Sweet Mazen burst into tears after the ceremony because he thought my dad was “giving me away” to Thomas. Such a tender moment of child innocence.
We assured him that things would be just as usual in a few days, with us and Gus all together. A few high fives put a smile back on his face.
Check out that new RING! I can just hear her saying “mmmm hmmm!”
When our families joined in, we took a few group photos of everyone together.
Happy birthday today to our siblings, who share a bday!!!
While we took photos, our guests enjoyed cocktail hour.
During pictures we were able to get in a few of our passed appetizers. These pimento cheese biscuits were out of this world!
Sadly, I didn’t get a bacon wrapped date, but this photo of them looks mouth watering! : )
Snacks for the children were more familiar goldfish! : )
Yes, please!
Just us
We knew we didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, so we used cocktail hour for photo time. I loved being one-on-one with my new husband for a while, and it made our time away together even more special.
My favorite moments of the day were when we went down to the hidden lake and sat on the dock. So much of a wedding day is filled with greetings, hugs, and talking – it was so wonderful just to sit and rest in each other’s arm for a moment and listen to the birds chirping… and the photographers snapping away! : )
I hope we can have dinner or an overnight at the Clifton Inn every anniversary and spend some time on this dock thinking about how special our wedding day was!
After I had my dress bustled, we made our entrance into the reception as Mr. and Mrs.!

OMG the picture of Mazen. Made my heart hurt. So sweet.

The look on your face when you were consoling Mazen–that is a mother’s look. I have a (now grown) son and I could tell–everything else stopped for you. You just wanted him to be ok.
Also–LOL so cute! “don’t give away my mommy! “

Really lovely pictures, Kath. I especially like the one with the white brick building behind you two, and of course the lake ones, peaking through the trees. Sweet Mazen, what a great job the photographer did capturing the moments. <3

Poor sweet Mazen thinking you were being given to Thomas! Did he think he wouldn’t see you anymore? Good thing he didn’t cry during the ceremony! Your pictures are beautiful and you both look so happy.

That story about Mazen made me tear up, BUT it is definitely a story that will be funny later- you might even tell it at HIS wedding one day. Beautiful photos!
KathEats says
It was such sweet child innocence! I think my mom must have said the “giving him away” phrase to him and that was the first he’d heard of it. He was so excited up until that point. Sweet boy!

I can’t get over how beautiful you look, Kath! That moment with Mazen and the “giving away” is just too precious. Loving the photo installments :).
Celeste says
Beautiful pictures! I know its not necessarily a “frame it” pic but that one of you and Mazen (and the peek of Thomas) is a beautiful portrait of a family – Mom and (step)Dad comforting a little boy who is confused and just loves his family. All of your photos are wonderful and celebrate your love with your new husband but that one is truly a now y’all are a family moment. I hope you print it for an album!

Favorite picture has to be the two kids!! (Well, fine, there are many favorites-the two of you photograph beautifully and if this 3 day blog post isn’t the best ad ever for your photographer, I don’t know what is).
I love the posed shots, but even more, the unposed shots. Her use of lighting, depth of field, emotion–wow is all I can say. And yes you and T make a very gorgeous bride and groom, with happiness oozing from my screen. Thank you for sharing your most private moment with your virtual family and friend world.
I don’t think I”ve made this many comments ever but this photo essay warrants it. So much congrats for your families.

I love the way you look at Mazen when he cries. So heartbreaking, yet so much love into your eyes! Poor sweet boy, it is a strange concept for your mom to be given away! The pictures are absolutely gorgeous. That light.

What beautiful photos! You can just see how happy you both are. The picture with your son made me tear up. I remember my stepdaughter- then 6- being somewhat confused about what her dad getting married meant (even though she and I have always had a close relationship)…add to that the fact that I now have a son that age and the look on your face and just cue tears! Thanks so much for sharing your day!

That moment with Mazen.. oh my HEART <3 so sweet. So many beautiful pictures. Thanks for all the recaps– I'm enjoying them!

You both look so genuinely happy! I’m happy for you and glad you were able to explain and comfort Mazen right away, too.

Oh sweet Mazen! His poor little face! Now that made me cry. We don’t even think about how these terms like “giving the bride away” could be taken literally by kiddos, do we? I wonder if the emotion of it all (like the charged air you talked about) wound up getting to him once it was over. It’s a really great photo she captured there, because your love for Mazen looks so fierce and then there’s Thomas down comforting him, too. Sweet, sweet moment.
Gorgeous photos once again! The only thing that irritates me is that why are literally ALL of you so photogenic in EVERY shot. Rude! :)))
Again, thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful day and everything looks amazing. I wish you lots of happiness in your future.
Are you taking your husband’s name this time? I’m always curious people’s thought around that since I didn’t but sometimes regret it.
KathEats says
It was tempting to consider, but I am still not going to change it. Too many logistics! I can be Mrs. Donne socially 🙂
Beth says
I can’t stop looking at the photo of you comforting Mazen… what a beautiful captured moment of motherhood. Your face shows that in that moment, everything else ceased to exist. Thank you for sharing with us.
