It’s WARM out today!! 22 degrees!! You would not believe the difference. I almost went out without my gloves!
Matt and I did indeed go to Kathy’s class this morning! Supastars!
We cranked up the engines to get there on time at 6AM.
Judy + Tom (the Kirkwood, Missouri owners!) came as well.
We were set up with equipment in the University of Montanan Western gym as part of their wellness program. Kathy works in legal at Great Harvest and a super fitness leader and marathoner! She led us through a variety of exercises in a specific sequence – intervals of cardio and strength for 50 minutes.
Wheee!
I WILL be sore tomorrow!
Matt had a great time too – working on his abs!
We drove home and quickly (VERY QUICKLY) showered and made our mile walk down to the HQ. We feasted when we arrived.
Oikos from our fridge topped with half a banana, Quaker Oatmeal Squares (they are still yours from my b-day Allie!) some Crunchy Buckwheat Granola (made at home) and a bit of trail mix
Served with a big mug of coffee.
Today we’re learning all about accounting, numbers, percentages, labor, Quickbooks and more. This is the stuff that is SO great to have guidance on. I am a huge numbers nerd and LOVE spreadsheets, so I am loving this day : )
Hope we can bring in the dough soon!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Lol…too funny that 22 degrees is “warm” 🙂
That looks like a great, quality workout! Hope it’s the start to a great day for ya!
Michele @ Healthy Cultivations says
You know you’ve been in cold when 22 feels warm. I know the feeling. I think anything below 20 is intolerable.
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
Congrats on getting in such a good workout! I’m pretty impressed with your breakfasts while traveling. It’s inspiring me for my trip to San Diego next week!
Victoria says
I live in Seattle and just love following your blog. I read it every day! Thanks for the inspiration and for making being healthy fun!

Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Wow, I’m just reading through after leaving a comment below. The mention of Kirkwood is sure bringing out a lot of fellow St. Louis readers 🙂

Jenni says
woohoo to a Kirkwood location!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
6 AM?! I see a bit of snow on your windshield, too, meaning you probably had to clear your car off first?? You guys really are supastars!!
Kath says
Yeah, I sent Matt to do that!
Jen says
Do you mean bread dough or money dough? 😉
Kath says
both!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
What a fun class! There’s nothing better than a hot mug of coffee on a icy cold day 🙂

Maryann says
That workout looks so fun! Glad its warmer today (although 22 is still ridiculously cold in my opinion!) Have a great day!
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
I’m pretty sure I take the cake when it comes to spreadsheet nerdiness. It’s a problem.
jen @ taste lfe says
Awesome workout this morning! Have a great day.
Kristina says
Ewww accounting… enjoy?
Stephanie says
Quickbooks is awesome. I am contemplating buying it for personal use only because I’m nerdy not out of necessity. 🙂
Mads says
I love Quickbooks too! It’s so easy to use and keeps everything perfectly organized. I am sick of excel spreadsheets for my personal budget, so it might be a good idea to buy it for personal use.
Christine says
22 feeling WARM? Crazy!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Man! That class looks like a ton of fun! And 22 degrees is warm… hmm… definitely drives the point home that it’s all relative!
Michelle says
I ditto Stacy … I work just minutes from Kirwood, MO and will be most excited to see where their store lands! Can you give us the inside scoop on when/where so that we can be on the lookout?
Sarah (Sarah Learns) says
i didn’t know there was a GH in kirkwood! my fiance goes to chiropractic school very near there and i’m going to visit him this weekend – perhaps i’ll have my first great harvest experience!?!
Leigh says
Hi Kath!
I have been reading your blog for awhile now and am in love with it! I am currently in nursing school and will be interviewing with the UVa health system this weekend. Totally off topic but any cheap hotels near the hospital that you would suggest/ know of?
Kath says
Hmmm – maybe the Holiday Inn off Ridge?
Leigh says
Thanks!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
I used to do all of the money management/ordering/bookeeping for a coffeeshop many years ago. I loved the P&L worksheets! I understand your nerdy excitment… Go Excel! 🙂
I think often of opening up a little place of my own… and hope that should that happen, I am able to remember how to do all of that stuff!

Caitlyn (A Spoonful of Life) says
That looked like an exciting class. I think I would be making the same face as Matt during those crunches, though! LOL!
Have fun number crunchin’!
Lauren says
THat sounds like a great morning class. How cool that the people you are meeting are sharing the same passions as you and Matt.
Have fun with the numbers today. Better you than me! 😉
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
22 degrees is warm?! That’s the coldest I’ve ever been 🙂
Haleigh says
You traveling breakfasts are very inspiring 🙂 I usually eat a granola bar out of laziness.. haha
Val @ Balancing Val says
That’s crazy that you can feel a difference!
I’d think that anything under 25 feels the same but I guess not!
Good for you guys for getting in a workout that early!
Amy at TheSceneFromMe says
Well that’s neat that you are able to exercise so early in the morning with a group. I love group classes better than doing something on my own. Other people are so motivating!
Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes says
Yes! there is SUCH a difference between 0 or 20! It’s amazing how “cold” becomes relative when you live in a climate where anything above 30 is “nice” 😉
love,
cathy b.
P.S.looks like a great workout…I’ve been playin’ with Jillians 6week 6 pack lately and it’s been superb for me!
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
I’d heard a rumor that Great Harvest was returning to Kirkwood, MO (a suburb of St. Louis). The previous store there was the only one of the three in the StL metro area (at that time) with ingredient labels that did not say “corn syrup OR honey.” We avoided those breads, because we all know which option is cheaper. I imagine we’ll patronize this new Great Harvest some (my MIL lives in Kirkwood), but their bread, while delicious, is still quite pricey compared to making bread at home.
Kath says
But it tastes sooo amazing! They said they’ll only be using honey, FYI
Angie says
Yes, but so worth it if you’re no good at baking (like myself).
Michelle says
I thought I remembered a GH in Kirkwood!
LauraB @ foodsnobstl says
There is a Breadsmith, but no GH.
Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says

Emily says

Ann @ Day by Day says
I’m an accounting major! I can’t wait to hear about today’s class. Haha whenever I tell people what I’m studying their eyes do glaze over and they say “Oh…. why?” Lucky for me I actually like it! And 22 degrees being noticeably warmer than the day before? I can’t imagine!
Kristen says
Yay for Kirkwood! I’m assuming they are opening a new store?! I already LOVE GH bread, and it will be great to have another one in the St. Louis area!

Haha HOW do you still have that cereal around?!
Katherine: Unemployed says
are those bowls for one or two people? …because I eat more than one bowl (I just wait to poor the second for a bit)

That cereal mix looks awesome. Those quaker oatmeal squares are CRACK!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
I think it’s really neat that you’re able to reach out to all of the other owners’ towns to bring attention to new GHBs coming to town. Way to promote such delicious and quality bread!
