So complicated. Yet so simple!
The Mix included Coach’s Oats with yogurt + milk + chia + salt + cinnamon + blueberries topped with Cville Cluster bag bottom crumbles, cherries, coconut, peanut butter and chocolate coconut butter (Cacao Bliss!)
New mug coming to OpenSky! In love with its shape + size!
Coconut tea by Golden Moon. The most coconuty vanillay tea I’ve had! I didn’t even mind that it wasn’t black
I’m at home this morning, bakerying this afternoon, and playing this evening!
Have a wonderful Saturday!!
Khushboo says
Woosh When u put it that way, BUSY morning! Nice going on the run- the thought can sometimes harder than the actual motion!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
Haha “realized I’m sweating all over the computer” = story of my life
Caitlyn says
That sounds very much like my morning, except my Garmin didn’t turn on. Technology…a love/hate relationship!
Meaghan O'Connor (My Spoonful of Inspiration) says
Wow- loved the play by play! It’s fun to be able to follow your morning (almost) step by step! I feel like I was right there running beside you- I managed to convince myself into speed-walking/running a few miles myself this morning. I just love exercising in the morning- it gives me such a great physical feeling and a sense of accomplishment early in the morning! Plus, I’m a morning person 🙂
rumfunandsun says
I wish I had been more productive this morning but it hasn’t happened, oh well! Enjoy your Saturday too!
gloria schiralli says
I also love the play by play! Felt like we were all there with u! You are such a motivation! I can’t wait to get out and hit the pavement, but I enjoy evening jogs (not a morning person lol) Have a great Saturday too! 🙂
KathEats says
i was trying to show that I had many gaps in motivation – but just kept going through the motions and it turned out 🙂
katie @KatieDid says
IT’s so funny to read the thought processes, because we all do the exact same thing for every simple decision we make! The number of times I go back and forth about exercise until I actually just lace up and do it is funny if I were to verbalize it! But I never regret a workout 🙂
Cait's Plate says
From start to finish, this could pretty much be my exact internal dialogue every single morning. I love it.
(Also – the number “26” is forever synonymous with “Kath” in my brain. I think I had 26 items in my Google Reader this morning and it made me think of you!)
I adore that mug – finding the right size/shape is so crucial for my liking of a mug. I think OpenSky may be getting more money from me in the near future!
Have a wonderful morning!
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
Isn’t it crazy how many things girls have going on in their head while doing a task…. While men on the other hand just don’t work that way…… Way to push through and ‘Just do it’! Oats as a reward are a nice thing too! Happy Saturday!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Great job getting the run in! It always feels great when you just get out and do it. Breakfast looks amazing! I hope you have an incredible weekend!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
love the fresh cherries in a bowl. breakfast sundae
Lynda @ healthy hoboken girl says
I ran this am too!!! It felt so good… once I got started! Have a great Saturday everyone!!!
Meredith says
I know the feeling of not being motivated to go running, but if I just put my clothes on and play some motivating music, I usually end up loving my run!
Ashley@MyFoodandFitnessDiaries says
Loved this play by play… story of my life. 😉 Looks like a great day ahead of you!
Erika @ The Teenage Taste says
That is exactly how I am before some of my best runs! It must be something about the spontaneous-ness that makes the run so good! Have a great weekend, Kath!
Those overnight oats look fab! 😀
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
Great job on going through with your run! I always do that – I think ‘I’ll just put on my workout gear and see if I feel like exercising’ and I always do!
Your tea sounds so delicious 🙂
Margo @ peanut butter trees says
I love your morning thoughts! Good to see you have similar mental debates about getting up and running like me 🙂 The thought of breakfast afterwards is always a good motivation.
kaila @ healthy helper! says
Wow busy morning!!! Lots of decisions to be made!
Melissa says
That tea sounds delicious. Do you sell that on your open sky?
KathEats says
Very likely!
CJ @ http://healthy-happy-whole.com/ says
Good for you for the self-motivation! Between you and HTP and Caitlins saying she’s never regretted a work out after it’s done, you both inspire many to be active or continue that aspect of a healthy lifestyle. Thank you 🙂
Kristen, Sweetly says
That mug looks awesome. If only I didn’t have such a problem, and still had cabinet room for new mugs.
I just bought a 2 lb. bag of cherries this morning, after having a huge bag last week. I didn’t know if I should spring for them again, even though they were a little on sale… Your beautiful overnight oat photos confirmed the goodness of the decision. 🙂
Michelle (The Runner's Plate) says
This was a lot of fun to read! The hardest part about running is putting your running clothes and shoes on!
Val @ Balancing Val says
I read email and blogs first thing AM before I get out of bed too. I have a rule that I can’t turn on my desktop computer until I’ve eaten breakfast. Otherwise I could go hours working without fuel!
Reading (and chickens) says
Can I tell you how relieved I am to read that you both struggle with going for a run and that you sometimes walk in a run? So, so encouraging as a beginning runner to know these things happen to Real Runners, too!
Emma @ Microcosm of Life says
So true that where we photograph food is not always where we end up eating it 🙂 The couch has comfort, but not the best lighting!
Sondra says
Probably my most favorite blog post!
Christine @ BookishlyB says
Lesson learned- Lady Gaga is a run-saver.
Hillary says
So glad I’m not the only one who struggles to get to the gym in the morning. But, like you, once I get my gear on, getting out the door isn’t so hard!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Dang! when you write it out like that…you defs are one busy lady. Love the whole cherries in the oatmeal! Happy Saturday 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
There’s such a good “that’s what she said” in there!

Good eye!
Joyce @ Jranola Joyce says
music totally makes workouts better!
Those cherries look so sweet!
Lexi @ A Spoonful of Sunshine says
This is actually one of my favorite posts you’ve ever done!
I love seeing the little details–the wavering in motivation, the Lady Gaga experience, the intricately simple routine.
It adds an amazing “personal touch” to this post 🙂
Cate says
Oh, that mug is gorgeous!! I have a bit of a mug “problem”…but I think OpenSky will be getting some money from me soon, too!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Love the thought process – mine was very similar this morning! To get my long run in, I had to run 4 miles away from my house so I’d have no choice but to run the 4 back. 🙂
Jessica says
That sounds like the ideal weekend morning to me! 🙂
Lee Ann says
Love love love that bowl!!!!! It is beautiful. Reading your inner dialogue makes me tired! LOL
Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well. says
You’re right: so complicated, yet so simple!
It always takes me about half mile to a mile to get my legs warmed up and stretched out before I can really get into it.
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
haha I could almost feel everything you mentioned–that “i’m so tired” feeling, and that “I don’t know if I’ll be able to complete my run”, etc. 🙂 Have a beautiful day Kath~~
Sara says
It’s so true what they say – “You never regret a run.” Have a great rest of your day!
Lorin says
Haha, this reminds me of a project my friend had to do in high school. She was supposed to write down every thought she had to learn the thought process or something similar. It’s weird how things connect. Sometimes I start thinking of something which leads me to think of something else and somehow when I finally say the thought out loud it is completely different than from where I started in my head.
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Haha I love Selling New York! Although I don’t have a TV and I’ve watched all the episodes they have online! And I’m going to have to get more creative with my oats, yours always look so good! I’m afraid mine are too boring for my blog! work in progress… haha
Nicole says
So true with the run debate! It’s always such a mental battle, but so worth it once you finally get out there :]
Kori says
Those cherries look so good! Since Kaci and I just restocked the house with farmers market and grocery store produce, we’ll have to pick up some cherries whenever we run low on fruit again. 🙂 I also love your mug. Very unique shape. Hope you’re having a great day!
Katherina @ Zephyr Runs says
That tea looks to die for!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I was up for an early morning run today too. And I tried your idea for a pre-run date – love this idea! I wasn’t feeling hungry, but I’ve decided to start having some fuel before early morning runs because of what I’ve been reading in Nancy Clark’s Sports Nutrition Guide. She says that after sleeping, our glycogen stores may be fine, but our liver supply may be depleted – and that’s what gives glucose to the brain. So some pre-run glucose helps to combat that mental block when running!
Shana says
Love that book! It was a big eye opener for me!
Angel7 says
Love the mug!

Sara @ real fun food says
Maybe I’m crazy but I always feel so hungry in the morning to the point where I feel sick so I always have to eat a bagel with peanut butter or a couple pieces of toast before a morning workout. I wish I could be like everyone else and just have a little something – would be so much easier!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Loved reading your thought process. Mine would’ve been way more like “food, coffee, blog, laundry…” without running even entering in there. I wish I could be a morning workout person!
Samantha says
How many oz. is the mug? I like!
KathEats says
I’m guessing 16? Maybe 12 though…I’ll have to measure tomorrow
Hannah says
If I had that breakfast, I’d never want the morning to end.
Kate says
It’s so nice to read about a healthy living blogger’s struggles with getting motivated! It’s good to know that even people who run as regularly as you don’t immediately leap out of bed enthused about the idea of running. Makes it seem like those of us who dread workouts have a chance!
Becky says
You are an inspiration Kath. Love your discipline. Have been enjoying four days of “bliss” at the Shaklee convention at the National Harbor. Lots of good news.
Skip Janssens says
Hi Kath,
I gotta say this post inspired me to run this morning. I was doing the “let’s think up a bunch of reasons not to run” game and then I read this post and realized that, like you, putting on my running shoes is 90% of the battle. I did that and was out the door in just 10 minutes.
Thanks for the inspiration, my Sunday has been much better because of it.
Brionna says
Thank you for this post! This morning my alarm went off and I was not happy about it. I just moved to Austin from San Francisco so I traded hills for heat and I’ve been meaning to test out a run. I almost rolled over and when back to sleep, but remembered this post and somehow managed to get out of bed (currently an air mattress) and pump out 4 miles. Thanks for the inspiration!
Samantha says
This post is so inspiring! What kind of foot surgery did you have? I just had foot surgery 2/1/11 and was just cleared by my surgeon to begin running again. I tore a tendon in my right foot and didn’t realize how long recovery and rehab would take; needless to say I have had to learn a lot of patience. Thanks for reminding me that running is still a possibility after surgery!
KathEats says
I had a joint in my foot that was fused…at birth!? And they unfused it for me in 2005. I was non-weight bearing for 4 weeks and it took me a good 3-4 months to be able to feel partly normal again. My foot it still not normal but it’s 95% there. It will take time, but hopefully you’ll heal quickly
