Hey hey from the doctor’s! Appointment went well. We listened to the heartbeat (thump thump bump bump!), felt a few movements, confirmed that my uterus is in fact growing up and out, asked a few questions and stepped on the scale. [Weight gain is right on track – yay.] My Recipage shirt is my new fav now that I’ve grown into it a bit!
Can’t go to yoga with an empty stomach (excluding the baby of course 😉 )
Plain yogurt, Oh’s, almond butter mash
Yoga was great. Lots of stretching tonight (and less squats!). So much talk about tails… “Tuck your tail…push your tail to the ceiling.” Funny to think of us with tails. And babies inside!
I felt the baby move a handful of times during the class. It’s starting to feel a little less like a light punch/kick and more like he’s moooooving in there. Movements that you’d expect a newborn to make. I wonder what he looks like!?
Dinner compliments of Matt, the Tuesday Chef
It was cooking when I got home at 7
On the menu was a Pecan-Crusted Trout that I bought prepared at Whole Foods today. It was pretty awesome and worth the small premium to get ready-made. Matt pan-fried it in butter + oil to get a perfect crust –
The baked red potatoes were awesome! Baked for 45 minutes at 400* and rubbed in olive oil, salt and rosemary. Topped with plain yogurt + ketchup!
And leftover eggplant with goat cheese
Greens because Matt said the plate looked too bland!
We just watched the second-to-last episode of LOST. Finale…soon!!! I might shed a tear.
Goodnight!
Cait's Plate says
Those potatoes look incredible! Enjoy the end of LOST when you get there 🙂
lynn @ the actor's diet says
can’t believe you’re almost done…i wonder if you will have more of a clue as to what the ending means than i did, since i watched everything live and forgot a lot of stuff…
Sana says
I loveee Matt’s food styling efforts 🙂
Cheryl @ Happy is the new healthy says
Mmmmm, that trout sounds good! Yay for the baby making itself known. They like yoga already…starting young is key. 🙂

So much fun to watch a baby grow. Love the trout. It looks amazing!
Maria says
Wow Kath, you don’t even look preg in that photo! The trout and potatoes look amazing, YUM. Might have to pick some up at WF!
Catalina @ Cake with Love says
I am so happy and jealous for the people that can workout after they ate, if I eat anything, even a snack 2 hours before I workout its like I have steel in my stomach so uncomfortable!! I like your shirt, it is very cute, and I am very happy that the appointment went well and you and the baby are fine!
KathEats says
My yoga class isn’t too much of a workout 🙂 I can’t do anything too bouncy after eating
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Hahaha I love the “greens” added to dinner. ahhh and that totally freaks me out to think of something moving around inside of me! Haha good thing I’m not planning on having children soon, hopefully I’d get over that.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Baby thumps are so amazing! There are a handful of things I would want to experience one more time with my babies and that is definitely one of them. I’m so glad things are going well! Dinner looks perfect! Have a great night Kath!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Dinner looks wonderful! Nice food styling Matt! 🙂

It’s so cute that he thinks about your photos when plating! And I love the shirt 🙂
Kelsi says
Umm…a Moose Drool mug!? I’m a new follower, so you may photograph it all the time, but that is awesome! One of my favorite Montana treats. 🙂
KathEats says
Mine too! And welcome!
Katie @ Creature of Habit says
That’s cute that Matt watches out for the presentation.
Love the potatoes and eggplant! Those both just went on tomorrow’s dinner menu.
Erin says
Have you gotten a 4D ultrasound? It is amazing!!
Elle @ nutritionella says
Sometimes I think my fiancé puts more thought into plating than I do. 🙂 Love that he’s not the only blogger’s significant other that gets into it!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
The Pecan-Crusted Trout sounds great…I bet it seared up beautifully in the butter. My uncle used to trout fish where I grew up in Minnesota and I used to eat my fair share! Haven’t had trout in about…20 years though. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
RunEatRepeat says
You will def shed a tear. I think that was the LAST time I cried actually…
Mama Pea says
Oh my gosh, I’m so excited for you to watch the LOST finale! I remember the shock and awe like it was yesterday.
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
What a nice touch of green! 😉
Amy says
I can’t believe your pregnancy is half over and you don’t look pregnant yet! That’s crazy! Lucky you 🙂
Khushboo says
There’s an inner food blogger in Matt ;)!
jojo says

I’m glad your appointment went well 🙂 It’s always exciting to hear the heart beat.. I remember I got excited everytime! It confirmed that there was a life inside me, I mean, how neat is that!?
Zoe says
Delighted th Drs went well – always so reassuring. Pecan crusted trout sounds fantastic. One to add to the list

Love an “Original Content” shirt on a pregnant lady.
Kayla says
Dinner looked delicious and I love that touch of green sprig that Matt added hahah
Simply Life says
yay! so glad to hear the pregnancy is going well!!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
My mother always plated our dinner with ‘a touch of green’. She hated an all white meal!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Original content…intended for other applications, specifically the location of print?
janet says
I was going to ask this same question! =) I assumed it referred to, ahem, you being a natural woman (no implants).
(Actually, I don’t really get what else it would refer to? Unless there is a blog link or photo or something on the back?) Now I am confused.
Ah! Details, Kath! Details!
KathEats says
Oh it’s for Recipage! But I think it just means that the person inside of the shirt produces original content. Nothing obscene!
janet says
Oh! I thought it was funny as a notice re larger chested women (stereotypical assumptions they might be fake or whatever).
I think I need to check out recipage (feel totally clueless!) I thought it was just a word bloggers said (to mean your ‘recipe page’). I didn’t know it was an actual thing!
I’m a dork =)
KathEats says
Trust me, if I’m going to get any procedure on my top it would be a major reduction!
jane says
have you ever thought about having a reduction? i want one myself but wonder if it effects breastfeeding? I have wanted to ask you before but thought it might be too personal. now that you brought it up I just had to ask! and if it is too personal-then no response needed 😉
KathEats says
I’ve thought about it, but when my weight is under control, they seem to be too. I don’t think i’d go through the pain and expense of surgery. But it sure would be nice if I could just snap my fingers..
Shae says
So I had a breast reduction and it is a major surgery. Lots of pain and recovery time with major scarring. But when your chest is absolutely impeding most aspects of your life and well-being…well then it is time to do something about it. I haven’t had a baby yet but my doctor told me that I probably won’t be able to breast feed. Some people are able to, though. It was worth it when I did it, it has changed my life.
Stef says
Hi Kath,
I read this great blog post the other day during some of my doula research and wanted to share. When you mentioned squats I was reminded of it. (Keep squatting, even if you hate it! It is soooo good for your pelvic floor muscles!)

Take care!
Stef
KathEats says
Thanks, I’ll check it out
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
It must be such an amazing feeling to feel the baby kick. I cannot wait to experience that someday 🙂 I love roasting potatoes. They are so yummy!
Björg says
Yay For fish 🙂
Jen says
I need to grill zucchini like yours, I usually cut it into small pieces but the long method looks more “meaty” 🙂
How are you finding the end of Lost? I’ve heard viewers didn’t like the last couple of seasons as much and it got strange?
KathEats says
The first 3 seasons were the golden years, but I’m still loving this twisted story
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
So nice to have dinner ready when you get home! Cool to hear the baby’s heartbeat, too.
jassy @ Healthy Egg says
yummy dinner…the baby’s doing yoga, too 🙂
Jasper Naomi {crunchylittlebites} says
Please share your thoughts on the last episode of LOST when you get there…I bawled my eyes out during the last 45 minutes of the finale
KathEats says
I’m SO NERVOUS!
Jasper Naomi {crunchylittlebites} says
you’re so cute. Rest assured, you’ll have loved ones to help you through, I just crawled into bed and cried more, pah ha. sad, really
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
Kath, I’m curious to see how you personally interpret the end because even though my friends and I all watch the same show, we all had our own interpretation of what the ending meant.
KathEats says
I will figure out a way to talk about it without spoiling!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
That trout looks amazing!
Steph says
You are so super cute and glowing! Your baby bump is going to perfect! Congratulations! I had trout at a restaurant a few weeks ago and your preparation is similar, it was so so good. I should try to buy some and make it at home.
Ali G. says
Glad to hear your Dr. appt went well! It’s always the best feeling going and being able to hear or see the heartbeat. Curious, what were the BPM? The old wives tale said usually boys are on the lower side.
KathEats says
She didn’t say..
Hillary says
I’m interested to hear what you think of the finale! If we’re being honest, I was pretty disappointed with it. It took me some time to get on board with the general idea of it, but two years later, I still don’t know if I liked it all that much.
Angel7 says
Love the shirt, Kath!

Lorin says
Wow, I can’t believe you are almost to the end. I have to say I didn’t enjoy the finale, as it was slightly cliche, but some people loved it; so to each their own!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Glad to hear the appt went well 🙂 Ready made is a premium but sometimes, you just have to splurge!! Looks yummy!!
Andrea @FrSeed2Stomach says
One of my yoga teachers gives the BEST prompt for the tucking of the tailbone – ELVIS ASANA! I’ve also heard it referred to as ‘zipping up’ the front of the pelvis like you zip up your pants. It’s crazy how changing the orientation of your pelvis can have such strong ripple effects through the rest of your body, isn’t it!? I can’t imagine the feeling of having a baby moving around in there during yoga. So cool!
KathEats says
Cute. I am so bad at tucking mine in!
Sara says
random question kath: i often see recipes calling to add both butter and olive oil in pan at same time, do you know why? do they work differently? or is the butter just for flavor? i’m trying to watch my fats (and i also keep kosher, so putting dairy ie.butter in with meat is a no-no, although ok with fish) so just wondering what they adds to the dish?
KathEats says
It’s to raise the smoke point of the butter (which burns fast) while keeping that buttery flavor. So you can just use the oil if you don’t care too much about butter!
jen says
Hey Kath, i was reading thinking about your yoga class and wanted to ask a few questions. i’m getting ready to begin teaching prenatal at my studio. if you were home in time for dinner what time did class begin? do you find you have a lot of first time moms or a mix? do you guys cover any meditation? thanks for any insight you might have.
jen – charlotte, nc
KathEats says
Hey Jen,
It’s from 5:30 – 6:45. We start with 15-20 minutes of “how are you feeling this week” where our instructor goes around and gives advice (she is also a doula) and things. Then we do 45 minutes of yoga and then end with 10 minutes of “rest” at the end. Love it! It’s at the big gym in town so there’s no trouble finding moms.
