Or…
Went to bed early. Slept well. Woke up at sunrise. Went running.
Straight to Great Harvest! Matt suggested I take home breakfast – Mondays we make my favorite muffin: the Oat Berry. Yum!
Total miles of exertion to get said muffin: about 4.75.
Oat Berry crumbled atop a cup of low-fat plain organic yogurt, a diced plum, chia seeds and sunflower butter
Coocoo for coconut
Have a great start to your week!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I think you need great harvest shirts with that phrase! 😉
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
I agree with Gina! And I would be one of the first people in line to buy one 😉

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
That would be an awesome shirt!
Your plum looks so good. I’m ready for my winter oats! 🙂
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Haha, did you run back with the muffin in your hand?!
KathEats says
Yeah! But in a baggie
Jen says
I would have crushed it! Do you guys bake certain items or put out sandwiches according to the day of the week or mix it up?
JenATX says
I think the muffin would’ve made me run faster so I’d eat it quicker haha
Katie says
Shirts with that phrase would be SO awesome!!
Loving the plum addition to breakfast ; )
Happy Monday Kath!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
I would definitely like that on a shirt! Or will run for oats 🙂
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
THESE MUFFINS ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY.
Haha 😉
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Beautiful colours this morning Kath! I kicked off my morning with teaching my usual Monday morning spin class. Cheers to early AM workout endorphins! Have a great day!:)
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I’m not normally a big muffin lover but for some reason “oat berry” sounds so freakin good right now!!!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I always think your muffin-on-top-of-yogurt breakfasts look so delicious- but the question is: does it keep you as full as oatmeal does?
I have almost 5 hours between when I eat breakfast and lunch (being a teacher, it’s not flexible) and oatmeal seems to be the only thing that keeps me full. I would like to switch it up occasionally though…
KathEats says
Hmmm. Yes, it does. I think the yogurt helps. And there’s more muffin on there than you think!
Angel7 says
I fourth the idea to put the phrase on Great Harvest shirts as well 🙂

Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
I would totally run for that muffin. And I hate running! lol

Kiran @ KiranTarun.com says
I would run for that muffin, cville cluster or scuffins 😉 Have a great Monday!
p/s: Would I be meeting you at Foodbuzz Festival?
KathEats says
I haven’t decided if I’m going yet – I’m just not sure I want/can spend the money with all of our home improvements and all. Still pondering.
eliza@zestyappetite says
running for baked goods? pssssh….I would probably be a lot further in my half marathon training if some warm delicious doughy goods were at my end point! also if a pool of sunflower butter was involved….
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Haha I would definitely run for one of your muffins! Looks so good!
Deva @ Deva by Definition says
I love muffins, and running or working out for baked goods!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
I will definitely run for that muffin! 🙂 You guys need to make Great Harvest shirts with that logo 😀
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
maybe “Will run for Great Harvest Muffins and Scuffins” 🙂
Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine says
Mmm I love muffins. Especially in the fall!
Happy Monday Kath!
Amy @ The Whole Sweet Scoop says
Looks amazing! My breakfast was really good too, but if I added chia seeds and yogurt it wold have been even better!
Christin says
I agree with the commenters above…definitely need shirts that say that! It would be awesome!
Reading your blog always reminds me I need to buy chia seeds…lol
Aimee says
Don’t you ever just throw caution to the wind and eat the whole muffin? All I ever see you eat of your own bakery’s goods are corners and crumbs and nibbles. Do you not totally enjoy the baked goods or is it a calorie thing or something else? I know you eat the bread so it’s just strange to me the way you treat the sweet treats.
KathEats says
Well our sweets are humongous – perhaps that doesn’t come across? I ate well over half of the muffin today – which was technically more than 1 serving. Some of our bars are 800 calories! 1/4 of one is plenty sweet, but I have eaten more than that of almost all of them at times.
Trainer Kjirsten @ Balanced Healthy Life says
Your breakfast looks like the perfect meal after a nice morning run! The plums are sounding so good to me right now!
Allison says
I’m a muffin maniac lately! Those sound delic 😀
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says
Loving the photos in this post!! They really pop!
Katie Robinson says
I have to get baking some muffins they are so handy to eat on the go to collage. Yum thanks for reminding me how much I love a good muffin. Just sad face about the muffin top.
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
Yum! Crumbled muffins always taste great on yogurt. Kind of like granola, but with a softer texture. Great way to start the week!
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says
I want to live next door to Great Harvest so I can spend my days OD’ing on baked goods and bread and sandwiches and carby carbs galore. I am both miserably jealous of you and also completely grateful to be so far from one– for the sake of my booty.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I’d prob run for one too! 😉
Johanna B says
I’ve always liked your collection of breakfast bowls. I used to eat from paper plates or plastic containers but watching the parade of pretty bowls changed that. I’ve got several nice SIAB, oats, etc bowls for my brekkie. Got a new one on Saturday. The decorations are denim blue on an oatmeal background. It’s so much nicer to eat from a pretty bowl, isn’t it.
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i love the oat berry as well!
next time i visit our local great harvest i’m going to have them take a peek at your sandwich board. cville’s menu blows ours out of the water!
Hillary says
I will run for pretty much any baked good. I’m such a sucker.
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
Hmm perhaps I would “run for muffins” too, only if I had a great place like GH right around my neighborhood though! 😛 Have a beautiful Monday~!
katie @KatieDid says
I’d be running at dawn too if it meant a warm oat berry muffin! Gosh that looks so good!
Amanda @ AmandaRunsNY says
What a creative way to use a muffin
Sarah @ Sarah's Modern Bites says
Hahaha loving that idea of shirts with that phrase.. or even ‘will run for bread’… I would run that far for a super delicious Monday morning breakfast too! Do you use the Trader Joe’s sunflower seed butter?? I’m not sure if I like it… it’s almost too sweet??…. recommend any brands?
Happy Monday! 😀
KathEats says
Yeah, I haven’t tried Sunbutter yet. I just love TJ’s!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Great breakie! Haha I would do alot of crazy stuff for some good bake goods 🙂
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Glad you got a good run in…I’d be running for those, too.
Fun saying/slogan. Put it on a tshirt! 🙂
Morgan @ moments of mmm says
Love the idea of making GH shirts with that saying! I need some motivation like that sometimes! Do you notice that when you eat chia seeds on top of things like that..you seem to be finding them stuck in your teeth all day!?
Have a good Monday!
KathEats says
Haha – maybe right after, but not all day!
Stephanie says
I notice you use a lot of chia seeds. I just bought some this weekend and am ready to try it out, but what are the benefits of this particular seed? Just wondering. Thanks.
KathEats says
They don’t have to be ground, which is why I prefer them to flax. And they are just fun to crunch!
Sara says
maybe it’s just a semantic thing, but the way you said “miles of exertion to get said muffin” — did you mean miles it took to run to the bakery? or you would have deprived yourself of the muffin unless you ran 5 miles first — i generally find that you exhibit a healthy lifestyle, so this idea of needing to do a lot of exercise to be “entitled” to eat a muffin seemed strange — i hope it’s the former and not the later…
Kay says
Sara! Kath almost always runs before breakfast, and it’s her mode of transport. To me this is no different than running to the grocer to pick up more oats…
Nikki says
She went for a run, and stopped off at her bakery… it took the effort to GET the muffin, not to deserve it… Stop trying to read things into stuff!
KathEats says
Definitely a semantic thing.
I meant the exertion to get something I really wanted for breakfast – like how many miles would you drive to get a bottle of wine at your favorite winery. Nothing to do with energy balance. I eat muffins for breakfast all the time without exercise first.
Alexa @ Simple Eats says
Yep, I’d definitely run for a muffin…or for your bowls of oats!
Ingrid says
Yummy breakfast and healthy! I love how you added a cup of low-fat plain organic yogurt, chia seeds and sunflower butter. I would definitely run for the muffin too!
Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats says
I was SO confused by the title of this post. I thought you were going to say that salt actually got put in the muffins in place of sugar or something. lol. Then I caught on…sweat–duh! 😛
