8 hours of sleep and a lazy Sunday morning going on here. And the heat still turned off from yesterday’s warmth! I woke up to a chilly 59 degrees in the house.
Something this can’t fix:
I wanted breakfast to involve a smoothie and a muffin. But it was too cold for smoothies so I settled on yogurt instead. Voskos now makes YoGreek, and they sent me a few to try out. What I love: the side of granola! It was good granola too. Very vanilla. I sampled the honey flavor in today’s bowl and liked it a lot. Although I wish these came in plain flavor because I just prefer plain yogurt.
Paired with banana, chia seeds, Faith’s muffin and sunflower butter.
Matt and I are planning some kind of biking today since I have huge blisters on both pinky toes from 6 miles of walking in crappy shoes 🙁 Hoping it’s warmer outside than it is in here!
Christie {Nourishing Eats} says
I was just thinking the same thing. We spent the (very windy) day in Williamsburg yesterday and it was so lovely. Today, it is freezing and my little toes don’t know what to do!! Hope your feet feel better. I’m headed to a vinyasa workshop with my fav teacher – she’ll take care of me 😀
Amanda (The Nutritionist Reviews) says
59 is cold! I love Voskos yogurt. I must try that YoGreek.
Lauren at KeepItSweet says
That is one cold house!
Stacey (The Home-Cooked Vegan) says
Brrrr! Your morning sounds a bit like mine! I’m trying not to turn the heat on, and a smoothie was my first pick to but I’m kinda rethinking that one 😉
Hope you have a good day!
Love that the yogurt comes with granola on the side, that’s so convenient!
Stacie @ Imperfectly Healthy says
We had a small heat wave in New York on Friday and it got up to 67! Of course, that only lasted a day and now it’s cold again — and really windy! It was still nice to get a glimpse of spring though.
Jil @ Big City, Lil' Kitchen says
The wind is crazy here – apparently it was hurricane force in some areas!! It was a lovely 60+ degrees just a few days ago but we’re back to 18 degree weather. Love the idea of having the yogurt and granola packed together like that – very easy for packing!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
Hope it warms up for you! Enjoy your Sunday 🙂
Caitlyn (A Spoonful of Life) says
I have only ever had plain yogurt and lemon yogurt. My favorite is the plain as well, because I can jazz it up how I like. I should try new flavors, though, just to expand my horizons!
Heather says
Hopefully it will warm up – at least it looks like the sun is out!
Vanilla yogurt is my favorite – I love vanilla everything.
Enjoy your bike ride!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
We woke up to it being 55 without the heat! Wish we didn’t have to turn it back on either.
Paige @Running Around Normal says
59 degrees?!?! Brrr!!
That yogurt looks so cute! Love the granola side car 🙂
Maria @ The Fitted Apron says
Have fun on your bike ride. It’ a rainy day here in Indy 🙁 Makes for a nice lazy day 🙂
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
Have fun today! 😀
Amanda (Eating Up) says
A new kind of yogurt? How exciting!
Natalia - a side of simple says
I prefer plain yogurt, too. I’m not too big on the flavored ones. I think it gives you more room for mix-ins (which, obviously I’m ALL about!).
Krystina (Organically Me) says
I absolutely love the backdrop you’re using. Where did you get it?
KathEats says
Michale’s scrapbook paper 🙂
Krystina (Organically Me) says
Fabulous!Thank you. 🙂
Ellie @ The Mommyist says
I think it might be time for me to brew a pot of coffee!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Yesterday was such a tease! It felt incredible and now it is gray, overcast and a little chilly for my liking. I hope your toes feel better soon! Have fun on your ride!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
It’s turned cold here too – no fun at all.
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I want to try that yogurt! It’s like a healthier kind of Yo Crunch… the kind that comes with candy or Oreos to mix in 🙂
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I haven’t seen that kind of yogurt yet! Totally agree on the plain flavor – I prefer to add my own. Wouldn’t it be amazing if someone made one with PB sauce on the side?!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
I prefer plain yogurt, too! Then if I need it on something savory, I have it. Vanilla and berry don’t taste good on chili. 😆
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
That yogurt/granola pack is really cute!
We almost turned the heat off a few days ago but I’m glad we didn’t — it is back to being super cold and we’re expecting snow tonight 🙁
Alaina says
I miss the warm weather we had! It was in the 60s on Friday and then last night there were flurries! What I wouldn’t give for it to be spring already. Where can I live where it’s spring, summer, fall, then spring again? 😛
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
That reminds me of when my furnace broke last week!! It was awful:( The sun is beauuutiful today! Enjoy your bike riding girl!
Kathleen @ KatsHealthCorner says
I love your mug!!!! 😀
Have fun biking! 😀
Kristen, Sweetly says
I thought coffee could fix everything! :-p. Your breakfast looks delicious this morning. I’m in need of a little healthy comfort. I suppose a bowl of yogurt will simply have to wait until I get home.

I hear you on the blisters. My sneakers are old and my almost 4 mile walk yesterday gave me blisters. I need to upgrade my sneakers – it’s been a long time.
Maryann (The Balanced Bean) says
I have seen that yogurt around and have been tempted to try it! I havent yet though because I prefer plain as well 🙂
Melomeals: Vegan for $3.33 a Day says
Have fun biking!
Carla @ Will Run for Health says
I love chia seeds and can tell a big difference when I have them with breakfast, however I can’t seem to get them down raw. I like them when they are mixed into a smoothie or used for baking. I’m guessing like lots of food, they are more nutritious when eaten raw??
KathEats says
I don’t think their nutritional value would change all that much from raw to in a smoothie or soaked
Amber K says
It’s never too cold for a smoothie 😉
Ashley says
Voskos is my favorite Greek yogurt!! I especially love the vanilla/honey + 2% plain. mmm Have fun biking!!
Amy at TheSceneFromMe says
Brr, I would have on my electric blanket while sleeping when it was that chilly. We had sleet this morning. A dreary day. So…I’m baking treats!

Breakfast looks tasty, as always! 🙂
Poor toes 🙁
Emily @ Savory and Savage says
When I have blisters I find that the gel-pad type band aids work best. I dab a bit of neosporin on the pad then leave the band aid on for 2-3 days straight – works every time.
Jillian Bean says
Just had to say thank you-totally unrelated to this post-well, maybe a little related with the blister part..;P Read your advice about running a half marathon-time for getting up and eating before and all that. Helped me figure out timing for my first half marathon:) Thanks!
KathEats says
Glad 🙂
Namaste Gurl says
Other way around for me- the rain and bleak cold just came to a halt, so I got to enjoy the outdoors and sun today! Hope you stay warm 🙂
Annette @ enjoyyourhealthylife says
I love Greek yogurt- that kind does look fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
Steph says
I have a weird question regarding chia seeds. When you first started eating them, did they make your stomach hurt? I like them, but they don’t seem to like me back.
KathEats says
I didn’t notice anything different. Maybe go a little easier at first? They do gel and maybe it’s just an increase in soluble fiber?
Christin@purplebirdblog says
I miss Greek yogurt… silly dairy-sensitive tummy!
Hannah says
I’d happily accept all the flavoured greek yoghurts in America so that you could have just the plain, as I haven’t found a single greek yoghurt comparable to fage/oikos/voskos here in Australia.
