I am always striving for a balance in my closet between staples I will wear over and over again and eclectic dressy pieces that I love but wear less often. There isn’t room for lots of both, so one must be choosy with her closet space. But what if your statement pieces rotated in and out? What if you had access to an unlimited clothing and accessories to borrow when you need them? That’s exactly what LE TOTE is. Think StitchFix meets Rent The Runway.
Here’s how it works:
1) You start by filling out a profile and liking pieces you love by clicking on the heart. This adds the pieces to your virtual closet.
2) A stylist will curate your tote with items from your closet, but you also get a notification when this happens and you have 24 hours to swap out anything you like and get exactly what you want! It’s up to you if you want to be surprised or not (availability dependent).
3) Three garments and two accessories arrive in the mail two days later. You have UNLIMITED time to wear them – 2 days or a month or more. I love this most because there is no pressure to wear things ASAP.
4) If there is something you love, you can purchase it and keep it. LE TOTE offers a pretty big discount on anything you want to buy – up to 80% off of retail value (because, it might be obvious to mention, the clothes are not brand new.)
5) Send everything back in the prepaid envelope and a new tote will arrive shortly.
LE TOTE costs $49 a month, and shipping is always free both ways. That’s about $600 a year for unlimited style. If you’re a big shopper who needs change, this is the perfect service for you! LE TOTE carries a wide variety of brands including those high end ones you might find at stores like Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Piperlime and Anthropologie. And if you’re not a big shopper – this is the perfect service for you too! You don’t commit to spending a lot, but get to access unlimited clothes and trends all the time.
Also did I mention there’s no laundry to do – they wash everything for you when you return the tote : )
Here are some of the items I received in my first two totes –
This dress I LOVED! Cute pattern and comfy fit.
And note the gold pyramid earrings too! I wore these for a week straight.
The tops have been very cute as well – a nice upgrade from my usual t-shirts : )
I actually have really loved the accessories the most because I am less likely to spend money on jewelry. These pieces were such a nice change from my usual collection. I wore them a few times and then sent them on back!
And now – a little fun for you to try it out!

This concept is a really interesting one! I’ve always wanted to try out Stitch Fix, so the type of mail-order borrowing is pretty neat. I like all the pieces you received and I agree, the jewelry is beautiful!

I tried Le Tote for a month but wasn’t super impressed with the clothing options, I did however like the accessories. My style is more The Gap and Banana Republic. I guess I’d rather spend $49 a month on something from one of those stores to add permanently to my closet. But that dress does look super cute on you!

I love this idea! I’ve been trying to minimize our “stuff” and live more simply with less physical clutter. This fits in well with that!

Speaking of closet, mine is 70% workout clothing if you don’t count the endless pairs of jeans 😀

LOVE Mazen’s Full House shirt, fitting seeing it was just announced Netflix is releasing a new one next year!
Ashley Barr says
its a neat idea but how many people have worn the clothes?
Emily says
Yeah…I’m a little weirded out by the idea of sharing earrings. Hope they are autoclaving them or something. The clothes thing seems like a nice way to get a dress for an event without having to spend a ton of time shopping.
Tonya says
Who’s Mazen’s stylist?! thanks for the full house earworm! 🙂
Cute earrings and yes that dress is awesome on you!

Andrea Johnson says
I really like the idea of this service! it seems like it will solve my problems with stitchfix (lots of stuff i keep, wear once and change my mind, kind of expensive for the quality, etc) I am giving it a try, thanks!
Teresa says
Geez I was excited to try this Le Tote thing and then learned that they only go up to a size 10, and say that really past a size 8 is difficult to give much availability. What on earth? Great service, for SMALL women only.
