover a lot of ground in 48 hours!
Friday night we had tickets to a concert, so we got a babysitter for Mazen (he is currently obsessed with his babysitters and requests them!) and went out on the town.
We had dinner at Bizou, which was delicious.
We split a bottle of rose and I had filo wrapped salmon while Matt got tofu and mushroom tamales!
Dessert was a very healthy tasting peach crisp made with granola!
The show was at The Southern, and the band was The London Souls. One of the members is a friend of Sarah’s so we went in a big group. They were great!
Saturday morning I got up early and went to 8am athletic conditioning with Bradley – great way to start the day!
Another great way to start the day – this donut from the market. I had that for breakfast plus a juicy nectarine. Sometimes you just gotta eat what you crave.
For lunch we went to Brazos Tacos, one of our newest restaurants! This was my first visit – loved it!!!! Casual, fun atmosphere and a great menu packed with creative and classic tacos.
Loved the guac, cheese and salsa that came with our chips.
Matt and I each had 3 tacos – one with yams, one with lots of cheese and refried beans and a classic one with meat and avocado.
Brazos turned into BraZOO for the afternoon and had a petting zoo on site. The kids had a great time meeting the animals!
We took Sylvia home with us to give the Struckmanns a break for the afternoon.
Later we took Sylvia back home and went for a swim.
The kiddos had an early dinner before we headed home for bedtime.
After M went to bed Matt and I cooked some crabcakes I got at the market for dinner and opened a bottle of La Crema.
And late night – I went to a DJ party with a bunch of friends at The Jefferson. Fun times!!!
Sunday was uneventful other than my first women’s league soccer game of the fall season!! We won!
We ended the weekend with a birthday party for our neighbor and had pizza and ice cream cake : )
What was the highlight of your weekend!?

Looks like a fun weekend! I miss La Crema!

What a great weekend! Yummy food and it looks like beautiful weather! Between the donut and thr tacos and the wine, I’m jealous! The highlight of my weekend was a little informal brewery tour around Charlotte! Thr gloomy weather called for it..

I’m such a sucker for Mexican food. Those tacos look fab!!

Fun weekend! Looks like you had a blast.
After two weeks of holidaying, I was quite content to spend the weekend at home with Mr. Science, catching up on work 🙂 Still managed to get outside for a few walks and bike rides, so that was super lovely!

Looks like such a fun weekend and I’m feeling super envious of those tacos! Oh my! Highlight of my weekend was definitely dinner with some friends (one from out of state who I haven’t seen in nearly a year!). It was just so nice to catch up and enjoy an easy evening.

The highlight of my weekend was a trip to Linville Caverns and Linville Falls. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend it! We went with our church team. It was a great work out and beautiful weather. 🙂
Also, that picture of you, Matt and Sylvia? Adorable – you both look so natural! It’s hard to describe it lol.

My highlight was that I saw Kacey Musgraves here in Atlanta on the first night of her tour. I made her a rhinestone sash (relevant to her latest album) I threw it onstage and she loved it! We had a little chat back and forth, and later that evening she even Instagrammed it! Such a fun moment for me!! I’m a huge fan of hers.

The highlight of my weekend was probably just being at home on Saturday chilling after a week of backpacking in Montana. 🙂 And that’s great that you won the match!! Woohoo!!!

Y’all should really consider taking a tour of the Sierra Nevada brewery in Mills River, NC – outside of Asheville. You’d love it!

Thanks for sharing. I love how clutter-free your kitchen is. How do you store fruits/veggies that do not go in the fridge? I know years ago you used to have a platter. How about things like school papers and things you need to remember to take care of in the near future (vehicle recall repairs, returns to make, coupons you want to remember to use)? One more thing–if you don’t mind my asking, what time does Mazen go to bed/wake up and what time do you guys go to bed/wake up? My son just started preschool so we’re on a new schedule and I’m tinkering with all of our bedtimes and wake times to get it just right. Thanks!!

1) We have a 3 tiered stand for fruits and veggies – it’s on the left side of the counters!
2) I am a rockstar with paperwork and address almost everything when it comes in the door. I put coupons in my wallet where I’ll remember to use them and school papers I transfer the info to my calendar or file them away. Bills and things I pay right when they come in (although almost everything in our house is paperless/auto draft).
3) He goes to bed at 7:30-8pm and wakes up around 7.
🙂

Thanks!!

Hi Kath, great pics! Have you considered getting a snap chat? It’s a way to share pics and videos from your daily life that you might not otherwise include in your blog pics.

I am so behind the times! How is it different from Instagram? I suppose I can sign up!

How long has Matt been growing those hops? My husband (also Matt!) has been growing some but we haven’t had anything to harvest yet!
KathEats says
Since the spring!

maybe you addressed this befor but, I have a 7 month old and I’m curious how you guys (logistically) decide who is going out while the other stays home with M, when you have dates etc. we really need to figure this one out!
KathEats says
We get a babysitter sometimes and other times just trade off.
Heidi says
Does Mazen still nap? His nighttime sleep schedule sounds ideal! Just curious to know what you do, because we have a son who is a few months younger. Thanks 🙂
KathEats says
Nope! He was staying up way too late with naps so we took them away and he sleeps great now starting at 8p.m.

The highlight of our weekend was helping out at the Elizabethtown, Pa fair with my son’s 4H club. We helped in the petting zoo and at the rabbit petting table. It was a lot of fun. After our shift we took in the rides, games and food. My son (11) would say the zip line was his fav. Mine was the artisan grilled cheese with spinach and artichoke sandwich. Yum!! Oh, and also Fat Albert’s Rat Trap, a game of chance where a live trained rat picks the winning color! Way to cute!!!!
elizabeth says
Like your shorts, are those some that you like from the gap?
KathEats says
Yes!
