You are cordially digitally invited….
I am so excited to share our wedding invitations, which I ordered through Minted! I’ve worked with Minted in the past to feature our holiday cards, and the topic of wedding invitations came up during our correspondence earlier this year. Minted told me that when they time came, they would love to send me a set of invites in exchange for sharing them on the blog. I already knew that Minted had some really awesome options, so I couldn’t wait to browse the designs!
Minted offers full suites of invites with matching save the dates, websites, thank you cards, table numbers, place cards and more, so you can have everything match with the same design. Here are a few other designs that I loved:
Choosing one was really, really hard, as there were so many that I liked! Ultimately, we decided on a design that combined florals with blues, greens, and purples and mixed in a little watercolor and sparkle in the gold foil frame.
You can see almost see how the foil shines when the cards move in this image:
The back of both the invitations and the reply cards has a beautiful watercolor pattern, and I love the shapes too.
Perhaps my favorite part about working with Minted was that they have the ability to print the names and addresses of your guests for you! I just uploaded an Excel doc of our guest list and they arrived beautifully addressed. I love the matching design on the envelopes too.
Lastly, I ordered a set of matching thank you notes, as thank yous should not be forgotten!
I can’t wait for our guests to see them in person!
In other news, I bought a dress!! I went to Sealed with a Kiss, Cville’s downtown bridal boutique, on Tuesday with two of my girlfriends. It was a great experience! I tried on about 8 different dresses, and fell in love with one of them that just seemed to fit me, the occasion, and the setting perfectly. With a shorter engagement I was most worried about finding a dress, knowing the ordering and alterations process can take months, but luckily everything is do-able. I cannot wait for the big day! Jessica brought out champagne to celebrate “saying yes to the dress!” Haha. Cheers!

Congrats on finding a dress!!! LOVE these posts!! So exciting! And the invitations are gorgeous!

Proper etiquette is that the bride’s name goes first, even in a second wedding. Is there a reason you didn’t do this?
KathEats says
We thought “Thomas and Kath” sounded better. I’m not worried about proper etiquette in 2017 for something that minor 😉
Andrea says
Good for you! Beautiful invitations!
Kimberly says
Definitely a more casual/fun vibe with your invitations (his name first, not using last names). Love that you’re sharing these things with us and looking forward to more wedding posts. Definitely will keep Minted in mind for the future after seeing your invites!
Linda @ the Fitty says
I had no idea there was such etiquette! Is it different in different continents?

What would those invitations cost had you not gotten them sponsored? I ask because in some cases it’s far cheaper to just print them yourself. We did that for our wedding and we saved quite a bit of money.
KathEats says
The total was about $900, including postage and thank you notes. I try not to bring up “last time,” but I DIYed a lot of my paper (menus, programs, place cards) and it did save a lot.

I love wedding planning posts! Wish we could see the dress now, I bet it is beautiful! Is Mazen going to be in the wedding? A ring bearer perhaps?
KathEats says
He’s going to walk with me down the aisle, I think!
Leatitia says
I just read this and OMG i would cry all the tears having my son walk me down the aisle! :*)
Andrea @ French Pressed Kitchen says
The invites are so pretty! I wanna see the dress, ha!

You have no idea how much I want to share it – haha!

You picked such gorgeous invitations, and I cannot wait to see your dress! Thanks for sharing all these fun details! Are you planning to keep your maiden name? I’m getting married in September, and still haven’t decided what I’ll do.
KathEats says
Yes, I’ve always been a Younger and don’t plan to change, but it is tempting!
Annie says
I’m also getting married in September and can’t decide! Time is ticking … eek!
Kelly says
I changed mine in my first wedding and always regretted it. I changed it back after I got divorced…. now i’m remarried and, like you Kath, was very tempted to change it!! But I stuck with my maiden name. Such an individual and personal choice.
KathEats says
Thanks for sharing! Names are so personal!
alan says
Just a simple “Congrats”. Beautiful invites (and yes, this is a male talking here lol)
And “etiquette” referrerd to above? I doubt any guy would know or care of whose name goes first!
KathEats says
Thank you Alan : )

I have been following you for YEARS (I LOVE your blog) and I want to tell you how happy I am for you and Thomas
I know you marriage will be beautiful and will look forward to seeing all your beautiful pictures..

Thank you so much Stacey <3

Love the invites – gorgeous!

I’ve always been crazy for paper products! I love the feel and look of paper and a beautiful invitation/holiday card/change of address/anything makes me a little giddy! Somehow when I get an evite or paperless post announcement, it doesn’t evoke the same excitement or anticipation.
Beautiful choice on the invitations and thanks for sharing with us!

I noticed your reply card says “kindly respond as soon as possible.” I am curious if you wonder about any straggler (sp?) replies or how to handle non-responses for food/beverage/seating counts? (no judgement on etiquette from me…I am only interested in the logistics. I was married at the courthouse :))
KathEats says
I didn’t want to commit to putting a date on there so I just kept it open ended. We’re having a small wedding and have been in touch with nearly all of our guests already, so we already generally know who is coming and most have already made travel plans. Plus if we invite someone a little later, I didn’t want the reply card to have an outdated date! I think it’s just because we’re doing a shorter engagement that we’re just keeping things relaxed.
Kelly Mach @ littlepieceofom.com says
The invitations are beautiful and you are going to make the most stunning bride! We got engaged and married within 9 months and I remember thinking that was honestly too long! I don’t know how people wait years. There is so much time to second guess everything. To each his own, I suppose, but I think you’re doing it right. 🙂
Leatitia says
Gorgeous!! Planning is half the fun. 🙂
Alathea says
I just adore how relaxed you are! The invitations are gorgeous and so creatively designed!!! Love them.
Jeanie says
Love all the cards!

Congratulations on finding a dress! That was the most stressful part for me, for sure. And those invitations are absolutely stunning.

Those are lovely! I am really impressed with how much progress you’ve made. My wedding is 13 months away and I’ve done nothing but book the venue (which I guess is a big deal) and imagined our signature cocktails. I was also thinking to use Minted for our Save the Dates. Yours look lovely!
KathEats says
Haha! I used The Knot’s checklist to get me going, and have knocked out all the big to-dos. It’s helpful to see everything in one place!
Ashley says
I’m impressed by your progress, Kath! Although it’s not really surprising. I’m in the midst of wedding planning myself, and the to-do list feels never-ending!
Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) says
Wow, you got a lot done already! That’s awesome! The invitations are GORGEOUS! I love the gold. Sooooo pretty! I like that you’re relaxed about everything, such as whose name goes first, and the RSVP date – less stress!
