Say hello to the little one!
The ultrasound was wonderful – everything looked good. The baby was moving around SO much in there! I can’t believe I can’t feel it. Matt and I were both surprised since we’re so used to seeing still u/s photos. I figured it would move its arms a little, but it was moving its whole body a ton. The tech needed the baby to get into a certain position for the NT test, and it took a good 30 minutes of wiggling my uterus around to get it there. The baby is a stubborn little one who wanted maximum attention from the outside world!
Check out this shot of the paw! Don’t worry – there are 5 fingers. The thumb was tucked!
After our appointment, I put the finishing touches on BERF and then met my friend Eileen for a walk! She invited me on one and coincidence had it that I had to walk to UVA for a play tonight, so Eileen walked me there. Thanks for the company! It was a gorgeous night.
My dinner + theater date was my other friend Lindsey, who works at UVA and was able to get us tickets to see Vinegar Tom.
We met at Bodo’s (at my request!) for a quick dinner before the show.
Check out this monster!!! Whole wheat + cream cheese galore.
Salad, which I wasn’t in the mood for but ate half of for the nutrients.
And Bodo’s famous raspberry seltzer! It’s not sweet – just flavored! Wish all restaurants carried it.
Check out the cream cheese smash!! I loved every bite of this.
Vinegar Tom was one of UVA’s spring productions. Set in 17th century England, it was about witch trials.
Brilliantly executed, the actors were awesome and the music (which was a rock band!) was great too. The whole play was witty and sarcastic.
Lindsey lives downtown too, so we walked home together (this was planned given the dark!) 2.5 miles went by SO fast! I think I walked close to 8 miles today. Not missing running at all with all the walking!
Matt was already asleep when I got home, so I can’t wait to join him for some rest – so tired!

The ultrasound pictures are great!! I had no idea they moved around so much at this stage of the pregnancy – very exciting 🙂 Ever since your trip to NYC, I’ve had a craving for bagels + cream cheese, and after seeing your bagel from tonight, I’m extremely happy that I’m visiting NYC in a couple of weeks so I can get my very own!

Can’t wait for BERF! I just found out on Saturday that I’m pregnant with my second 🙂 I’m still in that stage of being VERY tired and veggies are not appealing whatsoever! Your u/s pics are wonderful, thanks for sharing. Isn’t that just the best, seeing the u/s?? I cried every time!

Did you ask the tech if they could tell the gender? I found out the gender for both my boys at the 12 week NT scan!
KathEats says
I did 🙁 They said it’s too hard to predict so they don’t even bother to look

Welcome!
Roxanne says
Your going to be so busy blogging, Great Harvest website, KERF and now BERF?
With my son, the tech couldn’t get the baby to turn around so we didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl until he was actually born! I think there are pros and cons about knowing beforehand.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Kath that is so awesome and I am so happy for the two of you that you could watch the little peanut moving and grooving and doing his/her thing…fabulous!!! There is nothing like seeing your child in action for the first time to really put life in perspective, right! 🙂 CONGRATS!
Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth says
What amazing ultrasound pictures. They have improved so much in the last 10 years since my last one. I remember how exciting it was to see baby properly. Glad all is going so well 🙂

Ah, what amazing pictures! I was wide awake at 3:45 a.m. I am 52 years old and have insomnia (because of menopause). Guess what I was thinking about while lying in bed in the middle of the night? You and your baby! This is what happens to you once you become a mother. You worry about not only your own children, but other people’s children as well! Ha! So glad everything looks fine.
KathEats says
Aww you sound like my mom 🙂 I was actually up with insomnia because of a different set of hormones also thinking about the baby!
Karen says
Mr./Ms. personality is looking mighty good in there…those are some clear u/s photos! Whee! 🙂

Glad your ultrasound went great, so cute! I was amazed as well at how much baby actually looked like a baby at this point and how much he/she was moving around!! Such an exciting time.
I’m also majorly craving bagels with thick plain cream cheese, had one after my checkup yesterday 🙂 Can’t wait to read BERF!
Do you have your anatomy scan set yet? We find out on March 21st at 18 weeks!!
KathEats says
It won’t be until about 20/21 weeks – so far away!
OntarioGirl says
Mine was supposed to be 20 weeks too at the hospital but I’m too impatient and got in at a 3D ultrasound place at 18 weeks. You should see if you have any nearby! I’ve heard of some people in the States getting them done at 16 weeks!! (I’m in Canada and 18 is the earliest I can find)
KathEats says
We do have a 3D place in Richmond. I don’t think it’s that expensive, and I’d love to do it. It’s mostly the drive there that is my obstacle!
Miriam @ Bellaspire says
I lived in Charlottesville for 4 years and that picture of my Bodos makes me soooo envious! I would always get an everything bagel with smoked turkey and munster. Ahh, memories!! Your baby is trying to give you a fist pump in that US pic 🙂
Marcia Compton says
Katherine and Matt, I am so happy for you both, Are you going to find out if it is a boy or a girl?

What a cutie! Great shot. The hand is awesome! How many people are going to say they think it’s a boy from that pic? It’s just the cord! Our first ultrasound at the nuchal appt was so awesome, I was just smiling ear to ear watching.
