Because it’s too hot for anything else….I went swimming!!
Matt walked me to the gym and then he went for a REALLY HOT run. He said he stopped at a fountain and dunked his head! I offered to treat him to a gym swim, but he said he’d rather run. Suit yourself! The pool felt great, and I swam for about 30 minutes – 15 of freestyle non-stop and then 15 of different strokes to entertain my brain. The walk home (post shower) was quite steamy, but luckily the air is blasting cool inside.
When we reconnected, we made BLTs for lunch!
Delicious slices of tomato, bacon, triple cream brie and lettuce on Cheddar Garlic!
I prepared fruit salads on the side – nectarine, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.
Lemonade-y water for the ultimate cooling
Have a sparkler afternoon!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Haha sounds like a hot run! I took my run to the treadmill this morning!
Erica { EricaDHouse.com } says
I don’t eat meat but those BLT’s are mouthwatering! Stay hydrated!
Kel says
It is 99 degrees which feels like 114 at the moment here in MN. Even the thought of Matt running makes me sweat!
Ann says
Delish, looks lovely! Not a huge pork fan but I do love the occasional BLT, and yours looks great. Does your bread company make a good jalepeno cheddar?! Craving some now that I see all that lovely cheese marbled in those slices!
KathEats says
We do occasionally! And we have a jalapeno cheddar scuffin!
Ann says
Yum!!! Now how to get down there for a scuffin from Ontario? haha

I’m kind of bummed by the heat. Even the kids said heck no to playing outside when they went out for a few minutes earlier. It’s just way too hot for anything outside!

The heat index in Tampa is like 105* today! It was definitely a pool afternoon 🙂 And I wish I could eat that cheddar bread, it looks amazing and so pretty too! We used to have a Great Harvest in Tampa but they closed down a few years ago… sad face.
Michelle (Peachy Palate) says
All this talking of swimming is making me want to take to the pool, putting it on my to do list for the weekend!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Mmm that looks like a delicious post-swim lunch! I haven’t been swimming in forever (which is shameful since it’s summer!)… might see if I can make it to a pool this weekend. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the weather (even if it’s really really hot!!)

One of my top 10 fave types of sandwiches has to be a BLT! When my husband makes them, my mouth waters until the sandwich is assembled and in my belly 🙂

Sounds like a great lunch!

Stay cool! It’s 60F, cold, misting, windy and awful in sunny San Diego! They are even cancelling some fireworks shows due to weather. Wish we could trade weather 🙂

I just returned from a 4th Celebration that included Great Harvest Bread and I am so excited, since I don’t have a store close to my house. My dad was gifted some things from a Great Harvest owner/operator in exchange for repairing the guy’s motorcycle! I got a bag of granola out of the deal! 🙂

That sandwich looks deeelish. I love walking I to an air conditioned house when it’s hot outside!
kristen @ verbs and vignettes says
somehow I don’t think I drank enough water today! I feel a little dehydrated; it must have to do with the sangria.
sandwich looks a-mazing. I prepped for a huge caprese salad, but we only ate half of it. I see a lot of delicious mozzarella tomato sandwiches in my upcoming week. 🙂
happy holiday!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I keep seeing commercials on tv that show a BLT and just make it look mouth-watering (I think for Hellman’s maybe?) and I’ve been craving one for weeks! I need to actually remember to pick up bacon when I’m at the store in order for that to happen. 🙂

Hi Kath! I noticed a couple posts back that you took a picture of your fridge and it was pretty bare. That seems nice since it’s not as stressful to “use up stuff” when you don’t have a lot to begin with. How often do you go grocery shopping, and is your pantry/freezer significantly more full or do you try not to have too much food period. Thanks!!
KathEats says
I go to the store once a week, although in the summer I supplement from the city market and in the winter I occasionally do need to replenish on day 5.
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I got my run in early but even still, it was hot and humid…felt tired before I started! That cheese bread looks amazing…it actually looks like it has cheese in it! Thank goodness we are near water and have the A/C! Evening was lovely to sit outside…nice breeze compensated for the heat. Just waiting for the fireworks to start across the lake…hope we can see them through the fog!
Elle @ nutritionella says
I went on a REALLY hot run the other day and drank a VERY cold glass of ice water beforehand – some research study determined it helps keep your core temperature down & performance up while exercising in the heat. I was skeptical but I have to say, it seemed to help! That lemonade-y water looks refreshing. Stay cool!

Catching up on your posts from the last few days. I’m in WV where our power has been out since the Friday night storm. Thankfully we have a generator but this is getting old. We have to watch what power we’re using – AC and TV is OK, turn AC off to cook or use other power. Did load of laundry last night but dryer is too many watts so hung up to dry. Using paper plates so we don’t have lots of dishes to wash. Have to go get gas every day to feed the generator. Estimate is we’ll get power back on Sunday night so we’ll be doing this a few more days.

Eeeek – hang in there!
Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac says
Yum, that BLT looks superior to most that I’ve had!
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
I’ve been drinking water (and eating watermelon like its nobody’s business!) Bring on the hydration 🙂
