Oatmeal. Kale chips. Sardines. Those are my foods! Today I’m sharing with you a sardine salad that I made for lunch this week that was just above-and-beyond the best tasting one I’ve ever made. I can’t quite put my finger on what made it so good, but I think I just added everything in the right proportions. Here’s how I made it!
Chop up your veggies finely.
Then, add the drained sardines to a mixing bowl.
And mash them well! Don’t look.
Add the mayo, mustard, and seasonings, and mix around. I think the two tablespoons of mayo plus the Honeycup mustard is part of the key to perfecting the flavor of this recipe.
Add the veggies and pimento peppers and mix well.
Scoop up with Red, Hot, Blues, crackers, raw veggies, collard green wraps, a tortilla, or a fork!

I was at a cooking class a few weeks ago and we put sardines and capers in our salad dressing. It added such a good bite and strong flavour!

I’m always making tuna salads but simply eating my sardines out of the can with old bay. I never though to try to make a salad out of them. Great idea! I’ll give it a try. Thanks for sharing

Matt and I loved this last night! We especially were pleased with how much the additional ingredients stretched out the portion of just one tin of sardines. We both LOVE sardines, so this will be made many times to come. We ordered our favorite sardines in lemon oil from World Market, so we’ll use it the next time we whip up your recipe. 🙂 Thank you!

Okay, I finally bought my Sardine can “without looking.” They are sitting on my counter waiting for their turn in line. Now I have to make it without looking! I’m 41 and I’m gonna do this!!! 🙂

Just reporting back with success! If only I had thought as sardines as glorified tuna this would not have taken as long. I’d like to try your canned salmon salad but have had bad luck with canned salmon and those bones Do you (or anybody) have any good brands you recommend that do a good job of debone-ing??

Does anyone know how long this lasts in the fridge? New to sardines and don’t know what to do. The container doesn’t say how long sardines last once open. Thanks!

I would say 2-3 days in the fridge
