We set the alarm for 6:26 this morning to get up and run with Matt before he had to go to work. It was a glorious run along the Charles – a different direction this time. My how much I LOVE running along water. My pace has slowed considerably since the spring when I was running more frequently and hitting around an 8:45-9 minute mile to closer to 9:30-10. My double runs with Matt helped me pick it up a bit and I finally hit 8:45 on mile 4 today. We did 4.5 total. My surgery foot of 4 years ago is giving me some stiffness troubles though, so I thing I’m going to back off this week and save energy for the BlogHer Unofficial 5K on Friday morning!
[Just to clarify for future references, I’ll call Larbs’ Matt Matt A. and my Matt either just Matt or Kanz]
After our run I had a special request for oatmeal. Matt A. is a big fan!
I made a whipped banana base with cinnamon and vanilla and topped it with some crumbled ProBar from home and that amazing honey roasted PB!

Here’s a post I’ve been wanting to write for ages over on Gather. It’s about not fearing food: Enjoy Every Opportunity To Eat!

Our flight leaves at 12:15, so we’re headed to the airport in just a few. We’ve got to pass through Detroit again – blah – so we won’t be home until dinnertime tonight. Matt just packed up a fun lunch for us with leftover sandwich ingredients, so that’ll be fun!

If you get hungry while you’re in the Detroit Airport, check out PB & J. I’m a frequent traveler, and this is by far my favorite airport place to get food. My sandwich of choice: almond butter and banana. No joke!!

The oatmeal looks great. Too bad for the last day of vaca. I know that’s always sad, but enjoy dinner tonight and pretend like its still vaca. It’s what we always do!

LOVED your Gather post! I’m only just starting to enjoy restaurants again after learning to be scared of them during my weight loss. I now know that the experience itself is often more rewarding than the few extra calories I save by going the safe/boring route.

I like the concept of your Gather article. I’ve found that as long as I treat restaurants as a “fun” thing to do, rather than an excuse not to cook dinner that night, I really enjoy the experience.
Since I gave up sugar and gluten grains, I now can fully enjoy food, effortlessly stop when I’ve had enough, and no longer feel that “addict-like pull” towards my favorite dishes, especially desserts!

That PB looks sooo good!

Your vacation looks like it was so fun – I can’t get over the desserts you had last night! That oreo cake….oh wow!
The breakfast oats this morning don’t look too bad either 😉 Running by water is the best – I’m totally spoiled living in Minnesota for that!
Deva says
Your breakfast looks so yummy! I hope your flight back is uneventful and that you are able to rest on the plane if needed 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
The worst part of a vacation is always the trip home. Hope you have a good flight and everything goes well!

Hey! First time poster, but I read your blog a lot! I love love love oatmeal (which is how I found your blog) and per usual your morning meal looks soooo delicious! I am trying to learn to cook, but it’s been a struggle. Thanks for all your inspiring posts! I am a very healthy eater and work out daily (probably about as much as you do) but am terrible at cooking anything edible. Hopefully your blog will help me get better so my husband can finally stop lying about how good my food tastes. Thank you for your help along the way!

Your previous post cracked me up because the ferry you are riding is what I use for my commute everyday since I live in Charlestown. I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn’t somewhere in the back of that photo. 🙂 It’s too bad it doesn’t look like you had a chance to check out the restaurants here because we have some great eats. Tangerino is quite yummy for Moroccan as is Figs for Pizza and The Navy Yard Bistro for wine.
