Around 3am last night Matt and I heard a crash…. followed by our alarm going off.
My heart jumped out of my chest!!! Matt actually looked scared as he went to investigate.
MY first thought wasn’t a robbery, but a beer explosion in the brewery. [It happens a lot]
HIS first thought was a picture frame falling off the wall.
Imagine that!
We crept down, rather terrified of what we might find, but we found nothing.
Back upstairs, we realized one of our door sensors had fallen off after being reattached to the new door. WHEW!
Turns out Matt was already awake because he decided at the last minute to bake more bread today and went in for sponge and dough at 3:30!!
Sure was scary! I’m going to fix it today with new sticky because we have one of our employees house sitting for us next week and we want the alarm to be working!
Feeling a little tired, but luckily I was able to sleep until 6:30. I’m on my way to the bakery again.
But not without a big bowl of fuel first! I made whipped banana oatmeal and stirred in a whole egg near the end of cooking. This doesn’t really change the flavor at all – but it does change the texture. The oatmeal is more custardy and soft and fluffy.
Topped with Cville Cluster, Sunbutter and jam!
Tea of the day
Have a wonderful Christmas Eve!

That would scare me too! The other night I heard a knock in the middle of the night, but only once. I wasn’t sure if it was my roommate at my bedroom door, a knock on my window (someone would have to climb a tree for that), or in my dream. It didn’t continue so I dozed back off to sleep and all was good.
Have a fantastic Christmas Eve!

I looove putting an egg in my oatmeal. The texture (and extra protein!) are fabulous.

I would say that noise was probably Santa… you should check under your tree for some surprise presents that came early 😉 Happy Christmas eve!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I agree with Kinley. It was probably Santa doing a test run. Have a great day at the bakery and Happy Christmas Eve!
katie @KatieDid says
Ohh my I never would have been able to fall back asleep after that. Your lucky you have Matt by your side to investigate though! Thank goodness it was nothing serious.

The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
I think I would’ve wee’d myself. That happened to us one night and come to find out it was the entire contents of the guest room closet ripping down out of the wall. (Stupid builder grade everything!) So I know that panic!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
Erika - The Teenage Taste says
Oh that would scare the bejeezuses (spelling?) out of me! Glad it was nothing serious like a robbery though! Have a great Christmas! 😀
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
That’s so terrifying! I’m glad it turned out to be nothing “scarey.”
Good luck at the bakery today and happy Christmas Eve!!!
Gillian @ The Greener Bean says
Spooky! That’s the kind of moment where you literally feel your heart pounding out of your chest. Breakfast looks yummy… I’ve never thought about combining an egg with my oats!? Will have to try that one. Merry Christmas Eve! 🙂
stacey says
Never thought of putting an egg in my oatmeal!! The egg cooks up because the oatmeal is so hot????
KathEats says
Yup!!
Lindzjane115 says
So you just crack the egg and stir it in raw? I’ve added fried egg….I’ll have to try this!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Noises in the middle of the night are the worst! Our smoke detector decided to start beeping the other night b/c of a low battery and unfortunately since it’s hard wired into our house, even when you take the battery out the beeping doesn’t stop! So, I was up from 3-5:30am waiting for the gas station down the road to open so I could buy a 9V battery to shut it up. Ugh.
Merry Christmas Eve! Happy baking 🙂
Roxanne says
That’ll teach ya! LOL
Always keep extra/spare batteries in da house!!!!!!!

I know. I’m glad we were home – it could have happened during the day.

Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says
Merry Christmas eve, Kath & Matt + family & friends!
Jennifer says
We’ve had that happen to us in the middle of the night, too. The scariest part is wondering if someone broke into the house and having to go investigate.
I’m glad you figured out the problem and were able to fall back to sleep, too. Amazing!
Hope your day flies by at the bakery so you can relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. 🙂
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
Ahhh I think the scariest thing is to feel or hear certain things by being woken right out of my sleep! But so glad nothing crazy happened! 😀
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
That is so scary! I am very glad it wasn’t a burglar–that would have been an unwelcome holiday surprise. Merry Christmas to you and Matt! I hope it’s less eventful than today was!
