^^Things I’d like to join me on that patio: my Kindle, a glass of rosé, the 2000s Country Hits playlist on Spotify. I need some good beach book suggestions – please share your favorites! I’m a big fan of Elin Hilderbrand, but I’ve read so many of her books I can’t tell which ones I have and haven’t read! I tried the new Nicolas Sparks novel, See Me, and it was the first book of his I just couldn’t finish. So sorry to say!
^^Breakfast toast with almond butter and the last of a pint of strawberries. Bite = #hungry

I love it when ACAC does their pop-up cook outs!
Look at my child eat a hamburger like a normal person!! I know this is kind of like saying “Look my baby is smiling!!!” but this was one of the first times he’s done this. #milestones

I want a personal stylist!! Your tofu lunch looks great. I haven’t experimented with it yet…perhaps I should try.

Mazen looks so handsome with his haircut!
I just finished reading the Vacationers by Emma Straub, and it’s a good beachy novel. Would definitely recommend!

What a handsome guy with his new haircut!

Yes I love Elin Hilderbrand too.I think she has a new one coming out soon. I binge read all of Mary Kay Andrews books recently, they take place in the south. I think you might like her too.

I also love Elin’s books. They are perfect for summer. Lately I’ve been really enjoying Rainbow Rowell’s books. They are YA but so so and written that I don’t feel like I’m too old to be reading them. Also, Liane Moriarty and Jojo Moyes are great. I’ve heard really really good things about The Nightengale by Kristen Hannah- it’s next on my list. Happy reading!
Kelli @ Hungry Hobby says
Sadly it’s already approaching 110 here so I don’t want to be on my patio I want to be in the pool! Things to join me in the pool _- raft, margarita, sun glasses and hat!

Hi Kath! Love your blog. I love Elin Hilderbrand’s books, they make me long for a Nantucket vacay! Nancy Thayer’s books are very similar and most take place on Nantucket. Try Heat Wave or The Guest Cottage. You also might enjoy Liane Moriarty’s books. What Alice Forget is my favorite, but all are pretty good reads.
India says
Have you read “Me Before You?” It was a good one! Also, a ton of blogs are doing summer must-read lists. I just added a few from Modern Mrs. Darcy’s blog to my library holds.

Mazen’s haircut looks so cute! Lambchops with rosemary is such a delicious combo.
Amanda says
Mazen’s haircut looks very stylish and grown-up! I never cook with Rosemary, but every time I see it, it looks very appealing. I probably would want to try it with another kind of meat–I’m not a huge lamb chop fan. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for spreading the word about our Joyful Eating program!

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld was really good. Have you heard of the Book of the Month club? I just joined and it’s introduced me to some great books so far.
Candice says
I juuuuust finished Beach Music by Pat Connelly. It was amazing. The writing is so beautiful and it was a nice change from my normal books like Nic Sparks. He also wrote Prince of Tides which is on my list for next 🙂
Jen says
Have you read anything by laine Moriarty? Love her! What Alice Forgot, The Husband’s Secret and Big Little Lies are my favorite.

Elin Hilderbrand, Jennifer Weiner and Emily Giffin all have new books coming out in June. I’ve read several books by all of them and you can’t go wrong. If I were you, I’d add all 3 to my summer list! 🙂
Erin Hack says
I recently discovered Mary Alice Monroe books and I really enjoy them. Also, Nadia Gordon has 4 books that I love and usually read every summer. The books are set in CA wine country and she is a chef at her own little restaurant. 🙂 Happy reading!

Have you read Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman? It’s quite different from the movie and the way she writes is so incredible. I bet you won’t be able to put it down. I HIGHLY recommend it. 🙂
Faith says
I love your patio, Kath! It looks really nice!
Mazen’s haircut is so cute! I love it when our little boy gets his haircut at the barber shop!

If you like Elin Hildebrand, I would definitely recommend The Guest Cottage by Nancy Thayer
I posted some of my other favorite beach reads here and here, too

I was also going to say The Guest Cottage by Nancy Thayer! I had a hard time putting that one down, it was really good. I also enjoyed The Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane by Kelly Harms. Two women with the same name, same town hear the announcement that “they” won the Home Networks Free House Sweepstakes, and both go to claim it. Great book, again, hard to put down. I’m waiting on a copy of Elin Hilderbrand’s new book from the library, Here’s to Us. Hope it’s good!
Mazen’s haircut is adorable, by the way. He’s a cutie pie!

Anything by Liane Moriarty, Curtis Sittenfeld, and Rainbow Rowell make great summer reads. I just read ‘Eligible’ by Curtis Sittenfeld and LOVED it, which I was kind of surprised at, since I am a die hard ‘Pride and Prejudice’ fan and didn’t know if I’d like the retelling.

If you’ve not read The Rosie Project and its sequel The Rosie Effect you are missing out. I’ve also enjoyed Liane Moriaty’s books. Just got Me Before You from Amazon yesterday so that’s what’s next 🙂
