I’ve been busy at home today – back-2-back conference calls (including an interview with our local paper) and a little meal prep for tonight –
Plus the usual blogging chores!
Breakfast, although eaten late, kept me full for hours. I still wasn’t terribly hungry as of 1:30pm but I had to eat so I could get to the bakery!
I pulled together a salad – greens, peppers, cuc, tomatoes, beans topped with coconut oil (yum!), honey, salt, manchego cheese and pecans
Probably gonna need a snack this afternoon – that’s something to get hungry about!
Warrior Crunch
Today’s OpenSky deal is more than just some delicious granola – all purchases go towards helping blogger Susan, who writes The Great Balancing Act. Susan was diagnosed with Lymphoma this summer and is in need of financial support to help pay for her treatments.
Nuts About Granola owner Sarah has a new flavor, Warrior Crunch, that she created with the intent of having a portion of the proceeds go directly to cancer research with Cancer Warriors. As a supporter and friend of the healthy living blog community, Sarah was able to get Cancer Warriors to agree to have all of the money raised in sales of this granola go directly to Susan’s recovery and treatment.
The Chocolate Cherry flavored granola has bits of little chocolate chips, tart cherries, a warm hint of cinnamon and nutmeg and (my personal favorite) – puffed millet. It’s a bit crunchy, a bit chewy and full of love.
Let’s all go nuts about Warrior Crunch and help a friend in need. Two bags for $12!
See you tonight!
Emily says
Hey Kath! Does Open Sky ship to Canada? I remember seeing somewhere that it doesn’t…..
KathEats says
Unfortunately no
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
I’ve been seeing your granola all over the blogosphere! It must be a sign!
Caroline @ The G-Spot says
Lovin’ that salad — gorgeous! Have a happy afternoon. 🙂
Cait's Plate says
I’m super excited for that granola to come actually (and trying to distract myself from the fact that you hinted last night that Groovy Granola may potentially be up for grabs at some point!!)
That salad looks amazing – pecans were such a nice choice. I love them in salads (especially candied!) and definitely don’t do it enough.
Have a great rest of the afternoon 🙂
Hillary says
Mmm coconut oil as dressing. Well done, Kath. I’ll need to try that!
Hallie says
Hey! Wondering if you know, or can find out, how much is “a portion of the proceeds”? I’ve been meaning to donate and haven’t yet so I’m considering this deal but would like to know how much of my money will go to Susan. Thanks!
KathEats says
ALL of the proceeds go to Susan – but I’m not sure what the cost of the granola is to know an exact number. Neither me nor OpenSky or Sarah are making a profit on this.
Baking N Books says
I thought the beans were raisins – love raisins in salads!…and beans 😉
Hilliary @ Happily Ever Healthy says
Love that your opensky deal is going to help out Susan!
Jennifer says
Can I pay through paypal??
KathEats says
You can’t pay for the granolas through paypal but you can donate to Susan directly through this link: https://www.paypal.com/ca/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=jLbmKxMRCJFlnnxvLzCQ1-OVZ7vnfXwnB_Owqns-qKgvk8rjkyImTahQX8G&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8d1e83f46a36995b3856cef1e18897ad75

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I wish Open Sky shipped to Canada! I’d be all over this!
Emily says
Me too! I also think its ironic that Susan of The Great Balancing Act is from Canada…BUT a lot of the products that were raffled for donation were available to be shipped in Canada, just not these 🙁
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Well aren’t you just a busy bee! And congrats on the local paper interview! Can’t wait to read about it/hear about it more.
And getting a jump on dinner always is great.

Yay, Warriors! I’ve been conducting cancer research all summer long and definitely give *two thumbs up* to all efforts to make such research possible. I really believe that, together, we can conquer the beast!

Erika @ The Teenage Taste says
You make some of the best salads ever! Hearty and filling. That’s the way to go! 😀
Angel7 says
What a great way to help someone in need! That is what we were put on this earth for.
I am sure it is difficult dealing mentally, physically and emotionally with the Lymphoma, let alone financially. To have financial support makes the load a little lighter!

Nuts on salad is such a good combo! Love the crunch they add!!!
katie @KatieDid says
I LOVE your bike linen. I know its been on before but I feel compelled to comment on it today. I would love that exact print in a t-shirt I think it’d be very cute.
Molly @ RDexposed says
I’m not sure how people can eat iceberg white lettuce with ranch dressing only…just saying.
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
do you just drizzle the honey on top, or did you mix it with the coconut oil before hand? I feel like honey is so thick it wouldn’t mix over the salad well!
KathEats says
I just drizzle. I do it high above so it covers the whole top of the salad. I don’t need it to cover every leaf underneath – I like the taste of lettuce!
Holly @ thefrozenpineapple says
I made your orangey bean salad tonight and blogged about it! I used pintos since I had half a can already open…YUM!
Hannah says
I still have an almost-full jar of coconut oil that I got for Christmas… I keep forgetting to use it!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
mmm yumm. I want a huge salad for dinner now 🙂
Stephanie @cookinfanatic says
Love coconut oil and eat it every day in my oats and love cooking/baking with it – but must say that I’ve never tried it on a salad before. Sounds really good though!
Caitlin says
I just ordered my granola and I can’t wait…cherry & chocolate are one of my favorite combos. More importantly, I understand what an important cause this is going to. My father passed away from cancer this year, and anything that can be done to fight this disease makes me feel more at peace. Thank you for helping to fight cancer!
KathEats says
So sorry to hear of your father Caitlin <3
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I’m so sorry to hear about your Father.
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says

Khushboo says
MMmm i want that salad for lunch and a handful of that granola for dessert!
Lexi @ A Spoonful of Sunshine says
Coconut oil on beans…I am intrigued!
Plus, the combination of those two words = “coco beans,” which is always a good thing in my book as well 🙂
Susan says
Lovelovelove Warrior Crunch, Nuts About Granola, Cancer Warriors, and you!
