This is one of those afternoon –> evening posts with many different segments! I went from walking to appointment to cooking to napping to dining to walking to partying to sugaring all in a matter of hours : ) I’m glad I didn’t do a formal workout today because I think I covered about 4 miles total just walking downtown and back twice!
A visit to the library (now have a bunch of kindle books on request – I think I’m #95 in the waiting list for Gone Girl!?)
Also got my hair cut!! Just a trim.
Came home and made Anne P’s granola bars with the brown rice cereal I picked up this AM. Love that these require no baking : ) Ate one for a snack and also licked the bowl! Now I think I owe all of you $100 after that bet I made
Don’t think I can afford that!*** Interlude for a 20 minute power nap, which really helped me power through tonight! ***
Matt and I planned a simple dinner before going out: salads with dates, goat cheese, tomatoes and egg on top.
Some of us were very casual about our presentation
We headed to Fridays After Five where we talked with friends for a while!
Next stop: The Best of C-ville Party!
C-Ville [our cool local newspaper] throws a big annual party when its Best of Cville awards come out and invites all of its advertisers, nominees and winners of the awards. Great Harvest was so honored to be nominated in the Best Bakery category this year!!
The party was packed with people and the arena was decked out in Olympic-themed décor.
There wasn’t much in the area of food (why we ate before) but there was tons of alcohol! Sadly we waited in line for 20 minutes for drinks to find out that the bar had nothing non alcoholic. Luckily I found a water fountain! [Most unflattering photo ever…]
[And then finally I found a bottle of water at another station. ]
I ran into these lovely blog readers!! Hi gals!
After chatting around with some friends and contacts we knew [we must have seen 25 people we knew tonight!], we decided it would be the perfect evening to go over to Paradox for dessert!
I’ve been thinking about this layer cake all week long : )

The slice was HUGE and for maybe the first time in my life, I left delicious cake uneaten. Tear! Neither one of us could fit another bite. But it was an amazing cake full of frosting, nuts and coconut!
Sweet dreams!

See, I was starting to think that your comment earlier today that this weekend would be great to have a baby was a hint. 😉

I need to try dates in a salad! I bet they taste so good with salty cheese.
That cake looks pretty amazing!! I love layered cakes with lots of creaminess in between; I can live without the actual cake part. 🙂

I’ll totally fit that last bite in!! Wow, that just looks incredible, and I think your “unflattering photo” is pretty dark good looking for 39 weeks! Haha for 39 weeks pregnant that’s amazing, and just beautiful. Getting anxious to hear about the arrival of your baby, and the birth story!

that cake – oh it looks so good! and so does your hair and the granola bars (and that’s what happens when you make bets – you have to prove yourself wrong ) 🙂
Susan says
I agree, walking four miles is a LOT of incidental exercise. I think it’s beautiful how you eschew driving in favour of walking… so good for the environment, and it’s a pity for Mother Earth there aren’t more like you.
I’ve just started reading ‘Gone Girl’… it’s really good! I love the character of Amy (the main character)… actually I imagine you as Amy (looks-wise) when I think about it – she’s described as a blonde and I just see your face when I try to imagine her.
Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy! I must go now, and dream about that cake you posted 🙂
Mel says
You certainly do Charlottesville tourism a big favor! Everytime I read your posts I’m like “I need to check out C-Ville!” Your library is gorgeous. Good luck with baby stuff!

KathEats says
No I had it once and didn’t think it did much
Vidya says

My hairs were cut yesterday too. Why do I always wait so long for such a big fresh up payoff?!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy says
😮 You didn’t finish that delicious cake?!?! I hope you took the leftovers home with you!

Our public library has Kindle (and other e-books) available for checkout. You get to keep them for two weeks, I think, and then they self-delete. I’ve used it quite a bit because I read ALOT.
Jodie says
Those granola bars look great. I placed a library hold on Gone Girl too, I’m currently 1042 of 1056!
KathEats says
Hahahah – that’s a long wait!

I love the last picture in this post. Romantic with the two forks oddly enough “spooning” each other 😛
Oh, and I’m like Matt… I eat the remaining salad right out of the plastic package too!

I’m trying to figure out that first picture from Fridays at 5.. It look like your shirt in the bottom right corner, but I can’t figure out the position. Anyway, looks like a wonderful time!
KathEats says
Haha – it’s my shoulder from behind!
Coreen S says
Do you buy fresh dates?
KathEats says
I think they are dried!?
Tracy says

You don’t have to pay the $100, Kath 😉 Have a great weekend!
