Not me, the baby! Judging from his little wiggles in there, he liked it!
Sparkling Apple Cider: just like champagne on a Saturday night (plus too much sugar and minus just a wee bit of fun)
Afternoon projects. What could this be!?
Followed by Saturday night relaxed dinner. I was so glad to come home today and know we didn’t have anywhere to be but the porch.
For dinner we made shrimp n grits. Very similar to this memorable recipe!
The grits were perfectly buttery thanks to 2% milk and of course butter. Topped with sauteed shrimp and local bacon, snap peas, tomatoes and bell pepper.
After dinner, we had a good hour of sunshine left and went for a glorious hour-long walk. With the hills here in Cville, this was no stroll! I bet we covered close to 5 miles today between the market walking this AM and tonight’s.
There was only one thing on my mind when we returned. I am so over ice cream – bring me all the popsicles in the world!

As beautiful as your sharp photography always is, that small snap of you in the sunset is easily one of the best of you +baby. Beautiful!

Love that you’ve been walking so much for exercise, I live in a big city and its the only way to get around, and not having to worry about bursting major sweat in the gym is a plus! Also, yum to shrimp! I’m making a shrimp bisque today for dinner, and double gasp…no icecream?? I can’t give it up!

Your bump is adorable, Kath. Congratulations! Being pregnant is the best. So exciting. Plus, everyone is especially friendly and kind to you 🙂

I’ve never tried grits…I have no idea why but for some reason they scare me! I need to get over it quick cause those looks delicious. As do those popsicles! I’ve never been a big popsicle fan but your blog has got me craving some nice fruity ones lately!

That sparkling apple cider sounds so good although I think I’d have to dilute it with sparkling water to tame down the sweetness!

We are going to the grocery store tomorrow, and you inspired me to purchase a bottle of sparkling apple cider 🙂

Hi Kath, I am planning an east coast beach getaway vacation for my husband and I. It seems that you have traveled throughout the region. Do you have any suggestions? We are planning to drive from our home in VT. Have you tried VA beach? Thank you! Have a great day!
KathEats says
I haven’t been to va beach before, but I think it’s pretty wild/ crowded. I’d tell you to go a little farther and go to the Outer Banks. Around Nags Head/ Kitty Hawk… And climb Jockeys Ridge!

I’ve been making my own “cocktails” with sparkling “teazer” drinks (sparkling grape or apple-juice) – just a dash, topped with soda water. For me, I often go alcohol free because of early morning studying, but it’s always fun to have something sparkling in a champagne glass!
Kat @ Balance & Spice says
I’ve been making “cocktails” with a dash of sparkling juice and soda water. I find the soda water takes out the cloying sweetness, but still looks pretty in a champagne glass! Of course, my lack of alcohol is for early morning studying, not pregnancy, but it’s still fun to drink from a flute. 😉

My husband and I don’t drink at all so we often have that stuff on special occasions.
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Without the shrimp and bacon…that dinner sounds great!
