I’m planning to get in bed early tonight because:
1) Daylight saving time is just around the corner AND I have to be on Middle Earth Time in 7 days so I’m pushing my bedtime up some
and
2) I’ve got a day of yoga tomorrow!
I realized this afternoon when I went to pick up my packet that I haven’t mentioned that Kelsey and I are going to Yoga Jam tomorrow! It’s an all-day yoga workshop for newbies (and advanced yogis too) to get to know all the different yoga studios in Charlotte. I’m still planning to keep my practice at home, but we thought it would be a fun adventure. Here’s my bag of goodies, which included a few samples and coupons for free classes!
While I was out, I got them all cut!!! Short and sweet.
I came home to a lovely bowl of oatmeal (why did I write that!?) yogurt with strawberries and AgavePlus granola along with some H2H. ‘Bout half a cup each of yogurt, strawberries and cereal. My favorite snack!
I got a ton of stuff done today! I’m very please that my to-do list is clear for the next 2 days.
My snack held me over for over 3 hours. We had a few ideas for dinner tonight but decided to make it an “Eat What You Want” affair. Fridays are the best nights to do those.
I decided for my grains I wanted a beer and we split this guy that’s been in our fridge for ages
I liked the beer, but it doesn’t even compare to Cottonwood Pumpkin.
It was one of those nights when I wanted everything and nothing for dinner. I decided rather than creating a balanced meal I’d just have what I wanted that was easy to make: sweet potato and kale chips.
I had half a huge guy with some brown sugar + butter –
And a nice pile of chips with ketchup
And a few Food Should Taste Good SP chips to round it out. Because they’re so good 🙂
I feel like (maybe for nutrition, maybe for fullness and maybe for the blog) I always have to have so many food groups at meals, but sometimes I just want to eat like “normal” people and pick things on a whim. I’m going to try to do that more – it’s fun!
I’ll be back in the AM before I leave for yoga.
Good early night!

You mean, there’s such a thing as “normal people”? Fancy that!
K says
Enjoy your day of yoga tomorrow! Cute hair cut 🙂
Juli (Peanut Butter and Juli) says
I can’t wait to hear about your day tomorrow! Sounds awesome.
Bizarre- but I had a sweet potato and kale for dinner too!
Heather says
Kath, do you have a yoga mat? I’m looking for a good one, preferrably under $30, and have no idea what to look for. Any suggestions?
Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) says
I need to try making those kale chips!
Becky says
Kale Chips are AMAZING!!! I didn’t think I would like them so I just bought a small bunch and I had to go back the next day to buy this HUGE bag. I have had them everyday now:)…thats all I had for lunch the other day because they make me so crazy full…I had about 4 cups of them…after they were cooked! Thanks for introducing me to Kale Kath!!! My mom also loves them but I was reading about Kale and she is on anti-coagulants so it isn’t recommended for her since they are high in Vitamin K 🙁 Poor mom…
Oh She Glows says
Have a great day of yoga!
Maggie says
Oh my gosh have fun at your yoga! That sounds awesome. I have yoga all weekend this weekend – my first yoga teacher training! I’m doing the same program that Polly did and I’m so excited 🙂
Sharon says
Love the eats!
Meg says
Love the hair! Yeah for a yummy sweet potato!
Molly says
Haha, I wonder if I’m making kale chips wrong? When I made them, they were all burnt-tasty and ashy. Ew.
Lindsay says
Kath,
I live in Seattle, and I hadn’t realized that you had many readers out here until I was sitting in my Legal Theory class reading your blog (shhhh don’t tell), and my classmate leaned over and said “I read her too!” Love the blog!

“…when I wanted everything and nothing for dinner.” That was my entire day today. I could never decide what I wanted. So I just ate a little bit of everything! Going with what you actually want though IS fun. I had a sweet potato today too. That’s often one of my go-to meals and it never fails to satisfy and be completely delicious. Mmmm sweet potato.
Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
I love that you just ate what you wanted for dinner. Like you said, “normal” people don’t ask, “BUT is there enough protein?” or “Did I get my veggies in today?”
You still wound up with a pretty healthy spread!
Mara @ What's For Dinner? says
Great haircut!!
I’ve found that I’ve tried to make much more balanced and visually appealing meals since I’ve started blogging…and I think I’m better off for it!
criticchicks says
bet you’ll wind up doing a yoga teacher course. my roommate had a similar journey some years ago!
Lisa says
Cute haircut! Very spring.
Hallie says
Molly, you probably cooked them too long. I haven’t mastered the kale chips yet, so I get burnt air.
I like the “eat what you crave” idea and as long as over the course of a day, or even a few days, you get everything you need, it’s all good!!
Organic Girl aka Ashley H says
oh I am so jealous about your day of yoga tomorrow so much fun!! (PS I love aveda products!!)
I also wanted to let you know (hope this doesnt sound stalkerish) you look amazing in that picture! You inspire me to keep truckin!
Mara says
Good for you for eating what you ‘wanted!’ But, why not just have the whole beer then – instead of just half? 😉
Leah says
That colour looks great on you Kath!!!
Have fun at your day of Yoga tomorrow… sounds like fun!
Lara says
I like your approach with dinner last night. We all need nights like that and you are always SO balanced that it’s good you ate what you want (and you still ate so well!). Have fun at the yoga retreat!
Kath says
Thanks for the nice comments guys 😉
Heather ,
I don’t have a mat! Kelsey is borrowing one for me.
Becky ,
So glad to hear another convert!
Molly ,
Sounds like you overcooked them. Try turning down the oven to 350* or even lower. They will get a tiny bit burnt, but you can control that.
Lindsay ,
OMG – what are the chances!! I have over 5,000 readers a day now. Crazy!
Mara ,
Because we only had one and he wanted to try it too. I got more like 65%.

I am extremely jealous of your yoga day! That sounds like so much fun!! Also, I’ve been hearing about Kale chips for awhile and I cannot wait to try some. I also love ketchup so I’m sure that would be my condiment of choice. Can’t wait to read about your yogi adventures later-Lisa D.
Courtney says
So jealous of the whole day of yoga and getting to try out all the different studios! That’s awesome. I love my studio, but there are several new ones opening up in town and I would love the opportunity to try them! I wish they’d do something like that here.
Nicole says
Mmmm, that’s my kind of dinner!
I am so excited for one more hour of daylight, hooooray!
Jenn (eating bender) says
YES! I am so with you on the “eating what you want” state of mind. I have to admit that I’ve spent far too many meals agonizing over whether or not my plate looks balanced enough for a picture for the blog. It’s no way to be and I’m glad you ate what you craved – it looks delicious!
Bev says
Love the hair and the sweet potato……My favorite
Jess says
The day of yoga sounds fun.
I like having random dinners like this.
