While our real wedding anniversary isn’t until June 2, we’re celebrating this weekend at Bald Head Island. To kick things off, the husband ordered a bouquet of my wedding flowers! So sweet!
The flowers were probably my favorite piece of all the wedding decor – they turned out much prettier than I ever imagined.
We set up an extra special breakfast today 🙂
Three Time’s A Charm!
Granola Oats again with hot tea –
I used our button mum bowls for the occasion. I saw these at CB2 shortly after the wedding and had to get them in honor of the flowers!
We’re pittering around and heading to the gym in a bit. I was hoping to go to 9:15 cycle class, but it’s getting late and I’m not digested enough! We’ll see.
We leave for Bald Head shortly after lunch when my sister’s Matt arrives from the airport. My sister is bringing our anniversary cake from Raleigh and we’re also uncorking the prized Chardonnay from the honeymoon in Sonoma: Ferrari-Carano’s Tre Terre.
I can’t wait to eat that cake!!
caitlinbo says
kath, youve got to tell me exactly what flowers are in your bouquet! we are getting married in January and I think if I swapped out your pink roses with yellow ones (my bridesmaids are yellow), it would be PERFECT!!
Jenn says
Delurking to say Happy almost anniversary! Marriage has been one of the most amazing blessings in my life, and it seems like it has in yours too. Here is to many, many more. And I hope your cake is wonderful!

Happy early anniversary! Beautiful way to start the day 🙂
Thanks, too, for the advice!! Everything you said really made sense and hit home.
Anne P says
p.s. where are your bridesmaid dresses from??
Betsy in Pittsburgh says
I’d love to make the granola – but I’m trying to find really good quality, pure honey. A guy I work with has honey bees and makes his own honey, but you have to beg and plead to get even an ounce from him! Anybody know any good, homegrown places you can order it from?
Also, LOVE the color assortment of the flowers!
LT says
Congrats Kath & Matt! Have a great weekend!
linds says
Wow I am in love with your wedding bouquet and cake colors…They look so beautiful! Enjoy your special weekend 🙂

ok, so i think this is why i cant ever get married. I wouldnt even think to order flowers, and i cant even decide what to wear in the morning, let alone and entire color scheme.
I’ll just be a spinster.
Happy anniversary!

hi kath,
the flowers look BEAUTIFUL! You guys are so cute! I had a question for you, how many days (on average) does it take for your eating habits to show up on a scale. (i have been trying to lose 4lbs) (i have been eating less for 1 1/2 days) should i see results immediately or does it take a while? just wondering?
thanks! 🙂

Mel-
I actually live in Houston now…moved down last year for a job and will be starting grad school in the fall. I’m in Ohio right now though for the weekend (and just got done enjoying a nice, cool run for once!). I’m from the Dayton area…Fairborn to be exact. I think you said you’ll be living in Kettering? That’s a nice area…and not too far from Fairborn!
mel says
aww awesome Justy! If you are in Dayton at all next year of for the next 3 years (ha!) I’d love to get together! and if anyother girls on here live nearby! I’m always jealous of girls who live in nyc or near kath and get to go out to fun dinners together! No one on here lives in Kentucky but me! ha! Kettering seems to be really nice and I’m excited!its really close to the university also! do you ever ride the light rail or is it unsafe? I’ve heard both ways about it but it runs right to the University and gas is too much for my suv!
Allison K. says

Richelle says
That picture of you and your bridesmaid is such a good one! Oh man I can’t wait to get married.. I’m going have a field day.
Happy early anniversary!
rachel k says
Hey! Pretty flowers.
I have an exercise question for anyone who wants to answer:
I took a break from my normal desk job to help my family plant a vineyard in the mountains. I haven’t been running and lifting weights like I normally do (4-5x week of 30-40 min cardio and 2x week weights), but I have been working in the fields for 7 hours/day min (planting vines, watering, digging stuff, etc..). Basically I am a farmer who doesn’t use a tractor. I am very sore, so I know my muscles are working BUT I am not running/boosting my heart rate for more 5 min at a time.
Should I walk/run on top of this? Or am I getting adequate cardio? Also, should I increase my caloric intake based on this change in activity level?
Chelsea says
I can’t believe it’s been a year!!!! Did you guys save any of that yummy peanut butter grooms cake? Or did you give me the last piece?!?! I know it was in high demand :0)
It’s been a year since we saw each other!!! August better get here quickly!

Congrats Kath!
Random question for anyone – can you make the “cheese danish” pancake batter the night before and refrigerate it or will it not taste right the next morning?
bcgirl says
Happy Anniversary! I’m with everyone else, that was very thoughtful and sentimental of Matt to think of buying you your wedding flowers. Cue “Awwwww”.
To all the Americans enjoy your long weekend and think of me on Monday slaving away behind a desk while you’re out enjoying the sun! haha. I can’t complain too much though, I enjoyed a long weekend last weekend.
Kel says
June 2nd is my 1st anniversary, too! Unfortunately, I start grad school on that day 🙁
I hope you all have lots of fun on your getaway!
Kath says
Thanks for all the wedding wishes!!!
caitlinbo ,
The flowers are pink and orange roses with green button mums. That’s it!
Anne,
I was trying to remember that quote this morning!! Too bad I’m graciously sharing with my sister and Matt too. Guess I won’t get the whole thing.
The BM dresses were Charsa:

Nicole ,
So glad it was helpful – good luck!
Kasidy ,
I’d give it 1-2 weeks – plus you never know when water weight is influencing the number.
Ashley H,
No wedding planner – I did it all myself with tons of inspiration from TheKnot.com. I made our programs and all the favor tags and menus by hand and designed the invitations too. It was all so much fun!
Mother of the Bride,
Glad you enjoyed your anniversary cake too!!
Chelsea ,
I forgot we gave you a piece!!! We ended up eating a piece ourselves every night of the honeymoon. Maybe next year we’ll get that as an anniversary cake 🙂
Kat ,
I’ve made the batter the night before but not the pancakes. I really think they’re best hot of the stove.
Kath

Peanut butter groom’s cake? YUM!
Mel-
I’ll be back in Dayton a few times in the next 3 years 🙂 Mostly just for holidays though…Thanksgiving and Christmas of course. I don’t know much about the light rail…actually didn’t even know there was one! I’ve never spent much time in the actual city of Dayton and I went away for school, so I’m sure some things have changed in the past 5 years! Feel free to shoot me an e-mail ([email protected]) if you want to chat more about Dayton…and I’m all for meeting up if you want sometime when I’m home!
RachelD says
Betsy in PA, I would try your local farmers market, or any smaller farms where they have things like strawberry picking or pumpkin picking, around here those places always have local honey. and it is usually a lot more for less cost.
Runnerwithstyle says
I love the color palate of your wedding. My favorite colors!
Grammar Elitist says
I wouldn’t (or, would not) normally comment on your grammar, since I understand that when you have to type fast it is (or, it’s) easy to make mistakes, especially if you don’t (or, do not) revise what you have written.
But since you made such a glaring mistake in your title, I thought that I might leave you a little reminder about proper contraction formation so that you might avoid making the same embarrassing (especially since you are a college graduate) mistake in the future. Using an apostrophe with an “s” at the end of a word indicates that either the word is a noun and possesses the noun immediately following (ex: Sara’s dog) OR that the word forms a contraction with “is” (ex: It’s time to go). In your case, you should have stuck with either “Third Time’s (as in, Time Is) a Charm” or “Three Times a Charm” or EVEN “Third Time’s Charm” as odd as it is to treat “Third Time” as a possessive noun. But I’m sorry, “Three Time Is a Charm” makes absolutely no sense!
