This, that, and about town at the Winter Wander.
Walkin in a Winter Wanderland: Winter Wander Trail Of Lights
Yesterday was Thomas’s birthday!
We had a super low key day (his request!). He got the Hypervolt 2 that was at the top of his wish list and we took turns using it on our muscles all day long. We walked downtown to get some pies from the Pie Chest – his birthday “cake” of choice! Today is Christmas Tree hunting day with the boys after school!
I have been all about walking lately!
Since it’s not 100 degrees at school pickup, we’ve been walking both ways (even bundled in the mornings!) And in the afternoons, sometimes I slip out for a 20 minute walk around the block just before dinner. Fresh air + good podcast are my happiest place for a little mental break!
Birch and I walked downtown and there were buildings that I hadn’t seen yet! I really need to get out more lol. The downtown landscape has changed so much since the pandemic started – at least 3-4 huge new buildings.
This guy got a special treat at the toy store for getting his 8th? 10th? covid test for having a runny nose at school (a few weeks ago).

Winter Wander Trail Of Lights at the Boar’s Head
The holiday season is here! And we kicked it off a few weeks ago at the Winter Wander Trail of Lights event at the Boar’s Head Resort. I was invited on the press night to bring the fam and take some photos.
From now through January you can purchase tickets to take the half mile loop around the big lake behind the resort and gaze at the beautiful and creative lights! While you wander there are holiday carols on big speakers that create the ideal ambiance. If you check the schedule, you might even see Santa or hear some live music!
Yes, Mazen is wearing shorts, and yes it was freezing!!
These lawn lights were so magical in real life – you have to see them in action to see their patterns!
S’mores by the fire at the end!
Water Bead Fun
Or rather, water bead clean up. The boys have been into these beads lately that start the size of a flax seed and grow to the size of a marble in water. They feel so good on your hands. They are also BOUNCY so when they overflow out of a bowl they go everywhere! Speaking from lots of experience bending over and picking them up….
So fun tho!
Lovevery Block Set
We’ve also had a blast playing with the Lovevery Block Set Birch got for his bday! There are so many things to do with them, and B loves that the storage box converts into a vehicle. I love the soothing rainbow colors.
Real Food
Strawberry Smoothie Bowl with granola + coconut
Speaking Of Smoothies…
Splendid Spoon sent me an updated shipment of their ready-to-drink smoothies, and I had them for breakfasts for a week! Their smoothies are nutritionally sound with a great balance of macronutrients (protein/fiber/fat), plant-based protein, no added sugar, and super food ingredient list. They are high pressure processed so they are good for about a month in your fridge and arrive on dry ice. I gifted a subscription to my friend Ellen who had jaw surgery and needed drinkable meals. They’d be perfect for new moms as well. Get $25 off through my affiliate link here.

Cake Bloom
We have a new cake shop in town – Cake Bloom. They make the most beautiful floral cakes imaginable (and take the most beautiful photos of them)! They also host “scrappy hour” on Wednesdays where if you purchase a bubbly flight you get cake scraps for free! I went with a few girlfriends – highly recommended!
Snuggles
Something else sweet? When Birch asks Mazen to rock him before naptime <3

I was in the car next to you and Birch at that COVID test you mentioned… it didn’t really seem like a time to say hi! I was there to – you guessed it – get my 2 year old tested for a runny nose so she could go back to school. These viruses are really going around!

How long did the winter wander take? Were the smores at the end included in the ticket price?
Kath Younger says
It took us about 20-25 to go through it. S’mores were extra.
