Here’s Kirst!!
She’s quite the trooper – spent 2 years in Niger in the Peace Corps and then went back to school for nursing at Duke and just landed a job! She’s taking a trip to DC before it starts and stopped by to visit.
We took advantage of the sunshine once she arrived to take a walk over to UVA for a little tour
Zoom in to that number! It’s always SO exciting to see it featured!
Once home, we were greeted by a tiger
And then opened some wine to chillax
For dinner tonight, we had Karen and Faith and Tate over to meet Kirst and enjoy some delicious beany soup.
Made from a Frontier mix! We added tomatoes, kale and red wine to the mix
With plain yogurt, it was quite delicious!!
Karen brought a green salad, dressed in garlic gold vinaigrette
Faith brought over some doughy, crusty bread
I had a coupla glasses of wine – that left me laughing so hard that I couldn’t breathe hearing Karen talk about her Vaseline routine to keep her facial skin supple!
For dessert I broke out some dark chocolate paired with orange and apricots
And we all had a blast trying to tackle impossible challenges – like picking up a $20 bill on one foot with no arms.
FYI, Faith can do it but I have yet to tumble to the floor!
Too bad we didn’t have any saltines!
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Oh, your favorite number makes an appearance!

Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
Minnesota bean soup! Woohoo!
I definitely need to try that dollar bill trick — although I’m sure I would either land on my face or maybe do a somersault and land on my butt!
Camille says
What an awesome thing that Kirst did with the peace corp! And she is super tall 🙂
Kori says
You can make even the simplest of foods look special and elegant with your presentation and photography skills. The chocolate, orange, and apricot picture had me drooling! Your day sounds like it was wonderful, and I’m glad you were able to catch up with an old friend. Have a great nigth!
Melanie @ Jon and Melie says
Small world – does Kirst know Donnie Bledsoe? He’s a friend of ours and he’s in Duke’s Nursing Program right now too – the accelerated one.

My mom has always used vaseline to remove her eye makeup. But, it makes her mascara slide all over the next day. ha 🙂

And pllllllease tell me that there is another way to pick up that bill other than by the mouth…. I am just *cringing* thinking of all of the possible germs!
Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says
after waitressing, i can pick up money on the floor faster than you can say…finders keepers 🙂

I perked up at Karen’s skin suppleness routine…because in that video with her saying the words? I did the math when she talked about her HS reunion, and her skin is amazing.
