Mazen asked me recently if he could make a video to put online so he could “become famous.” He watches a few channels where the kid hosts do all kinds of videos – from toy unboxings to taste testing candy to science projects. We talked about a few concepts he could do for a video, and taste testing and cooking videos were at the top of the list. (Well, actually, “Watching me play a video game” was at the top top of the list but I vetoed that one in favor of something more creative.)
So, you might be seeing a few more videos pop up on here (and I’ll try to keep them on the topic of food!) Note: Wait for the British accent when he says “Cheddar” :
The two cheeses he tried were Castello Havarti Dill (which is my current favorite cheese!) and Kerrygold’s Kilaree Cheddar. The Havarti is incredibly creamy and soft, almost melts in your mouth, and is bursting with dill flavor. The cheddar is aged 15 months and quite stinky – in a good way! It reminded me of a Swiss or Parmesan. I love that it’s from grass-fed cows. I love them both, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the Havarti, because it reminds me of a pickle!!

Oh man, my five year old son also wants to start a Youtube channel, and wouldn’t you know it, playing video games was also his top choice. (Unboxing toys was a close second). This is a really cute idea and I might just have to see if he would be game to try this instead!

My husband is 59 and still does that.

Haha! I can give him a napkin and place it in his lap and he still does it! Or wipes his face on his sleeve. Gah!

You know there are people who make a living by showing themselves play video games on youtube. There was a woman on Survivor a couple you years ago who was a video gamer. My son actually watched it with me, but I think she was voted out first (?). I love the way Mazen uses his shirt as a napkin after he eats the Havarti. My son is 17 and he still does that. Ahhhhh!
KathEats says
Haha yes!! There’s a boy that Mazen loves who is probably 8-10 who will be one of those famous guys one day : )

I’m a little behind on blog reading so just saw this today. The look he gives you when he makes it clear he knows what a pickle is was amazing. Just made my day. He needs to make regular appearances so we can all support his new career being famous.

I just love this video idea!!! I have a niece and nephew so having someone their age to give food tips and reviews is excellent. I live in NC (Charlotte) and have been following your blog since I went on this second career RD path. I take my exam on FRIDAY!!! So, sort of following in your footsteps.
Please tell Mazen to continue to give us food reviews. Would be wonderful too if you’re able to show brands!!! Our own little future famous taste-tester!!

Good luck!!!!
