We had the most beautiful weekend!! Brilliant blue skies, colorful falling leaves and perfect warm-but-jeans-friendly temps. (Also, look at our kale garden exploding in the background!)
I changed my beachy tablescape to a more spooky setup. Loving the change! The plate in the middle is owl shaped : )
Friday night we had the neighbors on our block over for cocktail hour on the porch. We sipped pumpkin beer, ate Monticello peanuts and played in the yard. We’ve gotten to know our street so much better this year!
Mazen and I played lots of “jump off the bench”!
Our friends stayed for pizza dinner. The kiddos were in seventh heaven.
Saturday morning we made pancakes. Sprinkles to celebrate Larbs’ birthday!!!
The boys went to the park and I headed to a soccer game. The first of two this weekend. Those legs are tired! PS. That’s my old shoe bag…or maybe Larbs’s …from high school. My mom happened to ask if I wanted it, and it’s been so convenient to have again!
Saturday lunch came from deep inside the fridge. A No Bull burger with leftover parsnips and peppers with hummus. With the changing of the seasons I get a little sick of salads. I was glad to have a veggie alternative. It’s soup season!
Saturday afternoon we did some baking! While I prepared the real recipe, Mazen did a pretend one with honey in a cup. He is loving cooking these days.
I cannot wait to share these with you soon!!!
Later that evening we all headed into the country for a harvest party!
Loved those collards!
Hi Mr. Walty!
When darkness settled in our hosts lit the bonfire and s’mores were gobbled down!
Sunday involved a morning trip to the grocery store. Whole Foods at 8:30am on Sunday is GLORIOUS! I had a cappuccino while I shopped and waited approximately zero minutes in line.
Meal prep!
Then I headed out to soccer game #2. Our team played so well, and we almost won but ended up in a tie. We always tie!
Post soccer lunch: smoked salmon, freshly baked sweet potato fries, cheese and greens. Plus some baked apples for dessert.
Sunday afternoon I got a little work done editing photos (and writing this post!) and then we headed down the street for our neighborhood association picnic.
It was a little weird to eat dinner at 4:30, but I can be convinced to eat at any hour : )
Mazen LOVED the pumpkin painting station!!
Happy birthday week to me

Happy birthday week to you too!
I’m always amazed and inspired how you get so much fun stuff packed into a weekend – especially with a little guy to take care of. I wish we had a closer neighborhood for evening activities because that sounds like so much fun. If those pumpkin cookies turned out, be sure to share the recipe! Can’t get enough festive goodies right now. 🙂

Looks like a great weekend balance of physical activity & social plans! Can I ask how you do your sweet potato fries? I have a hard time getting mine crisp without burning them!
KathEats says
We cook them on a cooling rack to allow more air circulation. 400* for about an hour.

Is that also how you roast your kabocha?
KathEats says
Yes

Looks like such a great weekend. So many great fall events to attend. What type of camera do you use to take your pictures and what program do you use for editing? They are always beautiful. Thanks!

Looks like a lovely fall weekend! I too get a little sick of salads this time a year. They actually start to make me a little gaggy.

I am a UVA grad and this post just reminds me that there is truly nothing better than Charlottesville in the Fall! PS. Can you send your green thumb my way because all of my produce dies, a fast, fast death.
