Raise your hand if you stayed up too late watching gymnastics! I don’t want to spoil the results (in case you have been avoiding Twitter, Facebook, television and blogs), but it was an exciting evening and we watched until the end!
Late to bed, late to rise.
Matt brought home a carrot raisin walnut muffin for me yesterday – 100% whole wheat with a veggie inside!
I filled my bowl with a cup of plain yogurt, some puffed brown rice, chia seeds blueberries, a super ripe banana, half of the muffin and sunflower butter on top.
This should keep me full till lunch no problem!

I love the placemat, bowl and mug! They are so cute together! 🙂 That muffin sounds delicious!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
I actually watched it live online earlier in the day, so I tried my best to keep my mouth shut the whole day! It was hard! Haha. I just love the gymnastics!
Kaila says
carrot raisin is one of my favorite muffin combos! gotta love the sweetness of veggies paired with fruit!
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
Ahhh I missed it because I was at the Citi Open (formerly Legg Mason…your grandpa, right?). I need to navigate the internet without finding out the results. I also need to get onto NBC’s website to watch it. I keep squinting my eyes while opening websites :).

Yep!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I didn’t think it would go that late! I thought it would be over by 10! Oh well. It was worth it 🙂
Vivi @ My.Beautiful.Air says
such a cool placemat!

I wish we were able to watch the Olympics but we do not have TV. We have a screen for Dvd watching and Netflix, just no regular Comcast hook up. We did that on purpose and I am glad for it, until the Olympics come on!
That bowl of yogurt + layers looks amazing!
kristen @ verbs and vignettes says
hahaha, “omg it’s august.” that yogurt bowl looks fantastic! I’ve been all over fage plain 2% with plums and cherries and bananas, but I think another food group or two (as in peanut butter) would keep me happier even longer.
happy august!!!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
This summer is going by too quickly! Muffin sounds delicious and filling!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I stayed up WAY too late, but it was worth it. How amazing are those athletes? Happy August!
Lindsey @ Pas de Deux says
Your placemat looks like a flower, how fun!! I, too stayed up way too late due to Olympics–but hey, it only happens once every 4 years, haha! Happy August 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I wasn’t up watching gymnastics (although I hear it was great) but I WAS up very early watching women’s basketball this morning, and the women’s swimming yesterday morning at 5:30ET. I’m so motivated by the athletes and it always inspires me to work harder! Happy August to you too!

If Matt ever wants to move back to Charlotte, tell him he can stay with me and pay me in delicious baked goods! 😉
I’m DEFINITELY staying up way too late to watch the Olympics. I’m obsessed though, I can’t help it!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I had heard the spoilers yet I STILL stayed up watching. I’m officially addicted to the Olympics.

Delicious breakfast! Congratulations on making it to your due date month!

I can’t wait to watch it live – my bro’s getting us tickets 🙂

What foods would you recommend for someone like me — pregnant — who has blood sugar issues? It seems like when I eat organic cereal — like Nature’s Path — for breakfast, by noon and until dinner I get extremely lethargic & weak. I do not really snack much being that I usually eat a pretty good amount for each meal, but I wonder if I need to eat more of something else to help my blood sugar. I tend to have low blood sugar/hypoglycemia. Diabetes runs in my family. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Protein and hydration – those are the things I see come up all the time for afternoon fatigue.
Macy says
I would also suggest that you make sure you get this checked out my your physician and direct questions there if you are still experiencing issues. I would not want to mess around with something serious like blood glucose levels while pregnant!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I felt so bad I ruined the gymnastics results for my sister in law! I don’t have a TV so I didn’t realize the broadcast was delayed and I said I saw it in the news!
Stephanie @ Food and Fitness 4 Real says
I avoided all social media the entire day so I would not find out the results. Then I had something at church that evening and did not get home until 9 PM. I made my husband record the Olympics and as soon as I got home we watched gymnastics and swimming (fast forwarding through a lot of the commentators). I was so proud of our women’s team (although I find it hard to call them women when they are just teenagers). My husband and I were both gymnasts and my 6 yr old daughter just started gymnastics a month ago, so we talking about how cool it would be if our daughter made it to the Olympics one day. We are parents and we can dream…

Oh my gosh that bowl looks heavenly!. You’ve gotten me hooked on the crumbled muffin + yogurt combo–such an awesome texture!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I too can’t believe it’s already August! But I’ll be honest, I’m hoping August rushes by because I’m already ready for September… 😉
Rachel says
That breakfast looks amazing… I want to make muffins just to try this combination!
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
While it would have been nice to see it until the end, I’m glad I turned it off a bit after 9. Early to bed and rising early and rested meant I got out on my bike with my baby this morning before the heat set in. Too much Olympic watching would just motivate me to be INactive!
Jessica @ New Girl, New City says
I literally teared up at the gymnastics win last night.. those girls totally got me!! I felt like an idiot.
Laura says
I definitely stayed up an hour later than usual to watch the gymnastics portion-well worth it!!!
Marissa@ohhhsolovely says
the olympics are keeping us up way to late also! i just can’t seem to pull myself away from them though. i figure it’s worth it for the short time that they’re on. congrats on the august milestone!!

That carrot muffin looks delicious! How lucky you are to have a bakery 🙂

Your breakfasts always look amazing! I need to start mixing it up a bit and make some simple dishes like yours 🙂 Also, do you buy your dishes from anywhere in particular? The mug and bowl are beautiful.
KathEats says
Just random places! The bowl is TJ Maxx (I think) and the mug is from OpenSky!
Sydney says
Great, thanks! I’ll have to check those places out!

I actually didn’t stay up watching gymnastics last night (I was EXHAUSTED yesterday), but I could hear my family yelling/cheering along with whatever was happening on screen all the way from my bedroom!

Hi Kath, I’m a first time commenter but I’ve been reading your blog for a while now.
I love your taste in breakfast, maybe because it’s very similar to mine! Breakfast rarely keeps me full until lunch, though. How many hours go between your breakfast and lunch? I really want to be able to eat at 8:30 and not have to deal with food until noon, but it’s probably a tad optimistic unless I have lunch at 11:30 rather than 12:30.
KathEats says
I can usually get 4 hours out of breakfast no problem – sometimes 5. I think the key is having a good source of fat. If I leave out the nut butter, I am hungry an hour or more earlier and only get about 3 hours.
Helga Þórey Jónsdóttir says
I always take a spoonful of cod liver oil in the morning but maybe a dash of nut butter might be a good addition. Thanks for the tip!
Living, Learning, Eating says
That bowl looks amazing! 100% whole wheat muffins are some of my favorite baked goods (but so hard to find!) and with veggies? Winner winner turkey dinner!

I’ve been up to 11:30 or midnight since Sat. and my body knew it last night – to bed at 10!!

I hear ya! I stayed up about 2 hours later than usual watching swimming. Even though I was sleepy when I woke up for work this morning, I was already excited for another night of competition.
