This weekend was a dehydrating one…because of wine and sports! I’m nursing a headache on this fine Sunday afternoon.
I’m also blogging from the PORCH! It’s so unseasonably warm today that I think all of Cville is in shock. Hope it sticks around!
On Friday night we went out to dinner with Sylvia’s family to Zocalo. Matt and I barely glanced at the menu before ordering – we knew we were getting the fritters, the pepper and either the salmon or the scallops (decided on the salmon!) We just love these entrees, so the thought of getting anything else is scary!
The pigs are now traveling with us places ; )
Saturday morning I had a refreshing bowl of yogurt with bananas and Cville Cluster granola crumbs before heading to the gym. ACAC has added a new 10:30 kettlebell class that is the perfect time for us. What wasn’t great was that it’s held in the tiny cycle studio, so there was barely any space. I got 75% of a good workout and then relaxed in the hot tub for a bit before M and I went on a lunch date!
I gave him a choice of pizza or mac and cheese and his answer was french fries. After a few rounds of questioning, he finally stuck with pizza, so we went to Vita Nova. Pizza covered in spinach is totally a health food in my book! We brought Matt and Jeff, who were brewing beer, slices home.
During naptime, I headed out with some friends to Trump + Blenheim wineries!
Naomi and I split a bottle of the Trump Viognier and a tasting at Blenheim.
Neither of us had dinner plans, so we invited her husband and two girls over for dinner. We picked up the ultimate take-out: Whole Foods! Two rotisserie chickens, kale caesar (LOVE that salad and I want to learn to make it at home!) and sweet potatoes + carrots roasted. More vino = my mistake.
For dessert we all shared an assortment of cookies from their cookie bar. The toffee ones were my fav! A lot of them ended up not tasting as good as they looked. Too crunchy and not enough soft texture!
Sunday morning we had a big family breakfast with some smoked Irish bacon from Babes in the Wood, plus eggs and toast with jam. A nibble of banana too!
Then we all headed to ACAC Adventure Central for my soccer game! Matt and Mazen jumped around in the big play room while I ran back and forth on the court.
I scored a goal and we won!!! Yahoo! M still doesn’t like it when I play – he cries for me when I go from bench to court! Hence the sad face.
We hit up the grocery store on the way back and then heated up leftovers for lunch. I had a chicken thigh and leftover turmeric rice over a baby kale salad with cheese, pecans and orange-flavored olive oil drizzle. Smoked sea salt ended up in there too! Delicious.
We worked around the house in the afternoon, and I made this walnut butter recipe that I’ll be sharing with you guys tomorrow.
We’re making this chicken pot pie for dinner with the leftover rotisserie chicken. Can’t wait for the crust!!

Love having leftover chicken at hand!! The best…especially the thighs and drumsticks! Yummers! Hope the headache eases, the warmer weather and sunshine has to help 🙂

Sounds like a great weekend to me! Mazen is such a cutie!
Linda @ the Fitty says
I love it when kids choose the option not offered. Keeps life interesting and playful. 🙂 And I see he eats his pizza with a knife and fork! I used to scratch my head at the idea because it was so weird to me, but now even I’d do that.

Looks like a fun-filled weekend with lots of delicious things and good times.
What was the salmon crusted with? It looks super yummy, I can see why you were set on ordering it.
KathEats says
It’s actually a pepper encrusted with crushed tortilla chips! SO GOOD!
Cara's Healthy Cravings says
Ooohhhh, that’s cool!

Ooh that slide looks fun! What’s your favorite kind of nut butter?
KathEats says
I go through phases…sunflower was for 2014. Almond butter before that. Before that it was mixed. Walnut is coming tomorrow!
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
My husband and I were just talking about chicken pot pie… and the crust. I just love pie crust! I’m going to take this as a sign and put it on my meal plan for next week 🙂

Love Mazen’s pigs that are making appearances in your pictures! So cute!! Does he have names for them? What company makes them?
KathEats says
They are the Peppa Pig family from the TV show so he uses their real names…mommy pig, daddy pig, Peppa and Georgie
Emily @ Life on Food says
I love roasted chicken leftovers too. It is almost harder for me to figure out what to do with the leftovers than to simply have that for dinner.
Mom says
So glad the pigs are getting to see a bit of Cville. Beautiful sliding board (and beautiful boy sliding down it!)
Christy @themuddyapron says
We LOVE Peppa pig here. It makes me laugh. Oh, and spinach on pizza = healthy. My daughter said that if we just put salad on pizza it makes it healthy and she has three years worth of eating experience.

In the pic where he is sad, I love that he is holding your pony tail for comfort. Mine does this too and I think it’s so sweet.
KathEats says
Oh mam, he is obsessed with “mommy’s hair.”

I was reading this without my glasses and I thought it said you were blogging from your Porsche. I was excited for you, then realized it said porch ha ha!
Peppa Pig and family overlooking bacon being eaten…I’m surprised they didn’t run from the table 🙂

Haha I wish!
