What a fun day! We ended up walking the whole day – including 3 miles out to Harvard Square. The bones in my feet have readjusted to both of the pairs of shoes I wore today and my legs are tired. I’m guessing we did about 7 miles total on foot today?
Larbs and I walked around Northeastern all afternoon. Here she is!
There are hilarious huskies all around campus (the mascot) because each graduating class donations a sculpture. Some of them are very realistic! It was funny to turn a corner and just see another dog sitting there…
Larbs bought me a tea on her “Dog Card” 8)
AND LOOK WHAT I FOUND AT TRADER JOE’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once in my purse it was burning a hole. Despite not being hungry, I just had to try one after so many great reviews. I had two small bites and shared the rest with Larbs and Matt (after we picked him up from work). (I’ve still got a little left for tomorrow.) I definitely thought it was awesome, but need to savor it and enjoy one as a real snack to really be able to give it a full review.
View while walking to dinner –
We had dinner tonight at Henrietta’s Table, a local + organic focused restaurant at Harvard Square. I LOVED Harvard Square. So charming and a town of its own. Since it’s restaurant week here in Boston so we took the opportunity to do a 3-course tasting.
OH MY GOSH the bread was amazing…..the brown one was like a honey-sweet pumpernickel…
My samples of the three kinds –
I ordered a Berry Mojito and shared about 60% of it with Matt and Larbs. It was really good though, with lots of berries floating around! Larbs got a Maple Oat Ale – I had a few sips and the maple aromatics were amazing.
For Course I I ordered the Spinach Salad with Blackberries, Spiced Pecans and Goat Cheese in a Maple-Pecan Dressing. I got the dressing on the side. Everything about the salad was perfect!
I wanted the Grit Cake for my entree, but it was onion-y so I decided to try the Baked Scrod with a side of local greens. The scrod was baked in a Ritz Cracker crust, which was good but not great. I liked the fish overall a lot though. Light and flaky yet still thick with a good texture. The greens were awesome too, mostly because they were not drenched in oil and butter.
Larbs got pork and Matt a sirloin. I tried both, and both were good!
And dessert……..ahhhh. I ordered the S’mores: Homemade marshmallows with a thick chocolatey sauce in a homemade graham cracker tart with toasted marshmallow ice cream!!!! The ice cream was the best part, followed by the chocolatey pile. Mmmmmmmmmmmm! I shared a few bites with my companions 🙂
Larbs got the Strawberry Shortcake. We’re a family that likes to just reach across the table with our forks, so of course I had a bite or two of hers.
Matt and Larbs have had fun going to live jazz at the top of the Prudential Building (“the Pru”) since they arrived. We were thrilled to meet Tina + Mal on the 52nd floor!!!!!! They were both totally awesome – so fun and genuine. I really wish we lived close by, as they are such a fun couple to be around! I can’t wait to hang out with Tina more at tomorrow’s blog dinner! And I bet Mal and the husband would get along well – I missed him tonight 🙁
I had a glass of the Franciscan Chardonnay while we socialized – one of the vineyards we visited on our honeymoon in Sonoma.
I’m exhausted, but I have an appointment to make oatmeal for Matt around 8 tomorrow so I better hit the sack……errr….air mattress!!

Glad you and your sis are having a good time. That restaurant looks fantastic! I wish I’d had more time and more money when I was out there going to school, I would have LOVED that place, it looks right up my alley 🙂
I still vote for stopping at JP Licks though, there is one on Harvard Ave. There’s another one in town too but I don’t remember the street. Or try Cold Mountain Creamery across from Boston College. The mint pattie yogurt or oreo cookie yogurt can’t be beat and it’s homemade daily!
