There were lots of the above at the market today!
RAW!
This lion was out to get us
He’s trying to paw the camera!
Bad kitty kitty
WOOF
The wind in my face on a crisp morning was a miracle.
And the veggies were fun, as always
My shirt got attention 😉
I’ve started making an actual grocery list for the market and keeping a tally of what we spend. It helps a lot!
[By the way, we always spell spinach as "spinage" in this house because that’s how we pronounced it!]
We were flexible and came home with no mushrooms and chicken instead of "sausage or beef."
Once we were home and relaxed a bit, we went back out for a bike ride. We took Andrew down to Karen’s new neighborhood – which involved plenty of hills!
Then, around 12:30, we feasted
I had a hodge podge salad of:
- Spinach
- Leftover pesto pasta
- Tomato
- Cantaloupe
- Olive oil, sea salt
- And honey
With a side of Tomato Herb from GH – honey was a great addition!
We taught Andrew to eat kiwi skin.
He proclaimed it his newest favorite fruit
I made a strategic list of the beers I really want to try so I don’t waste my …energy… on styles I don’t care for. There are 150 craft brews and I get 30 2-ounce tastes. That’s 5 beer’s worth – way too much for me! I’m going to sip instead of drink and I’m not afraid to pour out everything but the pumpkin beers! Lastly, I’m hoping to blog hard. Stopping to photograph and think about each beer will help me slow down and focus. I do not need another 2-day hangover!
Top Of The Hops, here we come!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
I started eating kiwi skins after reading your blog 🙂 I’ve never looked back 😛

I have never tried a kiwi with its skin! I assumed it was too thick/tough…but apparently not. 🙂 That kitty is so cute! I want one…but I think my dog would have a differing opinion of that. 😉
Laura @ Blogging Over Thyme says
Fun day! I love that onions shirt, that’s hilarious. Where is that from? I definitely have kiwi with the skin now–but that’s probably more out of laziness than taste preference 🙂
Jean@RoastedRootsandPumpkinSpice says
I love the skin of the kiwi. My friends think I’m nuts for eating it though. It’s the best part!
hippierunner says
Awesome shirt! Jeff Lewis is hilarious.

Cute shirt!!
You are so lucky to have so many options at your farmers market. I can’t go with a list, because I never know what will be there, but I do have my garden, with tons of stuff too.

That shirt, is in fact, full of awesome.
Still not sure I can jump on the kiwi skin bandwagon though. My friend keeps telling me it’s the only way to be, but every time I consider trying it, I get the willies and peel them instead!
lynn (The Actors Diet) says

LOLing at the onion shirt (I LOVE onions!!) and at the “spinage.” My husband and I are always calling things different names or using different pronunciations.

ooh I just bought kiwis – I should really give the skins a try!
Amy says
Have you had Longtrail Blackbeary (yes, that’s how it’s spelled) Wheat? You should give it a whirl.
Stacey says
Have fun! I’ve never eaten the skin of the kiwi…the thought of it kind of freaks me out. I hear it’s pretty common for people to do that though! I guess I need to open my mind a bit more to the idea 😀
Kori says
The kitty is absolutely adorable! As is the dog. 😉 My sister and I were planning to walk to our Farmer’s Market, but the weather had other plans. Better luck next weekend. Have a great day, and enjoy the beer tasting!
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Kiwi skins are delicious. I like to tell people that it’s like eating a peach, and then they aren’t quite as weirded out by eating fuzz.
I love hodge podge salads filled with flavor. Yours looks delish! 😀
Shannon (The Daily Balance) says
i thought this post was going to be about barbara kingsolver’s animal, vegetable, miracle – have you read it? GREAT read — I’ll send you mine if you wanna read it – it’s worth spreading the love! 😉

Seglare says
I loved the pictures of the cat and dog (and glad I’m not the only one taking pictures of random animals I meet in town :D)).
Your onion shirt is great, too! I do eat onions if someone cooks them for me, but I HATE raw onions and the smell of any onions (raw or fried), which is why I rarely use them myself.
Krystina says
Have fun tonight. 😀
Kelsey @ CleanTeenKelsey says
Haha! I love the animal pictures. So cute. The farmers’ market produce looks wonderful and the salad looks awesome. 🙂 Love the onion shirt! If I eat onions they HAVE to be cooked.
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I bet you get a lot of “you eat the skin?!” comments whenever you post a kiwi on the blog. 😛 I always have to defend the poor little fuzzy fruit! The skin makes it 10x better!

Ella says
hey Kath! You always take the cutest photos of cats and dogs… do you think you guys will ever get one?
Ashley says
Love this post!! I’m not a fan of that Dogfish Pumpkin beer. I didn’t think it was near pumpkiny enough, especially with the high price tag for 4 beers. What a fun night!! How dare you bring up Big Daddys!!! I miss it so much 😉 Their BBburger + fries WERE to.die.for. 🙂 xo
Jesna says
I cannot believe you will not eat onions! I have to say, as an adult, that there is not any one thing I will NEVER eat. Come on!

If you could taste them in your breath for 48 hours, you wouldn’t eat them either

I’m still squeamish about kiwi skins. Never tried eating them before. C’mon, it’s FUZZY.
