I love posts when bloggers talk about the things they are currently loving. Here are more of mine!
HGTV Magazine. This might even beat out Better Homes & Gardens! I used to be into all of the healthy women’s magazines, but I have converted to a home obsession. HGTV really hit it home with this one. It’s the perfect blend of affordable home goods, inspiring rooms and practical tips. It’s one of those where you squeal when you find it in the mailbox. I highly recommend it!
These salad toppers. I found them both at Homegoods (best store ever!) I am already on my second bottle of Vanilla-Fig balsamic and the Meyer Lemon oil spritzer is so convenient and tasty. I think I bought the last of them at my Homegoods, so I might have to look elsewhere. Luckily Amazon sells it by the case!! {Also by the bottle but the shipping is out of control.} Check Homegoods!
Herbal Essences classic is back!! This scent will take you straight back to middle school. Why the heck did Herbal Essences think going all teeny bopper with its line was a good idea? I have missed it for years. Remember the pink one? I hope that is back too. I was only able to find the conditioner because the shampoo was sold out already!
Speaking of good smells, Method’s Tomato Vine is pretty awesome! Our Target is a bit of a haul to drive to and I drove myself up there as soon as I found out they had it. Tomato vines remind me of my dad in the summer when I was little. And playing in the yard. And while this is a bit more herbal than a simple tomato plant, it’s still quite yummy to smell.
The Livewell 360 Accel bag from OpenSky. I showcased the CORE bag a few years ago and my friend Sheila at Livewell recently send me the Accel bag as “the ultimate diaper bag.” A diaper bag it is not, but it happens to be perfect for baby use. The pockets are ideal for my needs right now, including the padded divider pocket that separates toys from personal items (and is great for a DSLR camera too!) The strap is the perfect altitude for my shoulder while also carrying a baby – it doesn’t fall off. You might want to use this bag as a petite gym bag, a sporty purse, a carry on for an airplane, a computer bag (a laptop fits in the padded back pocket where I store diapers), but I love it as a diaper bag.
Matt and I are deep into Mad Men and loving it! We started it just before M was born and had to put things on hold when life got complicated. But now that M goes to bed and stays in bed we watch an episode every night for parent time. Peggy is my favorite character, but I have a crush on Don too. Also on the TV front – loved Nashville and LOVED watching Survivor again! And So You Think You Can Dance is back – fabulous!
Ray says
You have a crush on Don Draper? Hmmm. What season are you on now? My sister is just getting into it also, finally.
KathEats says
Season 4. Not crushing on his ethics…just think he’s hot.
Ray says
Jon Hamm is quite gorgeous isn’t he!
Sydney @ Trust the Skinny Cook says
Loooove Home Goods… I’ll be heading there today for some vanilla extract – they have some good ones there for cheap!
Christina says
Ah I love love love So You Think You Can Dance and get excited anytime someone mentions it (clearly). The contemporary dances emotionally drain me and I just cannot handle it…

I used to watch SYTYCD religiously. I can’t dance to save my life, but I love watching others dance!
Susan H @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I love flavoured oils and vinegars! Olive It Tasting Bar with Artisan Oils and Vinegars has opened near me…I love their lemon oil, Tuscan herb oil and their white balsamic vinegar. Next up to try…pomegranate vinegar! 🙂
Lauryn@Cupcakes and kickboxing says
How awesome!! I loved this post. I will have to get the shampoo and the soap espically…i looked for the shampoo at walmart i think last time and i didnt see it 🙁 Please do more posts like this, maybe once a week or two weeks? Loved it!
Karen says
Isn’t Peggy the best character ever created? LOVE her strength and growth! Of course, like every girl, I’m charmed by Don…but really, the fact that he’s such a womanizer cancels all that adoration out. Yes, the times were different, the industry are a contributing factor, and yes he’s got some messy childhood issues going on, but still – it’s about time he get himself together. He’s got a daughter after all! (I think this current season, there will be some catalysts in that regard.)
Excited re. sytycd too. But, the fun for me really begins when the field is narrowed to the top ten…it’s then that I begin loudly rooting for my favs. (Though I’ve identified a couple of def. stars already.)
That vinegar and meyer lemon spritzer from Home Goods look fantastic. Last year I found out they also have incredible deals there on towels and open stock cookware, if your timing is just right. I really should go there more often. Oh, and I’m a big fan of Method anything – their fragrances are the best. (Still mourning those beloved baby-scented dryer sheets!)
I enjoy this series of “what I’m loving right now” posts too!
KathEats says
Who is your fav in the SYTYCD top 20? I like Jenna the ballroom girl and “Fik-Shun” is going to go far, I think
Karen says
My vote goes to MacKenzie (contemporary) so far – she’s been flawless throughout the audition process and stood out from the crowd this week. Jasmine has caught my eye also. I’m rooting for Fik-Shun too!
Eliza says
I loved the post! Keep the “currently loving” posts coming– food, home products, makeup, clothing, anything!

I didn’t even know there was an HGTV magazine but I completely get sucked into that channel and all the great designing ideas. Home goods has the best finds!!!

Hi Kath,
Thanks for the tidbits! My favorite items in your list are Herbal essences and Livewell 360. Anyway, I would like to read the HGTV magazine. I’m so interested. Thanks for sharing! 😀
Elise @ Expeditions of Elise says
Nashville is one of my favorite shows on TV right now! (After Parenthood). It’s SO SO good. All of the characters are really well developed and the acting is phenomenal. Not to mention the music is fabulous. The season finale was one of my favorite episodes of the season. Can’t wait for it to come back for season 2!
Steph says
is the tomato on the vine product a soap? if so, that sounds awesome. need to get to target to check it out!
KathEats says
yep!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Oh the rose Herbal Essence is totally back!! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. LOVE it.

I am a frequent reader of your blog, but don’t usually comment. Really liked the style of this post. Please consider doing more!
Hilda says
I know you probably didn’t get any sort of compensation for this because you’re usually really great about mentioning it, but I didn’t see anything here. Just wondering if you’re getting anything from these businesses for mentioning them on your blog!
I don’t think I’ve ever smelled a tomato vine on it’s own before…I’ll have to check that soap out because I love method! Some of the dish soaps are a little too flavorful for my liking though.
KathEats says
Nope not in this post. I would have mentioned it. Although I suppose the opensky connection is an indirect connection with the bag. And I got the bag complimentary but everything else I bought
Grace @ Grace Dishes says
Herbal Essences does bring me back to Middle School! I LOVED THAT SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER. Now I want to pick up some to remind me of childhood since apparently SMELL is one of our strongest senses.
That’s a fantastic bag!
Hope says
That bag is super cute! I’m a little confused…”A diaper bag it is not…… but I love it as a diaper bag.” Is it just a bit too small or something?
The zipper broke on our diaper bag and I’m currently using a freebie tote bag from a work convention. It works, though!
KathEats says
I mean it wasn’t designed to be a diaper bag but it sure makes a good one
Hope says
Ah, gotcha, thanks! 🙂
Suzanne says
All good things! I have a weekly roundup of things I’m loving on my blog! Check it out 🙂

LOVE these types of posts! Hope you’ll consider keeping them in your regular rotation. And, yes, Herbal Essences has the pink one out as well!!! I used it last week and, interestingly enough, received some very nice out-of-the blue compliments on my hair that day. I’ll take it 🙂
Maggie @ Sunnyside Up Smile says
HGTV was easily my obsession about a year ago. My family and I would watch House Hunters every Friday night 😉 I haven’t read the magazine though! I’ll have to pick one up next time I hit the grocery store.
Meghan says
OMG I love Herbal Essenses! Always made sure I had that in my gym bag during high school. Call me crazy but I have never watched Mad Men. I just don’t see what all the fuss is about.
jenna k says
ahh thanks for sharing about the magazine! i watch so much of that channel, so i’m sure i’ll love the magazine. i’m about to move apartments to live by myself for the first time, so i’m gathering my ideas and supplies to decorate my living and dining rooms. i even think i have a coupon for the hgtv magazine, so this is perfect!

I was just eyeing up Mad Men last night on Netflix. I miiiiiiiight start something there 😉

Even my little brother loved Herbal Essences back in the day, though he claims that he cannot remember using it :p
After 3 years of being a huge fan of your blog, I am finally leaving comments on your posts! You inspired me to cook up my own bowl of oats, and I loved going through your Cville page to go to all of the “hot spots” you recommended. My boyfriend goes to UVA and I’d visit him on the weekends – I absolutely love Charlottesville 🙂
KathEats says
Yay!

I’m always reluctant to buy any consumables at Homegoods (are they expired? are they “seconds”?), but LOVE their kitchen gadget selection and open stock cookware.
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
I didn’t realize HGTV had a magazine! Now I want to subscribe haha! I love the Method line of soap at Target… it’s the only kind I buy!
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen says
I bought the seasons of Mad Men and I’ve been meaning to watch them, but I got sucked into the first season of Game of Thrones for a while. I can’t watch the next season until I read book 2, so I think I’ll start Mad Men in the meantime.
That vanilla fig balsamic sounds amazing. We have a store called Home Sense here, which is similar to Homegoods, and it always has the best food finds!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
HomeGoods always sells such unique food items. Definitely need to check it out! I’m a huge fan of Nashville. I love that show.

Ahhh! HGTV is my ALL TIME FAVORITE magazine, plus I’m a graphic designer and the layouts are just gorgeous! I agree, love these kinds of posts!
P.S. I’ve had your smart phone app and it used to alert me when you’d post something new and it hasn’t been working the last month – has anyone else mentioned this? (It’s probably just my darn smart phone – not a fan!)
KathEats says
the app company folded 🙁 I haven’t found a new one yet
Suzanne says
Another long-time reader, first-time commenter! Just wanted to add for any fellow Canadians that Method products are available at Shoppers Drug Mart here! The Tomato Vine scent sounds lovely.
Emily says
If you love Peggy, you should try Top of the Lake which stars Elizabeth Moss. It’s a one-series only mystery and she’s SO good in it. Happy Watching!
Tracy says
Love HGTV mag!! I share your glee with each new issue 🙂

Love this post!
Katie @ Real Food Katie's Way says
Pink Herbal Essences was my FAV! That would absolutely take my back to middle school! I remember that the bottle (at least here in canada) was see through but on the back of the bottle on the inside there were roses all over. It was so pretty!
Nicole says
Love vanilla fig balsalmic! I bought some on a trip to San Diego at an oil and vinegar tasting. I’ve been so stingy with it since I haven’t seen it anywhere else! I love it on pears and dipping it with delicious artisan bread. Do tell how you’ve been using it! I’d love some more ideas.
