I felt my face the whole time : )
And the above is my post-soccer shower. It was quite steamy – literal interpretation only.
Friday night I went over to my friend Lauren’s house for a little Mary Kay gathering. Mary Kay is not a brand I might have thought to explore on my own, but Lauren is so good with her make-up brushes and skincare pampering that she has me hooked on a few of their products! The lipgloss most of all. Mwah!
I ate a bunch of veggies and hummus and chips for a light dinner. I wasn’t that hungry to begin with, so it was perfect.
Some Friday nights you gotta stay out to 3am and others you take a bubble bath with some Garth Stevenson and then crash at 9pm with your book : )
Saturday morning Mazen slept until 8:30 (!!!!) and I read in bed – something I haven’t done in ages! Used to do that all the time in high school. Morning is one of my favorite times to read because I don’t fall asleep : )
We had a light breakfast before heading out to the Struckmann’s to celebrate this little guy!
Sawyer bear is one!!
He made Mazen feel like a 1,000 pounds!
We had a great time celebrating with brunch and a Pooh theme –
Happy birthday to you!
I can assure you I have never made this face at a cupcake…
Sunday afternoon we did arts and crafts, played, and I worked on the computer for a while organizing our tax documents. (Where did my blonde little boy go!?!)
Saturday night we whipped up this panko salmon and salad and cracked open a bottle of red for the occasion.
I went out to see The Choice in the theater. I liked it a lot, but I wasn’t crazy about the actors and thought it paled in comparison to The Notebook, which had similar themes.
Sunday morning breakfast pre soccer game –
I also had a head of lettuce and a plastic hot dog. Yum! #eatfakefood
Our soccer team has really struggled with indoor this year, and we had another loss. I still always enjoy playing though, and that’s what counts!
After the game I went to Whole Foods for lunch and then grocery shopping.
Sunday afternoon we worked on two blog posts + recipes and then ate them for dinner! We had friends over to share a salmon feast (it was a salmon-heavy weekend!!)
And we ended the weekend of love with one of my greatest – buttercream!
Hope you guys had a great one!

Oh my goodness that mister Pooh Bear is adorable!!! It’s amazing how when you pickup a baby and then your own much older kiddo and they feel HUGE! Looks like you had a great weekend.

He did! And he’s jet black now. I think that’s the direction we’re headed…

I’m so curious kath, does Mazen nap anymore? How do you handle working part time from home? I recently started working from home 30 hours a week and I’m drowning :/ I am thinking I may have to suck it up and get a babysitter for a few hours a week. Interested to hear your experience!
KathEats says
He doesn’t nap at all and hasn’t since he was 2.5. I rely on preschool days (2x a week from 9-1:30) and babysitter (2x a week in the afternoons) to get all of my work done, although even with that some weeks it’s really challenging!
Andrea @ Blog Strength says
Looks like a great weekend, I want one of those cupackes, YUM!

Excited to see those salmon recipes on the blog soon – I’m looking for new salmon ideas! My standby is marinated in maple syrup/dijon/soy sauce mix and baked!

No romantic Valentine’s plans? We actually are postponing til next weekend since the restaurants will be less busy and we can get a sitter more easily 🙂

Regarding the darkening of the hair: My oldest had nearly black hair at birth and a ton of it! Now, at nearly 11yrs (OMG!) she’s practically blond. My middle girl had lighter hair that has darkened, so that she and my oldest have the same color hair which is a dirty/dark blond. My youngest daughter had that dark blond all along. So now they have the same color hair (and the teachers, etc at their school all know the 3 Cowan girls). It’s interesting how those things change as they get older. 🙂
